Extreme heat has engulfed parts of western Europe, with wildfires raging in France and Spain, a worsening drought in Portugal, and the third hottest day on record in the UK on Monday.

Fire has spread across 27,000 acres in the Gironde department of southwest France, forcing 32,000 people to evacuate, the local prefecture said Monday night.

The nearby town of Cazaux recorded 42.4 degrees Celsius (108.3 degrees Fahrenheit) on Monday, the hottest it has seen since its weather station first opened more than 100 years ago in 1921, according to French national meteorological service Météo France.

Major cities in Western France, such as Nantes and Brest, also hit new heat records, it said.

In Finistère, on the country's Atlantic coast, fires had first been reported on Monday afternoon; less than eight hours later, the flames had decimated more than 700 acres of land, prompting the evacuation of several villages.

In Spain, wildfires swept the central region of Castile and Léon, as well as the northern region of Galicia Sunday, Reuters reported. Fire also forced the state railway company to suspend service between Madrid and Galicia.

This is no ordinary weather - burning wildfires, melting runways, warped roads and overheated hospitals - this is the reality of the UK's unprecedented heatwave.
Major incidents have been declared by five fire brigades including London with 10 separate blazes across the capital.

Temperatures above 40 degrees celsius for the first time and records broken in at least 29 sites across England - driven by climate change.

So rapid are the changes that it's shocked scientific experts.

The mercury hit an all time high at 40.3 in Coningsby in Lincolnshire - a fraction above the earlier high recorded at Heathrow.

This, after the hottest night ever recorded and Scotland also had its hottest ever day.

Think about all the collateral issues.

Especially to humans.

It's catastrophic!!

Scorching temperatures are sweeping across the globe, with the UK setting an all-time heat record and more than 100 million people under excessive warning or heat advisories in the US.

In southern and western Europe, more than 1,100 people have died from the heat in the region, as wildfires continue to rage in France and Spain.

Hot records are outpacing cool records by more than 10-to-1 so far this year. Climate scientists tell CNN this concerning trend has become more notable in recent years, and is what they would expect from climate change.

Great if it is doing the expected then there is no alarm bells going off because otherwise these same scientists would be predicting the end of the world accurate within plus or minus a day.
It is to be expected that any type of severe weather will bring out the alarmists and scientists, it is their time to shine and they will not waste an opportunity to be in the limelight or make a buck or two and get a couple of million in government grants.

Here's the thing about the IPCC report: it's written by scientists but it's actually edited by governments/politicians. Countries like f*cking Saudi Arabia get to have a say in the content.

So the document ends up being watered down and then hand-waved away by governments who just can't deal with the issue.

Then shit like this happens. When projections of extreme weather in 2050 (done in 2015) start to show up in 2022...YES WE HAVE A PROBLEM

Yes we have a problem, every time there is a forest fire or a hurricane or a flood or a heat wave it is the end of the world.
Yes we contribute to pollution and many detrimental things to the environment but in the end we cannot and never will be able to control the weather and it will change as it is meant to. If living things are not meant to survive on this planet then they won’t no matter what we do, the dinosaurs didn’t.
There were ice ages and now deserts where there were lush forests or oceans all before man ever invented anything maybe more than fire and a club to hunt with.
I think most of our scientists are full of shit and have as much of an idea of what will happen as anyone but of course we are to pay them millions for their doom and gloom theories and governments are more than happy to impose taxes on us that achieve fuck all except go to the usual pockets.

To the Progressives/Liberals intentions matter far more then practical realities. They make policies just to show that they are doing something without considerations to the destructive effects of their policies in reality like Trudeau's carbon tax. Passion and commitment drive everything, and utopia shimmers on a distant horizon. Who can be against “saving the plant”? The journey may seem pleasant enough for a while, especially in advanced and basically well-run countries whose systems were built with “design margin,” robust enough to absorb some bad contingencies. But that can only carry a country – or a global economy – so far. Gwyn Morgan lays out the awful humanitarian results when unworkable government policies driven by decades of green ideology are compounded by war and geopolitics.

You thought about your grandchildren's future, instead of saying it's normal?
Yes I thought about their future. I made sure that their parents received a fabulous education, have a great career and are financial sound and set for life. I have also set up an education fund for the grandchildren.
Unfortunately my abilities are not super human and cannot control the weather, when you find the right pill for that let me know.

No I am not going to worry myself over things beyond my control or that I think are beyond anyones control I will leave that to the bleeding heart liberals that are falling all over themselves to believe all this BS that carbon taxes and the horse shit that these governments are feeding them make any difference.

I have 2 children who are aware of climate change.

Luckily they're not like you.

I don’t think you have any idea what I am like, which is a good thing.
The fact that you or your enlightened grandchildren are not like me I take as a compliment.
Fundamentally I am a realist someone who is not swayed by media bull shit and is capably of forming his own opinion.

So what exactly are you and your aware grandchildren doing to save the planet besides posting crap on Merb.
I presume you walk or bicycle everywhere, only eat fruit and vegetables and only wear clothes made out of bamboo and you have a picture of Greta hanging on your wall.
One of my children happens to be all wrapped up in this environmental crap that you seem to gobble up with glee, I don’t argue with him, he is welcome to his opinion I just don’t share it.

There are as many “expert opinions “ refuting the claims of other expert opinions .
Unfortunately the weather doesn’t listen to these experts, it keeps changing like the weather.

Much of China was relieved after seasonal rains broke the heat spell but turns out it was short-lived.

Many regions are bracing for another heat wave and this one will last through late August. The temperatures are expected to reach up to 42 degrees Celsius.

From June to mid-July, on national average, China has recorded 5.3 days with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit), the most since 1961 during the same period, according to China’s National Climate Center.

Since June, 71 national weather stations have recorded the highest temperature ever. In June, the northwest city of Xi’an experienced 20 days with thermometers above 35 C.

Extreme weather events, such as heat waves, provide examples of how inequality is an outstanding issue in climate change.

The Liberals constantly pushing climate alarmism to push their deranged agenda like a carbon tax, force electric cars, force us to go vegetarian, etc... Government says, Liberal voters obey. Critical thinking is not in their vocabulary. Having said that... Currently, the highest officially registered temperature is 56.7C (134F), recorded in California's Death Valley back in 1913. The hottest known temperature in Africa is 55C (131F), recorded in Kebili, Tunisia in 1931.
