Leafs are snakebitten to say the least, only been outplayed once in those 5, but could of gone either way in the other four!

Excuses are for losers...which is why the leafs are so good at coming up with excuses. The fact is that the leafs have lost FIVE in a row, a truly pathetic performance by any team...by a sadly typical performance for this wretched franchise.

this is a FREE FOR ALL THREAD and since when is asking someone if they have been drinking tonight suspendable? Yikes! talking about grasping at straws!

As usual you have mssed the point. The reason that you should be suspended is not for the drinking reference but for making fun of a fellow Merbite's handle. Even in a free for all thread it is not permitted to insult your fellow posters. If we were allowed to insult each other, I would do the same to you and would easily win the battle - as proven many times in the past wqhen we did so in pre-rigid rule times.

So when u were losing for 40 plus years what was your excuse? of course the DEAD THINGS were never snakbitten lol........... ouch! :)

Can't blame a leaf fan for living in the past: after all, the last leaf victory was an astonishing 46 years (!!!!!!) in the past. Oh, and by the way, the Wings have made the playoffs for 21 consecutive seasons (soon to be 22) and have 4 Cups in the last decade and a half, so we don't EVER have to make excuses...and on the RARE occasions when we do not do well, we admit it and don't go around crying about bad breaks. It's called class, it's called dignity, it's called accepting responsibility - something the leafs know NOTHING about.

meanwhile we have one more point than the bandwagon cairo dead things LOL,........... next? Btw the Leafs are 11th in the entire league vs. the 14th placed "dead things", drinking tonight ms. cairo?

Maybe it would be clever of you to check the standings again, since your post is not accurate at this point in time.

First you might wanna learn how to spell........ and remember msc, it is indeed a free for all thread not an "official" thread.......

If you wanna play with me, then take what you give or dont attempt to play in the first place ... be a man or stay at home.... you dont like what i post about my team?, ... thats fine but if you wanna insult, that is also fine, just take it like a man and not a lil girl when you get it back two fold, girlie ;)

[/U] girlie ;)

This is another suspendable offense by you. If you are not suspended for this, it should mean that the Mods are allowing us to openly insult each other. If that is the case, I will be very happy to return fire and demolish you.

I guess you never learned the difference between spelling errors and typos so allow me to explain.

"Wqhen" is a typo, with the letter "q" accidentally entered because it's right next to the "w" on the keyboard.

Words such as "wanna", "dont", "thats", "lil" and "parody" (instead of "parity" in your earlier post) are spelling errors.

The Habs are 5 & 0 in the last 5 ... The Leafs 0 & 5 in their last 5 ...

I evaluate the chance for The Leafs to make it in the playoffs at 50 - 50 ...

I actually agree with you. This may be very surprising coming from me, but the Habs now look like a team that could make it all the way to the Stanley Cup finals. I see only two teams in the East that could stop them....Boston & Pittsburgh....and the Habs are not afraid of those teams & i actually think it's the actually way around.

As for the Leafs, i agree that their chances of making the playoffs are now 50-50. I for one question Carlyle's thinking lately. Does he honestly believe that the Leafs are not better having Jake Gardiner in the lineup over the likes of Korbinian Holzer & Mike Kostka? Even Carl Gunnerson has struggled, even though it's quite possible is chronically ailing hip might be impeding his mobility. Keeping John-Michael Liles out of the lineup for a dozen games now looks like it was a terrible mistake due to Carlyle's stubborness & his dislike for small defencemen.

Last night, it became obvious that Mike Grabovski was in his dog house when he refused to let him go out there & win them the game in the shoot-out. When i saw the likes of Franson, Phaneuf & Kulemin being thrown out there in that same shoot-out, i realized that Carlyle was putting himself ahead of the team. Grabovski is one of the team's top shooters in the shoot-out, and he wasn't even given the chance to win the game for the Leafs, which may go down as being an extremely important point lost because of a grudge. Rumour was that Korbinian Holzer & Mark Fraser were picked to go next had the shoot-out continued. I even heard that Carlton the Bear & the Zamboni driver would have been picked ahead of Grabovski. Who knows, maybe old man Carlyle himself might have laced them up after letting Colton Orr take a shot!

Also, no one seems to understand Carlyle's constant flip-flopping of the goaltenders, which isn't helping their confidence very much and recent results have shown this.

My guess is that if the Leafs once again miss the playoffs, influential board member George Cope (who got Brian Burke fired) will likely stick his nose in & force Dave Nonis' hand and order him to fire Carlyle, who was never Nonis' man in the first place. My intelligent guess is that Nonis would likely prefer having Dallas Eakins coaching the Leafs instead of seeing him leave the organization.

Randy Carlyle is still a very good coach. However, expectations may be too high at the moment. Sure, he won a Cup. So what? Mike Keenan, Marc Crawford & Larry Robinson also won Stanley Cups, yet no longer have an NHL coaching job. Even John Tortorella, who's since become a clown, won a Cup with Tampa Bay. Torts will likely be fired after this season if the Rangers don't improve dramatically. Nobody currently listens to him anymore in NY, from what i was told. As Brian Burke did in Toronto & what led to his eventual firing, Tortorella has now put himself ahead of the team & has become the Rangers' poster boy, who's soundbites to the press are now a daily occurence. You can't have the players' respect when you constantly try to embarrass them to the media, game after game, as Tortorella is currently doing. Another former Stanley Cup winning coach who may be on the way out is Peter Laviolette, whose Flyers have performed terribly this season.

What i'm saying is that winning the Stanley Cup as a coach doesn't mean much in my books. To win a Cup, a team has to get hot at the right moment, you need the right players & a good mix of youth and veterans, the right series matchups, and most importantly, quite a bit of LUCK.

I've only quoted the best parts Doc but your entire post was excellent and completely accurate.

The Leafs behind another great game from Nazem Kadri (3 assists) (ty Burke for that draft pick in the Bell Centre in 2009 and ty Techie for the ticket to see it live) got back in control of their own destiny as they saw a strong return by Jake Gardiner as well to the Leafs lineup. A great effort from almost everyone results in the 4-2 win.

On another note, the "Dead Things" fall, once again and the Leafs seem to be a much better team than our brothers close by in dEtroit. (get used to it dead thing fans, it is A sign of things to come for many many years!) Wings Suck! unless they are Buffalo Wings! ....:thumb:..........:D

Sincere congratulations to the leafs on their amazing win streak...currently at ONE game. For the leafs to win THAT many in a row, after LOSING only FIVE in a row, is nothing short of spectacular.

Alas, all good things must come to an end and this amazing ONE GAME WINNING STREAK will likely soon come to a screeching halt for Canada's National Embarrassment. But cheer up leaf fans: after several more losses your heroes - if all goes well and the stars are aligned just right - might ONE DAY be able to match their current amazing ONE GAME WIN STREAK.

Brian Burke, the architect of disaster, took a truly horrendous team and somehow managed to make it even worse. There is probably no other (FIRED) GM who could have done this.

It's still early in the 21st century, but the leafs might already be a lock to retain their title as the absolute worst franchise in all professional sports.

Speaking of streaks, the leafs streak of 46 YEARS AND COUNTING of total, complete failure will probably NEVER be matched by any team in the NHL. The key words are not just the 46 YEARS ...but especially the AND COUNTING part!
