Good question???....Right now ....men...CANADA is playing SWEEDEN in quarters...0-0 after first period.....go CANADA.
2-0 Sweden. Canada joins US in being eliminated in the quarters and Slovakia and Sweden move on. For Canada with just 2 gold medals this was a precious gold medal opportunity, but when the gold medal opportunity passes with no medal at all, it's just a hard gut punch. Canada had a far more experienced team than the USA did, and to not bring any medal back for North America is just so disappointing. It's gonna be an all European medal platform.

Tough night for the USA. Beaten by Canada for women's hockey gold after badly outshooting the Canadians again (40-21), and Shiffrin crashed for the 3rd time in 3 races, failing to medal in what should have been her prime age 26 year, and later calling herself a "joke":

I wouldn`t be surprised if she was told to take the fall. Not only would it create a positive outcome for the other Russian girls, but her handlers probably know the negative result for her in the ongoing doping investigation. Yes its the best possible outcome for everyone especially the Russian skaters (except for Kamila )

Possibly true. I am just glad that there will be a medals ceremony for the other girls who trained and worked so hard to be standing on that platform and part of that ceremony. Regarding Valieva, although a small part of me feels sorry for her as a manipulated 15 year old athlete, the notion that she somehow mistakenly took Grandpa's medication sounds like complete nonsense bullshit to me. I lived with my grandfather briefly at age 15 and never mistakenly took his meds. They also found a medication in her that is typically given to horses and isn't legal for that purpose either, leading to jokes that Bob Baffert was secretly training her.

I have great respect for all the athletes who train very hard for the Olympics and do so playing by the rules. Their rights need to be respected.

My favourite at the games is Eileen Gu who is estimated, at the ripe old age of 18 , to have made over 40 million in endorsements. Everything she touches turns to gold.
She is bright.... skipped a year in high school, scored in the top 1%( 1580) in her SAT score and is entering a top university (Stanford) to study micro biology.
She is an accomplished musician and excels in other sports besides skiing .
She is also a popular model who has been photographed by the top fashion mags.and walks the catwalk for Victoria`s Secrets .Last but not least , in my opinion, she is the prettiest girl at the Games.
Can`t wait to see her on the cover of S.I.

Gu won gold in the half pipe. She competed in 3 freestyle events and won 2 golds and a silver. Wow.
Also great news that 2 Canadians also medaled with a silver and a bronze. Congrats Canada .

Canada has surged from 6th a few days ago to 3rd in the Medals Count, behind Norway and ROC. Germany and the USA are 4th and 5th:
It looks like Norway has a commanding lead and will win the Medals Count again, while Canada is putting heat on ROC for #2. But we are running out of events and very few remaining medals are at stake. Canada cannot medal in men's hockey.

If you took Eileen Gu's 3 medals away from China and gave them to the USA, the USA would be tied with Canada for 3rd with 24 medals. Note that Gu did compete with the USA team before her agent advised her to switch to China for financial reasons. Maybe she will switch back for the 2026 Olympics now that her money has been made.

Her money has not yet been made. It started flooding in from endorsements that will continue to grow no matter what country she skis for or models in . As will the money she earns on social media.
The bulk of her money will be made from the field of science and medicine that she plans to study. When you think of cellular biology you think of crispr and its trillions of dollars potential . Imagine her starting a start up backed by seed money from billionaires to advance the use of crispr in medicine .
Kylie Jenner move over .....the new youngest self made billionaire is breathing down your neck.

laughable the ROC skater mistook her granfather's pills, what was she supposed to be taking instead that she needed? doping continues. she's got a pretty face though that's for sure. perhaps these pills are in fact what allows her the ability to get off quad after quad from that thin, young body.

Well it looks like Norway with a population of 5.5 million will end up with the largest medal haul and the most gold. Quite an accomplishment for the small country.
Interestingly it beat the combined total medal count of its 3 Viking neighbours Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
