You still did not answer my question. In your own words explain to us how does a carbon tax fight climate change? And yes it is Socialism and it is a hoax. They are scamming us to make money by scaring us and then to impose a carbon tax. The Federal government plans to spend $20 billion of taxpayers money to install public EV chargers. Another money laundering scheme, half of that money will be stuffed into the pockets of these sleazeball politicians and go to Liberal friendly companies that donate money to the Liberal party. A scientific solution is technology that can provide a cheap source of energy, not more carbon taxes, and not to intentionally cause energy insecurity.

Also tell me did you make the switch to a purely vegetarian/insect diet? The far-left say it fight climate change because the planet is heating up. And yes it is Liberal propaganda. I know facts hurt. But that does not change the reality. Accept it for what it is.

Here is food for thought. Every one billion years the sun's intensity is increasing by 6%. In about 1.1 billion years the Earth will be inhospitable to life. It cannot be stopped. The weather will do whatever it wants. The Liberals sure love to control everyone and everything.

I am in favor of considering any, and all, measures that will reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. A carbon tax, or cap-and-trade system, both aim to slow down global warming and give businesses an incentive to develop clean energy alternatives and more environmentally-friendly production processes.

And yes, my diet is largely plant-based. I tried fried insects once while traveling in Asia, but I was not a fan. I guess eating insects is an acquired taste - like being an anti-government science denier.

With insects based vegetarian diet, you will fart a lot! And yes, methane is much more dangerous greenhouse gas than CO2;)

That hasn't been a problem so far. If that changes, I will let you know. I will expect complete libertarian support in my FREEDOM to fart.

Results prove that none of these measures work. All it did was make the government lots of money. The cap and trade system only makes produce more expensive ultimately hurting the poor the most. But what do you care? So long as Socialist policies are forced, the Liberals are all about virtue signalling. Just to put things into perspective, scientists who did not predict a single thing accurately for the last two years are confident they know what the weather is going to be in 100 years.

I love meat, for me going vegetarian is an acquired diet - like being a naive pro-government science denier.

I told you already, you do not follow science. You follow Liberal propaganda. It does not matter what facts are out there, you will do whatever you can to preserve your belief in Liberal propaganda. And this takes us back to my original statement about the COP15 conference, about people willing to accept a lower standard of living (you just confirmed you are willing to accept it) while those politicians are zipping around in private jets and the booking the most expensive hotels (all paid for by taxpayers).

Like Robert Higgs said "The beginning of political wisdom is the realization that despite everything you have always been taught, the government is not really on your side; indeed, it is out to get you."

Like Thomas Sowell said "It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong"

You fit the description that Carl Sagan said, "You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep-seated need to believe".

Greta Thunberg is the biggest fraud of all. She made millions off this climate change hoax. Follow the money! Virtually all of the leaders of the Global Climate Crisis movement have developed lucrative careers and noterietay based on the climate crisis lie!!! Some have sought/ held political office using climate propaganda. Others have developed fraudulent businesses, products, or procedures purportedly ‘fix’ the climate. All use media as personal revenue sources. Books, blogs, movie/ TV productions, public speaking, or consulting to finance the luxuriant lifestyles of leading global climate crisis proponents.

Amazingly, their duped followers deliberately ignore the huge carbon footprint lifestyles’ the climate crisis moguls live... Jetting around the globe ONLY in private chartered aircraft - repeatedly to climate conferences... MANY live HUGE CARBON FOOTPRINT LIFESTYLES in sea side mansions which they claim would soon be flooded… Hypocrite scammers … not to worry, many of the believers treat climate change crisis as a religion!!!

But I am wasting my time with you, does not matter how much evidence I present to you, you will never accept it since it is not Liberal propaganda. I am done here.

According to Valerie Plante, you're living on Mohawk Territory. Not on Quebec Province ground. Perhaps you shouldn't have to pay taxes or pay them to Kanawake council !

Not surprisingly, 56 % of Republicans don't believe in Climate Change.
100 % probably believed in Trump until recently.
America exports its beef to China, being the third largest importer of American beef.

America imports pea protein from China which is a waste product of crystal noodles to make fake meat.

Americans has been brainwashed by the far-left Liberals into eating China's waste, meanwhile they are eating American beef.

Liberal voters have been owned in the name of the climate change hoax. This is just the beginning, more is to come. Wait till everyone is forced to eat bugs.

People consume a plant-based diet for a variety of personal reasons. No one is being forced to eat anything they don't choose to eat. It's surprising that anyone would have an issue with a personal freedom like another's diet.

The producters of beef probably make more money by exporting to China.
The same happens in Canada with pork meat.
The Chinese immigrants in Canada have much more money than most Canadians.

Not yet anyways, but this is a preview of things to come. Eventually it will be forced just like electric vehicles are being shoved down our throats. But you know the far-left does not believe in freedom, one way or the other way they will manipulate or coerce ppl to obey them.

I did try grasshoppers in Mexico and they were not bad. They were small - each about half the size of your fingernail.

Just imagine eating half a handful of popcorn with roughly ground peanuts. Same texture, approximately same taste.

Basically vehicles for oil and salt, my favorite addictions.

If the grasshoppers were finely ground and mixed into a meal for patties...like falafel, I doubt anyone would be disgusted by them.

I also tried raw beetles in Mexico and those were disgusting beyond belief. The worst chemical taste ever.

Seems rather far-fetched and extremely remote, but you're entitled to your opinion and worldview. Good luck with all of that.

I always said the key to combat climate change is with technology, not in the way the far-left is doing with carbon taxes, forcing electric, and doing everything they can to increase the population. The US has achieved nuclear fusion and were able to generate more energy then was used to initiate fusion. For those who do not understand, it takes a lot of heat and pressure to fuse two atoms (fusion, usually two hydrogen atoms to a helium atom E=mc^2). These are reactions that power stars and powers everything on this planet, naturally due to excessive mass lots of heat and pressure is created starting fusion. Why is this so important? It leads the path to lots of low cost carbon free energy that does not create any nuclear waste. Low cost abundant energy has lifted nations out of poverty. However the far-left will never allow that. They loose control and will not make money. Either way, to have fully functional fusion reactors is still decades away.

California's water problems have nothing to do with "climate change" and everything to do with mismanagement of scarce water supplies. Most of California's population lives in desert areas that have been prone to drought for Millennia. Fortunately, parts of California also often receives large amounts of rain in the winter. The challenge is to manage the flow of the rainwater and capture as much of it as possible to store in reservoirs. It sounds easy, but it is not, especially in a state with lots of powerful, leftist environmentalists.

California hasn’t built a new dam in four decades. An estimated more than 80 percent of the state’s winter rainwater is annually wasted. Most of this week’s precipitation is finding its way back to the Pacific, where environmentalists have blocked efforts to desalinate.

In August, Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom feigned outrage over the state’s slow progress on water storage.

“The time to get these dam projects (like Sites Reservoir) is ridiculous, absurd and somewhat comedic,” Newsom said in Sacramento.

If the Sites Reservoir, which is located west of the Sacramento Valley and has been in the planning process for more than 60 years, had been finished, the location would store excess flow from the Sacramento River.

Michael Shellenberger, who mounted an independent challenge for governor last year and is the founder of Public, a Substack publication, faulted Newsom for slow progress on state water storage. Newsom, Shellenberger said, remains captive to radical environmental activists who protest any and all development, and has only jumped on the issue recently over pressure from the drought.

“Gavin has been in the grip of pro-scarcity Malthusian environmentalists his entire career,” Shellenberger explained. “He hasn’t done what he’s needed to do to raise the heights of the reservoirs we have or build the new reservoirs we need.”

Prolonged drought periods that sometimes last up to 200 years are common in the American West, which, according to 2020 Census figures, is now home to nearly 79 million people.

“Water, it’s the dumbest thing in the world,” Shellenberger said. “It’s easy to store water, just dig a bigger hole, build higher walls.”

California’s slow reactive measures to manage the state’s water crisis, however, gave way to a missed opportunity. State leaders could have used the natural disaster to acquire a desperately needed natural resource, but instead, with the storm knocking out power for hundreds of thousands of residents and reportedly leading to at least 17 deaths, their failures ensured the weather event would be a net loss.

As Californians struggled to deal with a grueling drought that has led to water rationing and other extreme water-conservation measures, Mother Nature has this week intervened with an atmospheric river that has led to massive rainfalls and flooding — especially up in our end of the state.

This cycle of drought and flooding is nothing new.

“California summers were characterized by the coughing in the pipes that meant the well was dry, and California winters by all-night watches on rivers about to crest,” wrote Joan Didion in her 1977 essay, “Holy Water.”

Unfortunately, California has left itself dependent on the weather (or climate, if you prefer) because it hasn’t built significant water infrastructure since the time that essay was published — when the state had roughly 18 million fewer residents.

Some environmentalists argue against building water storage when there’s little rain, but they only are correct if it doesn’t rain again.

History suggests the rains will always come — at least eventually, and this week’s ongoing series of storms is a whopper of an example. It’s another reminder that if California expands its storage capacity with reservoirs, off-stream storage and groundwater banking, it will have enough water to get us through the dry spells.

The official government drought maps show that almost the entire state is facing some form of drought, but that the latest storm system has helped bolster reservoir levels. Most of our reservoirs were perilously close to empty, but after the latest storm Lake Oroville rose more than 35 feet in a week and is more than 70 % of normal. Folsom is now at 74% of normal and Castaic is at 53% of normal. Those levels should only rise after the current wave of storms.

Building infrastructure takes time. Instead of being content that we’ve dodged another water-shortage bullet, the state’s leaders need to follow through with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s water plan.

That means jump-starting water projects (like Sites Reservoir, which would increase California’s water supply by providing 1.5 million acre-feet of additional storage capacity) that have been on the drawing board for decades.

Sites got another boost last week when the project was awarded $80 million in federal funding from the Bureau of Reclamation via the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN Act), which provides grants for water supply infrastructure that promotes drought resilience for rural communities and agriculture, urban areas, public health and the environment.

“It’s time we manage water differently in California. More of the same will not provide relief from severe drought— but Sites Reservoir is a new source of drought year water that will provide tangible benefits to California’s environment, people and farms,” said Fritz Durst, chairman of the Sites Project Authority.

Assemblyman James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) has consistently called for quicker action for the Sites project, and in a tweet Thursday morning, he said “Republican lawmakers have been calling for action on water storage for years. It’s time to get the job done, remove the red tape and build new water storage that could capture these flows.”

The need for additional water storage in California isn’t the only issue our state needs to address. It also needs quicker approval of desalination facilities (such as the proposal in Huntington Beach that the California Coastal Commission rejected) and water-recycling strategies. The state also needs to invest more heavily in rebuilding its aging levees to help protect communities threatened by floods — just look at what happened in the Elk Grove area earlier this week.

The state needs to get serious about these strategies now. In the meantime, more and more of the water we so desperately need is doing nothing other than swelling river banks and rushing out to sea.
