On most streets you see cars completely imbedded in the snow.
It would be nice to have a garage to park and store one's car on days like these.
More and more parking garages are being demolished for new condominiums. Even apartment complexes (or outdoor shopping malls) in the suburbs don't have covered carports -- perhaps these structures will help improve the quality of life. I wonder if the benefits of having covered carports and garages outweigh the costs of digging for hours to extricate one's car from snow and iced road surfaces. Environmentalists will be against building more car ports and garages, arguing that those structures will only encourage more car ownership and driving, adding to air pollution and increasing our carbon footprint. There's no easy solution.
Wow. It will take 6 to 7 days to clear away the snow and ice. Then the cycle starts again when the next snow storm hits. That's life in Quebec and people have endured it for decades and centuries. Luckily, I don't have a car and I can get around on the Metro, buses and Uber.
