So from their logic they will start arresting all drug users because without their demand there would be no drug market, probably not since the government has become quebecs biggest marijuana dealer, hypocrites

The same bs they do every year when there is Grand Prix. It is all a charade just to show to the world that they are doing something and care. They are playing politics. All political theatre.

Journal de mtl also published the mog shot of a 23 years old guy, arrested solely for solliciting sex… I think they are setting up traps and they’ll fill up those john classes.

maybe time for a break or at least to stick with the people you know…

Drug use is a loner's pleasure no matter how surrounded you are.

23 years old... what did he ask for when he solicited, and if it applies how did he learn such thing(s), how did he educate himself in the past... let's say 15 years?

Why congrats?

For subscribing to the pendulum effect.

It's been like this for years when GP is getting close. They flex their muscles. I'm wondering if they are targeting clients that much or if it's a PR operation designed for your grandma to reassure her...

Not exactly that. "L’individu fait aussi face à des accusations d’omission de se conformer à une ordonnance de probation, d’agression sexuelle, de voies de faits et de trafic de stupéfiants." Radio-Canada. This is not your average John. The law is never used in the case of "the sole purpose of soliciting", there is always something else.

Obviously I am not excusing him by any means, but... he appeared as is at 23 years old?

I have a feeling the police are going to target those easy to spot while the real problem, the under-age trafficker and pimps who forces women to do it, will still operate under the radar.

You are right, I missed the end of the article on the 23 year old…. He had other accusations.
But the John school, you can’t be admitted if your situation includes violence and or underage….. so those guys did nothing more than soliciting….

This industry really should be legalized as soon as possible. Enabling adults to be free and make their own choices. And let the law focus on the real criminals.

Id rather it not be legal or an illegal thing, just left alone and ignored, legalization means taxation and permit/license fees which cause rates to skyrocket, and also regulations/rules which more than likely cause service to go down (ala cbj only in Europe) Trust me my friend legalization is not what u want

If it prevents regular hobbyist from getting arrested and enables the law to focus on the criminal part of this business, then I’m happy to pay a bit more and do cbj altough I’ve been in Amsterdam and Germany and I don’t agree with you…. In fact I think Germany was amazing, affordable and a very diversified service offering….

I don't think making it legal will necessarily imply regulations; which is what could bring the taxation and permit/license fees you talk about. By saying legal I'm sure everyone here just means "not illegal". Just like bartering between individual is not illegal and also not regulated (unless it's guns or drug, or other illegal stuff, but you get my point).

We'll have to see what the conditions will be. I'm lost for an explanation here. LE and the DPCP have been quite coherent and knowledge based on the issue of prostitution in the last couple of decades. Johns schools have never been showed to have any effect on recidivism. I can't believe they fell for that. My first impression is that they will be used for client arrested for soliciting during police operations where they post adds for sex in which they suggest that the provider is minor. I'm not a lawyer but I think there is a difference between simply soliciting and in fact having sex with a minor sex worker. I doubt that the first category will be excluded from the program.

But you should know better government over reach is everywhere and they want to control everything. It if is not illegal then yes for sure it will be regulated. Government cannot stop ripping people off with taxes and paternalism is their forte, for sure they will put restrictions like CBJ only and add permits (another cash grab). The best scenario is a deregulated system where all happens on the low without any active government interference. Remember during covid lockdowns, the fact escorts were not legal they kept operating even though everything else had to close down like stripclubs.

You will never have a legal but unregulated system in North America.
It's unregulated now in Montréal and it works pretty well. Just change the word illegal with the word legal and nothing much else needs to change.

Maybe in Canada, but I am skeptical. The government agencies and their regulatory abilities just grows and grows in the U.S. It employs all these young people with “soft science” degrees and the so-called journalists have to get their input into everything. It is the illegality that keeps them away. The system in the U.S., including screening, works well except for being prohibitively expensive. No way the government in the U.S. leaves the industry alone if it were “legal”.
Believe me canada too, you must have seen tredeau’s massive overreaches concerning covid, legal guns, truckers, big central government is becoming more and more a reality in North America

These articles are aimed at the dudes who book on all these classified ads and don't do their researches. Behind them (the law and these peoples behind the campaigns) i think there is good intentions. I wouldn't want to book someone that is exploited either. Of course they can't do it, but they should have "Johns" to explain in articles actually why they are doing this at all. But at least they should open the mic more toward providers and not just the ones who got out of it and were exploited.

Anyway, as some pointed out, every year toward GP its always the same thing, they flex muscle and try to scare clients. Personally i let the tourist have their fun during this event. Im not at all into F1, i don't want to overcomplicate things for myself (aka harder to book due to demand) and well... thats it.

I know some women are exploited, i know dirty pimps exist, i know minors are involved too and some dirtybag look for them. Showing me all of this wouldn't change my view. Its like showing pictures from a gun shooting to a hunter who buy a gun... I personally book in reputed agencies or with reputed indies, with providers who do this on their free will. I see no harm in it. Its an exchange of services just like anything else.
