Guessing the Connie Smythe winner after the very first round is a bit futile to me. Any candidate who had a great first round can be knocked out in the next. It's complete nonsense. The Philadelphia 76ers pulled the same shit with the NY Knicks but it didn't work as they lost game 6 at home. It's a highly unfair trade practice. The problem is that unfair trade practice laws in the USA are typically enforced at the state level by State Attorney Generals as part of their consumer protection mandate. It's never in a million years going to be enforced by the North Carolina Attorney General. For political reasons. So it's basically a BLATANT unfair trade practice that is in violation of the law and will go unpunished.
Either the NHL, or the federal government/Department of Justice needs to step in and stop it. I am sure the Rangers have filed a complaint.
