He has been good defensively since Carlyle arrived, def forechecks alot more and is having a fine season so far, he is an excellent passer as well and a good guy.

I'd still take last year's #6 NHL top points scorer over Seguin. I'd also take last year's #6 NHL top goal scorer over Seguin. Indeed, i'm referring to Mr. Phil "The Thrill" Kessel.

On top of that, that guy doesn't even have the luxury of playing with the likes of all-star Patrice Bergeron & very capable Brad Marchand. If Phil "The Thrill" would have a centerman like Bergeron, he'd likely score over 60 goals a season.

People think because a player had success, as a player, that he will be the same as a GM or Coach. (Gretzky comes to mind) Not always true especially in the case as we are seeing with Steve Why in Tampa. Like you said he has major talent with Stamkos, St Louis, Hedman and VinnyL and that was given to him when he arrived and has done nothing to build on it, only gone backwards. Steve Why's days are numbered unless things drastically change.
Tampa GM fires head coach Guy Boucher

In other hockey news this morning, the inept Tampa Lightning GM has fired head coach Guy Boucher. It's a shame that the incompetent GM gets to keep his job & like usual, the coach gets the axe. The GM hasn't made a decent transaction in years & if it weren't for the fact that they've been able to draft very high for years (Stamkos, Hedman, Lecavalier, etc) by regularly finishing close to the basement, this team's future would be as bleak as the rest of the NHL's worse teams.

A new coach won't likely change much. You have to cut the head at the top & start over with a new GM who'll come in with new ideas & make good transactions for the team in order to help his next coach by providing him with superior players & goaltending. Sadly for Lightning fans, the current GM has failed in all aspects & i grade him a giant "F".

The best of luck to the very competent Guy Boucher. He won't stay unemployed for very long, you can bank on it.

Kessel might soon have a legit #1 centre to play with, just as soon as the Lupul/Kadri/Kessel line is formed.

Anyone could be traded except a Crosby. Kadri on the other hand will have a shot at the #1 center spot, but maybe not just yet, let him develope more until he is ready, which he may or may not be right now. He is having success where he is so not sure RC would put the added pressure on the talented youngster just yet.

If Burkie was still in charge Kadri wouldn't even be playing in the NHL - just one MORE proof of how incompetent Burkie was.

Well, well, well: what a surprise - NOT! As expected the latest ONE GAME WINNING STREAK came to an end for Canada's National Embarrassment. The leafs were again totally outplayed by the Bruins, but this time justice was served as the stinkin' leafs lost.

Toronto has now lost SEVEN out of its last nine games. For the mathematically challenged (hi there leaf fans) that means they have won a laughable TWO out of their last nine games - absolutely and stunningly pathetic. (And in fact as we all know, they were totally outplayed and dominated in one of those two wins, but flluked out a lucky victory because the Bruin goalie was sleeping that night).

This joke of a team has obviously reached its stride and is now playing with the same complete lack of skill, guts and pride that has made it a laughingstock in the sports world for almost five decades.

Oh...and would someone please issue a missing persons report for Phil Kessel? No one saw the Invisible Man during this latest leaf loss. (Mind you, any Toronto fans who actually have a clue about hockey - not that there are many of those! - are PRAYING that the defensively inept Dion Phaneuf would ALSO become invisible!)

What another amazing game between the young Buds and the big bad bears! Even tho the Leafs only got 1 point, i am more than happy with 3 out of 4 points in the home and home against the bruins. (as i said b4, if the Leafs got 2pts i would be more than happy, but 3pts is just GREAT!)

Kessel and Kadri were asked after the game what they thought about getting the "Bear off their backs" and actions speak MUCH louder than words!

Here is what Phil "The Thrill" Kessel and Nazem "The Dream" Kadri think of the big bad bruins.....

Glad to see that - as usual - you're pleased even when your team loses. Of course when your team is a hopeless piece of crap like the leafs, what other choice do you have? They lose so often that you better like it!

The biggest joke in hockey - the toronto maple leafs - just started another of their famous ONE GAME WINNING STREAKS.

As usual they were outshot (42-31) and outplayed in their own barn but lucked out a win over the injury-depleted LAST PLACE Florida Panthers.

Here are two great quotes from the NHL website:

1."Leafs barely beat an injury-depleted last place team and Carlyle looked like he won Stanley Cup game 7." That says it all: Randy KNOWS that his team is pure crapola and he's surprised, amazed, and thrilled if they manage to fluke off a typically unjustified win against ANYBODY. Give the man credit: he knows SHIT when he sees it...and he sees it every day because it's his job to COACH it.

2."Gardiner needs to stop his little figure skating routine."

I will give this hopeless and pathetic organization some credit: they DO provide non-stop laughter with their whining, gutless, and totally unskilled play. But laughter aside, they are still a gross EMBARRASSMENT to the sport and to the nation.

Nice !!!! Habs come back twice from two goals deficits versus The Bruins tonight ... and take the two points back to Montreal !!! Huge Win !!!

Now the question is ... after loosing this one will The Gold & Black pull the trigger and trade for Jarome Iginla ???

They were pulling the trigger before tonight's game Nadya. Iginla, Bartkowski, and Khokhlachev were all healthy scratches tonight and those two along with a 1st round pick are rumored to be going to Calgary for Iginla.

On a side note, the Habs were the luckiest team on earth today. No way they should have or deserved those two points getting beat bad on shots, hits, face-offs, etc. Bad bounces cost the B's this one.

Well, that was a big, huge, enormous kick in the crotch from Iginla. Ouch!!

So far the hockey world is shocked that's all it took to pry Iginla from Calgary. Two borderline college prospects who might never play in the NHL, and a very late first-round pick (from 28-30th).

The experts are wondering what the whole rush was about. Why not wait until the trade deadline to try to maximize his value? It's also believed that Iginla made the choice of where he wanted to go & Calgary likely told him to make his choice between Pittsburgh, Boston & maybe one other team. It's also suspected that the deal was made yesterday afternoon, but hadn't been made official until after the Boston/Mtl game last night. This means that Boston likely hadn't been told about this & were under the impression that there was still a chance Iginla was heading their way last night.

Word is that Boston were offering two players who would likely be in the Calgary lineup next season, but were unwilling to part with their first-round pick. Insiders believe Calgary might have went for the deal had Boston thrown-in their 2nd rounder instead of that first-round pick. There usually isn't that much difference in the potential (to make the NHL) of a late first-rounder and a second-rounder.

Expect to see several other Calgary Flames to be traded away within the next few days....players like Mike Cammalleri & Alex Tanguay, for example. Calgary would love to get rid of high-priced defenceman Jay Bouwmeester, but his big contract will likely scare most teams.

Bruins believed they had obtained Iginla

At noon yesterday, the Bruins were under the impression that they had obtained Jarome Iginla for defenseman Matt Bartkowski, forward Alexander Kokhlachev and a conditional first-round pick. All that was left to do was to get in contact with the star forward & his agent before things would be finalized between the two teams. However, several attempts to contact the parties in question & the Flames throughout the day were unsuccessful. Just prior to midnight, GM Jay Feester contacted the Bruins to advise them that Iginla had changed his mind & preferred to join the Penguins.

Bruins disappointed to find out they won't be getting Iginla

Yea, thats the way it goes sometimes. They still suck tho and need to trade Jay Bo and some others to gain assets and picks for the future.

Oilers have a good top six but kinda small and need a cpl big strong forwards in the top 9 and some defense. Devin D looks good in nets so far.
