You are the one who wanted to "talk" in preseason so take your medicine mr. NON hockey

Talk all you want. It'll end the same way it does every year.

In the 5 years you've been posting here, you have consistently predicted great success for Burke, Wilson, the leafs, and many of the stiffs who have come and gone from the leafs over those 5 years. And it's consistently blown up in your face by the end of each season.

Wilson: FIRED. Burke: 4 years of complete and utter failure, then FIRED. Leafs: 4 years (actually 46 YEARS, but who's counting?) of complete and utter failure, followed by one fluke appearance in a SHORTENED SEASON, followed by the most EPIC COLLAPSE in the history of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Versteeg, Connelly, Komi, Grabo, the Monstrosity, Scrivens, Schenn, and many others....ALL hailed by you as saviors, and all GONE (mostly after complete and utter failure, the exception being Grabo, who was totally wasted because of Carlyle's inept attempt at coaching him).

So by all means, brag it up AGAIN and watch it explode in your face AGAIN, as it ALWAYS does by the end of the season. Too bad you still haven't learned.

I like Jimmy Howard indeed, he is the only dead thing i do like.

I thought you liked over 20 dead things called the toronto maple leafs. That is, if you define "dead things" as a team with ZERO success in the last 46 YEARS (soon to be 47). And, sorry but you can't count the infamous maple leaf garden sex scandals as a success. Similarly, you can't count Brian Spinner Spencer or John Kordic. And you CERTAINLY can't count the four years of complete and utter failure while Brian Burke was there!

I'll (sigh!) TRY to educate you once again, ONLY because I have the patience of Job. (That's from the Bible. You can ask someone to explain the reference to you.)

The Wings went 42 years without a Cup, whereas the leafs have now gone 46 YEARS - and COUNTING! - without a Cup. Do the math.

But even more significant is the fact that the Wings had SEVERAL final appearances in those 42 years, whereas the leafs have NEVER made it to the finals in their 46 YEARS - and COUNTING! - of complete and utter failure.

Try,

Jonathan ".974 save percentage" Bernier

Gee, I guess Bernier didn't bother reading your post, since - against the lowly Oilers - he allowed FIVE (!) goals on only 31 shots, for a totally miserable .839 save percentage. Still, I guess for the Koolaid drinkers in leafland that makes him a "stud" - ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha..........

Hey, did Phil "the Stick" Kessel play against the Oilers? I'm asking because his name was NOWHERE in the scoring summary.

Come on Phil, make a choice: Do you want your NEW nickname of "the Stick" (based on your illegal and cowardly slashing and spearing) or do you want to go back to your OLD one of "the Invisible Man"?

If Bernier keeps up his torrid pace, Team Canada won't have any choice but to name him as Canada's starting goalie!

p.s. Who are Detroit's goalies this season? Please don't tell me they're still stuck with Jimmy Howard and the Monster!

Based on Mr. .839's save percentage against the lowly Oilers, Canada is in deep, DEEP trouble if he suits up!

Meanwhile, as for poor Detroit being "stuck with Jimmy Howard", you might have a point. After all, on Saturday night, Jimmy's save percentage was only .941, a mere 102 points better than Bernier's, and I'm sorry but if you're ONLY 102 ponts better than Bernier you CAN'T be doing very well!

Great Quote from Randy Carlyle:

"I said that my teeth are going to be ground down by the 20 game mark if we continue to play the way we did tonight as far as exchanging chances and making mistakes."

Atta boy, Randy!

"Depleted lineup" - I see the excuses are ALREADY starting. Good work ig, I see you're ALREADY preparing your alibis for the usual end-of-season failure (which will be # 47).

ps. Lupul is second to only SID THE KID! :) If he can stay healthy he will be a top 10 scorer in the NHL, then again same for Crosby if he can stay healthy for a full season as well....

1. Please stop your cowboy fantasies...or at least keep them to yourself.
2. Golly gee, the Invisible Man is top 10 in scoring after his team has played SIX GAMES. Quick - inscribe his name on this year's Art Ross - he only has 76 GAMES left to play!
3. Lupul - yes, IF he can stay healthy. Ha Ha Ha. This guy is on the frequent flyer list at every hospital in North America - he's probably the most fragile player in the league and he NEVER stays healthy.
4. "Pavel who?" No problem - happy to TRY to educate you once again. The answer to your question is Pavel Datsyuk, most skilled hockey player in the world, best two way hockey player in the world, most complete hockey player in the world, 4 Byngs, 3 Selkes, 2 97 point seasons, several Cups, several President's trophies, point-a-game player in this season, 3 points in Saturday's Detroit victory over the Flyers, etc., etc., etc. Hope that answers your question - always glad to TRY to educate you, as long as you ask politely. (Oh by the way, Pavel is NOT known for slashing, spearing, and cowardice - unlike a certain Invisible Man we all know.)

Excuses are for LOSERS. The great teams never cry about depleted lineups - it's only teams with 46 YEARS of complete and utter failure and NO HOPE FOR THE FUTURE that start bawling like babies when they're missing one of their stiffs.

As we all know, Doc is the only cowboy on MERB. Are you calling him a liar?

The Great Dave Keon

Who was the first leaf to win the Conn Smythe Trophy? Dave Keon.

Who was the LAST leaf to win the Conn Smythe Trophy? Dave Keon.

Who is the ONLY leaf EVER to win the Conn Smythe Trophy? Dave Keon, WAY back in 1967, 46 YEARS AGO.

Keon was a great little two-way player and is deservedly in the Hall of Fame. Too bad he is one of the VERY FEW decent leafs in the past half century.

Keon, like so many others, was desperate to leave the leafs. The WHA came to the rescue, and a great player was granted a deserved reprieve from hockey hell.

Let's all raise a glass to the great Dave Keon.

Same story with Gordie Howe. And with so many others, such as Gerry Cheevers, Derek Sanderson, Bernie Parent, Bobby Hull, Marc Tardif, J-C Tremblay, Rejean Houle, etc.

But in Keon's case, he didn't want to leave the Leafs. He only left because he was offered more money by the WHA. His departure from the Leafs was like a bitter divorce, nothing more, nothing less. He's still bitter to this day that Harold Ballard didn't want to match the WHA's offer. He's bitter because he loved the Leafs, and still does.

Now let's have a drink in honor of Gordie Howe & all of the other players who, like Keon & Hull, struck gold when they left the NHL for the WHA.

Or we could talk about how the Red Wings screwed Ted Lindsay, one of their greatest players ever.

Same story with Gordie Howe.

No, it wasn't the same at all. Keon was an active player and not the only one who wanted OUT of the leafs - Frank Mahovlich had created the template for that years earlier. The Big M HATED playing for Punch Imlach and the rest of Big Frank's NHL career (whether with the Wings or the Habs) was like Heaven to him in comparison.

Gordie, on the other hand, was a RETIRED player who came back to fulfill his dream of playing with his sons - and his sons were WHA guys.

Ah yes, the bad old days of collusion. Ted Lindsay of the Wings, Doug Harvey of the Habs, Carl Brewer of the leafs. The first two were all-time greats, and even Brewer was okay. All were victims of ownership scheming and collusion, all were pioneers in the fight for players' rights. And yes, Doc, it was Red Wing great Ted Lindsay who was the most important of all in that noble crusade.
