How do you protect yourself against catching anything?
Do you worry about STD's?
Do you get checked? If you do, regularly?
Have you ever refused service to someone because you had a suspicion he(she?) had an STD?
Do you have any kind of screening for a client before having sex in terms of STD's?

The standard in this industry, at least in Canada is BBBJ (I've traveled extensively in Latin America where the standard is CBJ). This is risky (IMO) & basically only prevents against catching AIDS.
I usually - but not always - play things safe & go for covered BJ.
Some STD's - like Syphilis & Genital Warts - can't even be prevented when using a condom.

Years ago I had a condom break while having sex with a paid lady - it didn't scare me too much, but it made me worry & I decided to get tested. The lady said she was clean & I needn't worry - but I can't trust words & just made it a point to not have sex for about a month & then get tested. Also what made her so confident I was clean(I was & I knew it 100%).

Forgive if it's already asked here, I tried looking but couldn't find it.
Many thanks for any answers & opinions.
I know it's an awkward question but I'm dying to ask since I saw this thread.

Because of my professional background, something along with cleanliness/hygiene I am very aware of and extremely careful about. Not only STD, but also multiple other potentially infectious or contagious health issues. Could be skin related like scabies or other "rashes", shingles, heavy coughs etc which could in fact be indicative of a potentially transmissible condition best to avoid. My personal approach is, if unsure, pay and walk away.

Just a personal view.

Yes, STIs (sexually transmitted infections, previously known as STDs which is pejorative) are something I worry about. That's why I find it important to get educated about them, and to know and be aware of the risks of doing this job. What I do in a meeting is keep the light on, visually inspect the skin, stay alert and cautious about genital and fluid contacts, and use protection.

Like most of my colleagues, I get tested every 3 months and see my physician regularly. Some even get tested every month.

Everyone is welcome to partake in the activity of their choice, with the level of protection they are comfortable with. If you are not at ease with an activity you consider risky or are unsure if playing in this industry offers you the level of comfort you prefer, it is perfectly OK to decide that seeing sex workers is not for you or to adjust your meetings to your risk tolerance.

In the end, it's good to remember that "zero risk" doesn't exist in the sex area, whether you have intercourses with barely or extremely sexually active persons. Your job is to be informed, to play in your comfort zone and get tested regularly!

I'd like to add that if as a client, you have an obsession with STIs and/or are intolerant to any risks, contacting providers and expecting them to be virgins is not the right way to go about it. I regularly receive messages where clients, on first contact, expose their fear in a tactless way; asking a provider if she's "clean", "ever had STIs or cold sores", and any variation of "hoping to find a woman with impeccable health and hygiene" will not get you the result you wish to get—I instantly refuse to meet.

So again, stay informed, play in your comfort zone and get tested regularly!

P.S. Using words like "clean" implies that people who have STIs are "dirty". Let me quote someone who has better words to explain it: " [...] this perspective has a serious impact on people’s self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth; especially if they contract a chronic STI, like HIV or herpes. While both of these conditions are treatable and controllable, people are still judged and stigmatized for being positive for either. So many people internalize that they are, by society’s standards, “unclean.” " - Read the article here

Terb definitely has some strong and colourful personalities to be polite. I do not agree with everyone and I have a lot of them on “ignore”.

In terms of members and moderators, merb is my favourite of all three erb sites
I'm just glad here is home and not there... I don't think I could do this work if I had people like that to deal with. unfortunately I'm sure they are a representation on how the general population in those areas think. I'd be terrified to be a SWer over there.

That’s nasty. I’ve fished way more condoms out of trash cans than I should have haha. My question is wtf with throwing away condoms in my kitchen garbage
Question. Where should it be put? When i recieved in my hotel it was easy for me, i would just clean after the girl left and put it in the bathroom trash bin. But with an incall i never know whats better. Usually i remove it toward the end when im ready to finish (i enjoy BBBJ or HJ myself to finish) and the escort handle it, sometimes they just put it on the table next to bed... But i never know whats the best way to be "classy" about it.

Bump from another thread.
What's with an open trash can with multiple visible condoms
lol. so I'm outcall only.. I may provide the condom.. but your jizz, your house, your problem. :D lol

But that does sound like an oversight I personally wouldn't even know to consider if it was me. I guess until it was noticed, I would think the garbage is where it belongs???? If your there for that reason, I would just be happy to see that safe sex is obviously in practice.

Generally, so long it’s not on the floor and in an appropriate spot you’re good.

for me, I ask for you to flush it otherwise I just deal with wherever you put ig

If I may, I would suggest throwing it away in the garbage can of the closest restroom. Bonus point if it's wrapped in a tissue.

I heard its not a good thing to flush them, for environemental issues and they also could block pipes. I never did it myself. But as Nerdsome said, the trash bin in the bathroom seem the nicest place imo, and yeah putting it in a bit of toilet paper "hide it" as well.

If you come to my incall, I provide wet wipes for you to take the condom off and quickly clean yourself if needed. There is a trash can right next to the bed, condoms should ALWAYS be thrown and not flushed as we do not want to have any plumbing issues.

There’s a second trash can in the bathroom, I have washcloths there as well if you need to better clean yourself.

My roommies and I empty all trash cans after each client so you’ll never come in and find little used friends in there.

Why don't many indy sp's tour to Montreal? It seems like so many go to Toronto but the Montreal touring scene seems quiet.

French requirements... Why would they want to?
The job doesn't exactly require french, but everything except clients does, and who wants to visit with someone they can't communicate with. In a location known for being anti English.

Rates are higher in Toronto and Vancouver, clients are less picky and they don’t mind screening so many ladies have moved there permanently or are only touring there. There are a lot of French speaking québécoise that preferred struggling with English and living in Toronto over working in Montreal.

There are too many agencies in Montreal and men don’t want to pay more than 300/h I’m being told.

I try to go to Toronto every two months or so and I can say I see what my friends mean. My rates are considered on the expensive side in Montreal for a black woman but not in Toronto.

My question is:

why do providers have to see clients when having their periods?

Context: we all know for a fact that lots of SWs will use the sponge to hide the fact that they are having their periods. The issue here, and its a very serious one, is some girls will let the clients go down to daty on them!!!

Girls a sponge is not a liquid proof barrier! By doing so, you let the client(unknowingly) get some of your blood to get into his mouth, therefore, in his own body. even if very little, this is, in my book, among the most dangerous sex practice, second to people sharing needles.

Happened to me a few times and honestly I felt the same way you might feel if a client stealth you!
