I'm shocked that Brigitte Bardot isn't on the list.
Excellent point...

Well, I did mention Le Grande Orange a few posts back, but it didn't seem to get a lot of support. There is, or course, also Eric Gagne.there were on MLB players...

For consideration (found this in a search)...many listed here are already mentioned but I thought an approach by category would net some deeper thought...

There is, or course, also Eric Gagne.
I considered both Guy Lafleur and Jacques Cousteau as nominees. I decided to go with Maurice Richard as the choice as the great French sportsman because in addition to being a great hockey player, he was a man of considerable social and political importance as was depicted in the movie "Maurice Richard".
Martin of XXXtase is leading the poll by 1 vote over a charging Louis Pasteur!
If you were including athletes the logical choice would have been Jean Beliveau. Not only was he a great player but he was a class act on and off the ice.
There's nothing great about a drug abuser & cheater. I'd put it at the bottom of the barrel.
about Eric Gagne, he was phenominal for a couple years, but over the course of time he turned into a former shell of himself. Def not on the "List" for the obvious reasons you pointed out.
...and you left out the chef's? blasphemy!Food for thought...
