OK, well here's a good question: It's my understanding that the basic act of prostitution (i.e. sex for money between two consenting adults, not in a brothel setting, not through an agency, not with minors) is legal in Canada. Has anyone actually just said this at the border? EB, can you opine on the legal ramifications? For instance, you get to Dorval Airport and walk up to one of the passport inspectors. She asks you what brings you to Canada. You say, "Well, I understand that certain acts of prostitution and solicitation are legal in Canada. Since it's largely illegal in the US (not 100% of the US), I've decided to come to meet your beautiful prostitutes and have sex-for-money with them.". Look them staight in the eye and say this. Morally, I couldn't care and would feel quite comfortable saying it.
What I would want to know prior to doing the above is:
Traveling or Contemplation of traveling for sex with a minor is generally a crime in the US. Is the act of traveling, or the contemplation of traveling, to engage a prostitute in another country, while on US soil, a crime? Would it possibly trigger the Mann Acts? Could you theoretically say this to a US and/or Canadian Border Guard?
Frankly, I'm tempted to do this next time I cross just to see their reactions. I think it would be a "hoot". I might even have someone take pictures...LOL
