Phil "the Stick" Kessel : This guy's known for offence, not defence. (Well, he's also known for slashing and spearing but we won't get into that.)

Career stats: 504 games played, 185 goals, 194 assists, 379 points. Not bad...but CERTAINLY nothing special...and this (in Dave Nonis's mind!!!!!) is worth EIGHT YEARS and 64 MILLION!

With a GM like this, the leafs might as well have kept Burke!

(The only thing in Phil's defence is that he has ZERO talent on the team to help him out. Tyler Bozak....HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!)

What Does $64 Million Dollars Buy Nowadays?

For the toronto maple leafs, it buys Phil "the Stick" Kessel.

So how did Phil do? Well, in a game that the leafs WON (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 4-3, the $64 Million Invisible Man was a MINUS TWO!

Me C's Red Light Price left off right where he ended last season  Ole Carey, you will never be a starting goalie for team Canada in Russia in Feb 2014

Seems like if Carey "RED LIGHT" Price wants to be Canada's big hope in goal in Russia in Feb, he better get saving pucks because Jonathan Bernier looks to be the better option instead of ole "Red Light" :thumb:

Talk to me at the END of the season...when the Wings enter the playoffs for the 23rd consecutive year, while your shitbag leafs chalk up their 47TH YEAR of complete and utter futility. Your half-assed losers usually do best at the start of the season before their habitual collapse.

The only reason those sad sack chumps made the playoffs last year (for the first time in a freakin' DECADE) is because it was a SHORTENED SEASON and they didn't reach their usual collapsing point. Instead, the gutless wimps saved it for the MOST EPIC COLLAPSE in the history of Stanley Cup game sevens when they flopped in truly cowardly fashion against the Bs. Definitely one of the funniest things in the history of hockey. Thanks for the laughs, leafs.

PS: Too bad about Franson.

Does this really constitute a 5 min major? Mr. Underwood barely touched him and the only reason it was called is because he hit the stanchion. Had that been against the end boards or anywhere else on the ice it would NOT have even been called a penalty.

If the stanchion wasn't protected by glass, Franson could have suffered a devastating injury, similar to the one suffered by Max Paccioretty after that prick Chara rammed his head into the stanchion at the Bell Center a few years ago.

No one has argued (other than a totally clueless wannabe hockey fan who only follows hockey when his hometown team plays well) that it was a major penalty. It definitely was. But i agree with Brendan Shanahan in not assessing any further punishment since Mike Fisher is not a dirty player & the injury suffered by Franson likely won't cause him to miss any games, except he might have to play with a full-shield visor for a few games.

Leafs have been devastated by injuries & a major suspension to one of its best players. However, the team just keeps on winning. Merci, Monsieur Carlyle! :)

If Bernier keeps up his torrid pace, Team Canada won't have any choice but to name him as Canada's starting goalie!

p.s. Who are Detroit's goalies this season? Please don't tell me they're still stuck with Jimmy Howard and the Monster!

I posted about this the other day...Carey RED LIGHT Price and his ten cent head would be a major mistake for Canada to take him to Russia in Feb 2014.

I thought it was a joke when they even invited him to camp this summer. Heck, many think Petr Budaj is a better goalie!

"If" is a big, BIG word when you're talking about an unwanted career backup.

P.S.: Better not dis Jimmy Howard: he's one of iggy's favorites.

You are the one who wanted to "talk" in preseason so take your medicine mr. NON hockey
Once again: Talk to me at the END of the season and we'll see if your career backup is still at .974. I'll go out on a limb and say NO FREAKIN' WAY!
