The same guy, he’s 70 now, I really wonder what he can bring in today’s game.

The Rangers have shown Toronto who is Boss in Toronto tonight. 2 goals from Zbinejad, 3 assists by Gustafsson and stellar goaltending of Sheshterkin added up to a 5-2 raking of the Maple Leafs. This is the kind of statement game the Rangers previously made with their win over the Bruins as well. With Shesterkin on top of his game, Toronto and Boston will need to get by the Blueshirts.

I’m not even sure if TO or Boston would make it to the Association final!
The Leafs received the message last night that when Igor is on his game, they are not scoring more than 2 goals. They knew this before last night's game, but now the message has been reaffirmed, and firmly planted in their heads. This puts a pressure in the heads of the Leafs players, some of whom are head cases, and when playoffs come and they have to play the Rangers, they will be pressing even more- just like they always do. They are the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL- they look good in the regular season, but in the playoffs, they ask for the "early checkout" from the Hyatt.

So the Sabres gave 9 goals Wednesday night but decided to take them back Thursday night! :p
More significantly one has to ask who sucked bigger monkey balls, Ilya Samsonov or Martin Jones. Or which one was sucking the gorilla balls and which, the orangutan balls. When you pull a goalie, the next guy in is supposed to provide relief, like Tums or Rolaids, and not be as putrid.

That being said, Levi and Luukkonen, the 2 Ls, were just as bad for Buffalo in allowing 9 goals at home to Columbus. Who gives Columbus 9 at home? That being said Luukkonen, who is statistically almost even with the 21 year old Levi but a little more experienced, has to come in and show he is the man in that situation, not suck dramatically worse. I feel badly for him because they been splitting time, but this is how one guy jumps the other. Levi was given the start last night, and played better. If he becomes the main man the rest of the way, it was the Columbus game that tipped things in his favor.

So, the big talk is Nylander will get a 11.5M for the next 8 years. Toronto will have 4 players costing over 40M per season!!! They are jeopardizing their chances of a cup imho, there won’t be enough left for key positions that still need to be filled.

If you look at their team stats, their defense and goaltending are shit. Generally teams whose defense and goaltending are shit do not sniff Stanley Cups. Toronto is and has been a team that will score and give up a lot of goals. Their team just hasn't been very good on defense and that will continue to send them home sooner rather later in the playoffs.
