Not sure I agree with you there. When you pay there is a meter. When the meter is up the girl is gone. When you pick up your own girl and not have to pay the meter is unlimited. It never the same. The way I see it, meeting escorts is a shortcut to fill a need and make sense for older gents but I do not understand younger guys who have all time in the world to take that route...at 25 you have the time and energy to invest in a relation and if it fails there is plenty more...

I remember several years ago when there was a mini-GT with 10-12 hobbyists and one newbie thinking about seeing escorts. The newbie who was about 22-24 years old asked if it was a good idea to start the hobby so young. I thought there would be a mix of opinions on the answer to that question with so many present. But no. Everyone, including me, told him to go and enjoy his youth. The reasons varied. The hobby is addictive, expensive, it changes your perspective, it jades you about women.
That last part about becoming jaded is the strangest. Some hobbyists just enjoy this kind of life. But most come because of a series of negative relationships of one sort or another. Nearly all the guys talked about that, and several mentioned how they would love a real relationship outside escorts but were too tired of the game to go through it again. It's all easier, and clearer in the hobby they said, and yet there was a definite view that being young and dating was still a fond memory after going through all the years and all the problems of real relationships. With all that they told the kid..."DON'T DO IT". Maybe when you're older and been through life, they said. But give yourself a chance and have fun first.
That's pretty ironic coming from guys so tired and negative about women outside the hobby.
Most older guys actually would love to have the "whole package", but don't think they can any more or are too tired of working for it and the disappointment. One very long time and well known hobbyist has a great thing going outside the hobby right now, but a lot of others don't want to make the effort any more.
I agree having kids changes your perspective a lot, but according to posts here over the years it does little to affect being in the hobby. Hobbyists with kids and those without all seem to share the same general views about the hobby.
