Tinder and online dating from what young and older people tell me is really not that good, young men at my job had a lot of stories on this and they were not good stories. From what i see online dating you need to look like a model to pick up anything on this. But i never been online so.

I have a few younger (early 30s) that I work with. 2 struggle really hard but they don't take care of themselves and are constantly complaining when girls that are solid 10s don't reply. They moan about these girls being bitches and how they don't go for good guys. In all honesty, they are good guys, but they have very little going for them in terms of game. All the other guys meet tons of women, more than I ever did in my prime and can't say any of them would be considered "models". But they figured out how to market themselves and it works for them. But on the flip side, they are never building anything long term. I consider them to be modern "fuck boys", they really don't look like it, but they certainly act like it due to their high turnovers.

Personally, I absolutely hate the idea of online dating. I need face to face, I need a girl that's witty, "bons sens de la répartie", someone that doesn't rely on her army of girlfriends to build a reply 2 hours later. Someone that actually has something interesting to say or at least has an interesting way of saying things.

But for in person, they have 2 standard "hunting grounds" : Fitzroy (pool hall on Mt-Royal) and Salon Daome.

Here is another example of what I was talking about. The famous Resto Bar Le Pionnier in Pointe-Claire closed down in 2020 to build luxury condos. The residents strongly opposed it for good reasons and it would cause gentrification of the area but despite that it was still approved. With property values skyrocketing, intentionally caused by the government, investors are like vultures looking to acquire properties to make way for useless condos for the rich.

hi! just to counterbalance some of the elements i’ve read in this thread, as a part-time barmaid and occasional wild nocturnal animal, i’ve noticed that the mid-20s party / “cool” scene has shifted from being concentrated downtown to mile end + rosemont + neighbouring villeray. système, double’s, datcha, nouvel établissement, ping pong, sans soleil, le mal nécessaire, on the top of my head.
most parties i’ve recently attended were curated events hosted in different locations, all the advertisement is propagated solely through instagram.
so yeah! if you’re looking for a more mature crowd i wouldn’t be the best referral but you can count on me to know where the party’s at.
And to add, this is valid for the late 30s crowd too. There has been a gradual shift towards neighborhood hangs for the past decade

Anyway. If OP is looking at picking up 30+ women, he better starts finding hobbies, it'll be easier than finding out the next event lol

My dad took me there for my first visit, I was very surprised that we were almost the only white peoples there. He explained to me that the kind of jazz music played over there came directly from the Harlem club scene so was most of the guests musicians.
Indeed. Another club you mentioned on Parc Avenue, Checkers, was another black club. I was at it as well. They had a house band named Kinky Foxx and I knew one of the musicians who as a fellow musician got me into the club with no problem. That was a happening place.

Yes. I have been there as well for the live entertainment. There were several great live venues on the West Island including the Maples Inn, the Edgewater Hotel and the Sattelite, which I think is still open.

The Pioneer was a place I worked at quite regularly in my younger years. It was sad to see it go.

exactly from what the guys at work tell me you are judge by your pictures, but its also normal that if a girl is a knockout she will be looking for an attractive men. I guess that relationships for all ages are like this now they just don't last. Who am i to talk i ended my relationship 8 months ago, she was a good women we just did not have anything in common and our relationship stalled.

What I did notice is that a lot of men and women who are older would say 40 and up just got tired of the dating game, a lot of people I know at work and friends etc are happy single, I am going that way too.

For online dating from what i was told there is a lot of wasting time, some spent 2-3 weeks talking to a women things are going great then nothing no more replies, or some meet in person and its not the same person at all that they saw in the picture. As people get older they have more baggage. I wanted to be more active and move more with my ex, simple walk after supper but she did not want too, i felt my health was slipping actually feel much better since i join the gym move more. I would like to meet an active women but so far the ones i met did not fit this bill.

I don't regret anything, looking back at my life I had fun, I never got cheated on (or at least did not know hahah) but I feel so much better when i am alone weird feeling. And i don't miss being in a relationship.

This thread feels like a classic "I'm old now. Things have changed"
I don't want to think about it LOL but yes its true, I cannot say how healthy I was younger because its my first experience in the gym at 45, but yeah muscles burn, leg burn, and the body hacks after training for a few days.

But when I think of the fun I had back then i regret nothing.

Well said.

I was there a few times a month, big funky bands and lots of breakdancing showdowns. Yeah I was among the very few white guys who were welcomed by everyone in there.

Sergakis bought the satellite from the old owner and turned it into an off track betting place that serves liquor called jockeys. It's not really a bar anymore. I loved going to the Edgewater. You left out Quai Sera in Ste Anne de Bellevue and the St Jean strip of bars DJs/Cheers etc when they were open. Bourbon Street too. All gone now. There are pubs but not many true nightclubs anymore.

I was talking to a few young men at my job the other night and asking them were they hang out, go out, then I started to name the places we used to go to when I was younger, the found out that a part from Le Belmont and PEEL pub everything else is closed.

We used to got o OTOOLS, Fuzzy, Thunderdome, Limelight, Hercule Poireau, Sherlock, Café Campus, Follies, the lovers, and action disco club, tuxedo, Le select, le tops to name a few.

But now today those young people seem to have no were to go. Its really weird to think about all of this. I guess back in the early 90 to 2000 we had the best years.
They’re on social media. Lost the ability to communicate in real life and hang out virtually. Yay so fun

I know Darling for ages, old name was Les Bobards, it is almost in my backyard. It has become some kind of trendy place to go eat and a few drinks.

Not quite a supperclub since there is no dance floor, and I don’t really see it as a "pick-up" place. Patrons consist mostly of small groups that gather together for dinner and cocktails, not paying any attention to what is happening around.

I do, every now and then, go and have dinner with friends but, also stop sometimes just have a night cap at the bar since, I like the people who are enjoying their drinks and late night conversations.

I dont go to most places I just mentionned (the crowds are too young for my interest) - was mainly sharing what my younger co-workers have shared with me. To be fair, pickup place doesnt have to be a dance club - unless you're hot, have serious dance moves, dropping cash on bottles or sharing lines in the bathroom good luck with that.

However, I've often had decent luck metting interesting women in such places as Else's or even recently at Magpie Magique where you can have conversations with people. Santo's is always rocking... As for not paying attention... well, you gotta make your luck. Its not a brothel lol I'm just surprised when people say that there's nowhere to go in Montreal... when in fact I find there are more than ever.

Edit: on a side note, if you really want to pickup (and don't look like a creep) head over to Quebec city. Contrary to Montreal, I've never been approached by so many women. Just good old down to earth fun without any shitty attitude.
