I think the difference between an agency and a guild of independents should be the same as the difference between a bank and a credit union. Even if there are paid phone operators and webmasters involved, the SP's should be collectively governing the organization, making the business decisions and sharing the profits. I'm not sure which of the "indy agencies" fit this model.

Just curious, which group are you reffering to? What happens if they do not send you any business in a given week? Do you still owe them a fee?

We shouldn't generalize!

I hate these kind of polls because people tend to generalize and put every one in the same mold when it would be more appropriate to comment on each case one by one.

There are probably agencies that qualify in each of the categories offerred and it is not fair to those that don't fit the patern to put them all in the same basket.

I thought that ladies were moving Indy to have better control over their working conditions: ie. schedule, selection of clients, and value of the services provided. On that last criteria, value cannot be summarized by a list of letters describing the range of services but should rather refer how it makes you feel after a session. This depends of the chemistry between two people and is what should be driving the value and hence the rate. Those that do not agree with a rate quoted can always look elsewhere.

It is probably unfair to the ladies for us to always try to hassle for a better deal than the neighbor. In any case, it sure must not flatter their ego.

I don,t see anything wrong for the ladies to pool together their resources and help each other. There are much more chances that this is a true regrouping of Indies when it is run by a lady of the trade rather than by a man.

IMHO if the girls can continue to take appointements on their own, they are part of a grouping of Indies and if they have to be exclusive then they are definitely part of an agency, whether they are called such or not.

but working with a booking agency, or advertise on one of those style of websites, sorry - it is a no-brainer... they are not Indies. Sorry Ronnie, sorry Judy, or Wild or anyone else... but an Indy is someone who takes care of all her own stuff. Her reputation is not linked with other ladies or with a website.

OK so I am no longer independant because I joined together with a bunch of friends so that we can post ads in the agency section of various advertising sites????

I still earn the exact same thing on every call whether they call Purrfect Playmates first or just call me. I still represent myself because the client has to talk to me before I see him. I still have my own site and my own clients. The clients I meet through Playmates ads are my clients and contact me direct for futur dates.

Playmates is a way to gain extra visibility through ads placed in the agency sections of sites; places where as an indy I could not have access to.

What could have been discussed? 60$ a call (in light of your post # 52 - maybe you need to have a talk with your "boss"???)? 22 advertising opportunities? Only 2 of them paid for (okay maybe even 3 or 4)? And that allows me to be associated with a group of woman, who if they misbehave or act inappropriately, my rep goes with it? Come on Ronnie. I know you are smarter than all of that, and in all actuality, I keep asking myself, what the heck happened to you that you would associate yourself and your GOOD name with an agency that has a horrid website, and whos' front person has been banned here and lacks respect for other people. I can assure you, that you have LOST some business because of your association with that agency.

You were an INDY at one point, now you're part of Purrrfect - see the difference?

I hope you don't see this as me attacking you, I like you, I just don't feel that you can be considered truly Indy anymore.
