New Jersey will win the Stanley Cup...I wish they were playing the Habs tomorrow!

I know this is only game 1 but Ottawa needs better goaltending if they expect to reach the finals.
I bet if Hasek is ready they'll send him in nets.
Not that Emery was sole responsible for that loss, but lets face it,he wasn't a factor in the sens win over T.bay and he was awful tonight.

This will be a high-scoring series. The goal-tending and the ability to come back are what separate Buffalo from Ottawa. If Miller doesn't do the job, Lindy Ruff will not hesitate to pull him and put in an equally capable goalie in Biron. I don't think Brian Murray has that luxury with the Sens. Also what impresses me tonight was the way the Sabres kept battling back scoring a goal with less than 11 seconds left to tie and take the game into OT. Also, what's interesting is that the Sabres scored twice while short-handed whereas the Sens scored twice in PP situations.

As for Roy, Carbo, Gainey, Robinson, Chelios, Smith being present or future Hall of Famers - Gainey and Robinson are there, Roy is a lock, Chelios is a virtual lock, Carbo is a possibility, but Smith? No freakin way!

Chokers...

I really don't know which team will win. But I know that Detroit (already eliminated) and Ottawa won't. These teams seam to be cursed. They do well during the season (probably because of weaknesses in their divisions) but stumble in the playoffs.
Captain out!

I had picked the Devils but seeing the way the Hurricanes destroyed them in the first game I'm starting to wonder!

Don't think so. 'Canes were expected to win the series and they were lucky they survived that round because all of their wins were extremeley close. If anything, the Habs overachieved in that series. 'Canes had more talent and crushed the Habs during the regular season.

But the Canes looked very sharp yesterday against NJ.
Maybe they're better than we think they are?
Who knows,we may have been defeated by future cup winners just like 2004?

As for the Stanley CUp, it's REALLY hard to pick a clear winner but I am hoping that ottawa can break their curse and win it. Either them or Edmonton.

Looks like the curse on the Sens is still on :D ! Edmonton is also in the hole. At least the Oilers get to play in front of the home crowd in the next two games.

If Ottawa don't win the cup this year or in the next couple of years they will go down in history as one of the greatest underachievers of all time.
They thought they'd resolve their goaltending problems by getting Hasek but he's out of the line-up.
Emery's not bad,but you can tell he's not the solution.
And not as good as Miller.

'Canes are the champs

I was rooting for the Oilers in the series because of their magical run through the playoffs, e.g., knocking off Detroit the team with the best record during the regular season and the team widely picked to win it all, losing their best goalie Roloson in the first game of the Stanley Cup series, and coming back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the series going into tonight's deciding game, but the kid from Edmonton in goal for the 'Canes was just too good. Cam Ward looks like the real deal for the 'Canes and deservedly got the Conn Smythe trophy tonight. Well, considering the Habs took the 'Canes to the brink of elimination in the first round of the playoffs, may be the Habs are not that far off --say 2-3 players--from a championship-caliber team next season. In Gainey and Carbonneau we trust for next season :) !

Them and the Buffalo Bills - remember the Levy years?

Anyhow its over - I think the Canadians did put up a good fight so there is reason for optimism. Carolina is the real deal.

Just like in 04 with Lightning and Flames it was a shame to see either team lose - lotta heart on both sides and good for hockey

Yup I agree, I was routing for Smyth, Pronger and the boys but Carolina deserved this one - Nothing better than a Game 7 to decide the Cup (well maybe Game 7 in overtime)

In other Hockey related news Josee Theodore (ex Montreal Canadien Vezina winner and favorite whipping boy) has been recently spotted holding hands with Paris Hilton
