Pietro Mucci does a beautiful full canvas custom suit and custom shirts with a fantastic selection of fabrics from Zegna fabrics to funky Ariston fabrics and he comes to your office or home his suits are all made here by Italian tailors.

Chowzilla,

You may need to accelerate your shopping in the next week or two because some of the good tailors might get backed up with holiday business............you are not the only guy looking for new clothes to wear at a holiday party or gathering.

Shopping pressure is nothing new to me, but it's a very stressful pressure because my choices are limited in jackets and shoes due to my unusual dimensions. If you are not a regular sized guy, or have tailoring issues, you need to step on the gas pedal of that Shoppingmobile...........

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for double breasted suits...........and post if you see any......

Chowzilla, in case you don't know what a double breasted suit looks like, here is what I am talking about:

I would wear that same suit better than the guy in that photo. Look at how short the sleeves are on that guy. I look at these online photos and laugh because on half of these models, the suit doesn't fit. My tailor would laugh hysterically.

That guy has a spinner body...look how narrow his shoulders are.

I see their "short" sizes stop at 42. Typical.

EB is right. Get busy chowman. Getting a tailored suit in under 4 weeks is not an easy task. You might have to go off the rack. Your budget is fine. You should be able to find something top quality at Harry Rosen or Holts. Happy shopping.

100% the guy is a spinner with narrow shoulders and I would look better in that suit because I have broader shoulders relative to my torso than that dude. I would say over half the models of suits I see online are wearing jackets that have not been properly tailored for their bodies. But that guy is too much of a spinner to be wearing double breasted suits. They are made for guys with broader shoulders and chests.

As far as the sizes they (J. Crew) do have a 42 short which is my exact size. I usually have to buy 42R because the 42S isn't available and the 42R will always have to be tailored on my sleeves.

Chow, unless you can easily afford spending 2 grand on a made to measure suit for just one occasion....you are better of renting.
While its not made to measure...... it is fitted to your measurements and the money you save can be spent on half a dozen or more escorts.
Google for rental locations.

I agree with Cloudsurf analysis if you will only wear the suit once a year or very rarely, you are better off renting. Buying a very high end suit is for guys who will put mileage on their suits.

Consider renting a tuxedo with vest and suspenders.

Chow,

Go for the 2K suit! And start wearing it at your intimate rendez-vous. I can tell you that whenever I have entered an Incall place wearing one of my power suits, the lady had nothing but compliments.

Since this question is kind of related does anyone know a specialty store for short men to buy a shirt from? Presently the only store in Canada is Browns Short men and they do not seem to have an online shopping section. Going to Toronto is not very ideal for me. Presently the only stores I can find are in the US and with customs and duties it will just cost too much probably the same price as a made to measure shirt. Unless someone knows a cheap made to measure place. My I need a 31in in the sleeves and no one makes shorter then 32.

do these places also offer tailor made shirts?
If not can someone please let me know

I know Arthurs does but it costs a fortune. Unless you are below 5'10" like I am then it is not worth.

The models the retailers make their clothes off are unrealistic... These are made for models who are usually tall about 6'2" with broad shoulders and very narrow waist usually about 32in. Only a man who is always training in the gym can fit into that. In a suit I am a 34S because I got a very small torso and very narrow shoulders but I got a small belly so I must always up my size to 36S. In pants I am usually a regular 30in inseam. I got long legs and a short torso. I do not have much problem with suits but got a huge problems with shirts... They are way too long on me... The sleeves are almost always two inches too long and the shirt tails goes to my knees... The collar is too long for my neck.

One thing I wanted to add in reference to one of your posts I like my suits to be the classic 1930's style... Baggy pants and large blazers with a wide lapels. I hate those new suits they are making those slim fit metrosexual European suits... Even the pants are hemmed above the ankle now which I find very ugly... I like my pants to fall to the heel of my shoes.

I like Dagenais at Phillip's Square downtown. Made-to measure for well under a grand. I have had a couple, which I wear a lot.
