Awesome Beav, enjoy the sun and warmth, I heard on the radio driving home today that it is gonna be cold again in the north east this week. I would love to see some of those pics when you get time.

GO YANKEES!

I will also be at the Yankees-Pirates game tomorrow in Bradenton, that is, if it happens. Weather forecast is calling for possible showers and thunderstorms. Kuroda is slated to start for the Yankees which is good because I am supposed to go out for dinner to a sushi place after the game.....................

Weather was phenomenal today and all week, so we are due for some bad weather here.

Not to make a big deal out of it because it is only spring training but the stats show that the Yankees have a winning record and are a solid 6th in team ERA despite having played the most games, this could be a telling sign, I will say it again that I think that barring injuries this team will lead the AL in pitching, this is the best Yankee pitching staff as a whole that I have seen in years.

Much of that ERA is being boosted by Phelps, Pineda and Nuno, all 3 of whom have pitched well in the battle for 5th starter. All 3 have pitched well enough to win the job so far, yet only one of them will win it.

BOYZ!!!

This does not surprise me at all..... Winning a few Championships* have gone not only to the "entitled" red sox fans heads, but also to the "entitled" red sox players heads on down to the red sox scrubs.

Obviously it doesn't work that way. None of your teams have won crap, especially the Leafs, and you still act entitled @%#&*!

BTW- Notice that absolutely no one and I mean no one is talking about the Red Sox chances this year, in other words.:help:

You mean in New York...where they are too embarrassed to talk about the Champion Red Sox. :thumb:

We can't stop laughing at you guys...when we are not polishing our World Series trophy...bucko. We have a CHAMPIONSHIP. You DON'T!

It's a lot of fun watching all you Yankees fans acting like spring training stats are going to win the World Series for you. That's pretty pathetic considering the Yanks are 1 game above .500 so far. D-E-S-P-E-R-A-T-I-O-N be thy name. If you get 2 games above we'll just cancel the season and give you guys the trophy....NOT!!! Talk about being entitled. What a joke.

Cheers wannabes,

Merlot

I got to the game at around 12 noon. My companion bought a hot dog and I went and bought some peanuts. We had GREAT SEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The tarp went down at 12:30 pm, started raining around 1 pm, no announcement whatsoever from the Pirates about what was going to happen with the game. It was obviously St. Patrick's Day and there was a large crowd. I guess they wanted to keep selling beer while the crowd waited in limbo, but I later learned that a tornado touched down a few miles away, so it was totally reckless of the Pirates to do this to their fans. We waited until 2 p.m., there was still no announcement, and the rain was getting harder plus lightning and thunder so we hightailed it out of there and went for drinks at a local watering hole. It was at the local bar that I heard they cancelled the game but we knew that was coming. All of Manatee County is under a tornado watch until 11 pm and this was all over the news and the Pirates could not say something about cancelling at 1 pm? It was a total money grab for concessions while fans waited hopelessly in the rain waiting to hear something.

Iggy- No refunds or exchanges on the tickets (says so very prominently on the ticket) so it was a $46 loss on the 2 tickets, plus $10 for parking across the street. Total $56 loss although the tickets are a $5 coupon each on any purchase at a local store called Bealls so I guess we can recoup $10 of the loss.

BTW Kuroda threw indoors today so Pineda will start vs. the Red Sox in Tampa tomorrow.

This is the guy you traded the highly regarding catching prospect for a couple yrs ago ?

I wish you luck..he was a dominant pitcher then...

Good thing that catcher has been a total failure in Seattle..so it's been a wash so far

Meanwhile in Metland...looks like Jon Niese is hurt again

But Syndergaard is progressing nicely :

smuler,

This kid Pineda had to have a shoulder surgery to repair an anterior labral tear early in the 2012 season. He lost the last two years to that surgery and rehab. Last year he suffered a fatigued arm and the Yankees shut him down.

According to nj.com the race for Yankees 5th starter is now down to Pineda and Phelps, and Pineda could possibly win it tomorrow:

Is it safe to say that Pineda is back from his injuries?

Is it safe to say that Pineda has the 5th spot locked up?.

Is it safe to say that Pineda's performance today was this?. Pineda today was absolutely

Here is a breakdown from a fan who was at the game today and posted on another board and I quote-

"Watched Pineda in his entirety today and I was impressed. Had a 34 strike to 14 balls ratio at one point. Slider is filthy. If he can control his changeup more and spot his fastball (which have more movement and act as cut fastballs), he would be great this year. He got it up to 94 at one point today. Mainly 90-91"

He has definately impressed this spring and looks better than ever. Nice to see CC with a strong 5 inings sunday of no hit ball as well. Yanks looks stacked at pitching and not just the starters. Cabral has been very impressive this spring as well.

It was actually a perfect game if it wasn't for the error, overall I have been totally impressed with the Yankee pitching, I have never heard so many fans excited about the rotation, Beav told me at the recent GT that he thinks the Yankees are a 95-96 win team, I will not be surprised if they hit the century mark.

Funny story, the game yesterday in Tampa was delayed when the Red Sox left fielder, Mike Carp, was swarmed by bees. The game was stopped and the grounds crew came out and chased away the bees with bug spray.

When I was at Steinbrenner Field on Sunday, my seats were right behind the Braves on-deck circle. At the beginning of the game I noticed an inordinate amount of bees buzzing around, but not really bothering me. Than I noticed that there was a 7 or 8 year old kid sitting next to me eating a huge wad of cotton candy on a stick. The problem was the kid was eating the cotton candy like a pussy, sort of nibbling at it like a goldfish, so no progress was being made in eliminating this huge wad of sugar. And I was getting pissed because I figured the bees were around because they smelled the cotton candy or the sugar in it. All insects can detect sugar really well. Anyway this kid was driving me bananas and I wanted to tell him he was eating that cotton candy like a total pussy because he was making no headway on it. But then his father, who was sitting on the other side of the kid, did a smart thing. He must have sensed the bees were swarming in our area because he took that cotton candy away from his nibbling youngster and wrapped it in a plastic bag. After that I did not notice the bees again.

Which makes me wonder whether the Red Sox left fielder had some cracker jacks in his pocket.

Game recap here with video of incident:

Super Nova Seen In Kissimee!

A SUPER performance today from Nova.... Yanks have a real shot to have a very special season if this pitching is for real.

6.2. innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 5 Ks vs. Braves regulars. The bullpen finished off the shutout. 1 run allowed the last 2 days against the Red Sox and Braves. The pitching looks good but one concern is Jeter who has not hit at all this spring. He looks like he is in great shape though, and he is featured on the cover of the Yankees program I bought for $5 in Tampa. I also got an Eduardo Nunez poster but I think I will give it to Chercherfemmes.

The program is really cool and has pics of all the farm players as well as the big leaguers.

Yankees have moved up to 3rd in team ERA pitching in the AL and 4th overall in the majors, it might be even higher tomorrow once Nova and the boy's "LIGHTS OUT" performance today gets factored in, the season is really shaping up to be a special one, meanwhile the Red Sox are wwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay at the bottom in team pitching(not looking good at all for them), I'm also really happy for Jeter, it looks like he is going out with a bang(Championship).

2 guys looking to make the bullpen out of ST are Betances and Cabral which unless all the sudden they suck the rest of the spring, should make the team and really help a already strong looking bullpen. Robertson is looking like our ninth innings when we have the lead by 3 or less are in good hands.
