^^^^^ But China is not a democracy and repression is going on to silent people.
Those on this board always calling on liberals as being communists should take a lesson to learn what is a real communist country. China is the real one.
They do not want to allow the population to get access to non-chinese vaccines because it it would go again their propaganda that China has the best science in the world. In fact their own vaccine was acceptable in efficiency with the original COVID virus, but totally useless again Omicron. Also, Chinese do not trust their government and did not run to get the firs vaccine. Even the people 60 years and older were less than 20% to get vaccinated. China tries to make its own mRNA vaccine. The best thing would be that they get the occidental Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine and open their economy.

Did you forget that Trudeau admires Fidel Castro and China's Communist government? He said it all publicly.

And for a democratic country, we were not too far from China. We were under forced masks, Quebec had curfews, and the vaccine passports. These measures violated our rights, this should HAVE never happened in the first place. This was not even democracy because many people and businesses were against these measures yet it was forced on us. This was going too far just for a cold. Decisions about health should always be a personal decision. Government forcing it = Collectivism and that is the basis of Communism. China is what Trudeau wanted to do but there probably would have been a riot in Canada if he tried. Eventually people got fed up because they were not letting us go then the truckers came and put Ottawa to halt. It took him so long after receiving so much pressure from various businesses and groups to remove his silly ArriveCAN app and vaccine mandate to be able to travel. Amazing at how many people keep defending Trudeau. Wake up! This is a very bad man, the worst kind of scum. Liberals want to tolerate everything but freedom. Now Chinese people are fed up, they are normally obedient but China has gone too far. Socialism and the left are a disease.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience - C.S. Lewis

My post simply pointed out that China was in COVID lockdown with a link about the protests. Nothing about calling liberals communists, nothing about China’s vaccine, nothing about the percentage vaccinated, etc. Simply showing the struggles of another country. Your buddy Sene posted something about China the other week with all sorts of stats and figures. But you chose my post for your analogy. Funny how that happens sometimes.

I read your post and understood it.
Funny how some are susceptible some time. Sorry that I hurt your sensibility.
Only the first sentence, "But China is not a democracy and repression is going on to silent people", was relative to YOUR post.
But if the hat fits you, you are the judge. Have a nice day

Wow!!! That is such an argument. There are many reasons to admire Fidel Castro and as much to hate him. The same applies to China but in this case the story is much more complicated and the actual president Xi Xinping is in contradiction with the progress made by China in the previous years under other presidents. But you decided to use a selective memory of history to make your point.
No leader is all good or all bad. Name them: Kennedy, Churchill, Lincoln, Catherine II "La Grande".
Pretending someone is like the people he admires is a short cut that I'm surprised you fall in. Comparing the short lock-down and the mild transitory measures that were applied here with what is going on in China, relative to COVID, is pure demagogy. We had the best vaccines available, free, to all. Our economy is catching up too.

What a statement! Tell me one good thing that Fidel Castro or Xi Xinping did? Not sure if you are a communist sympathiser or trying to play a joke.

You missed the point. I did not say that. Trudeau said that. It was all over the media. He definitely was not pretending, he proved to be a left-wing extremist. Wake up! Those covid mandates should have never happened. To function with threats and coercion for the past two years is not Democracy. Did you see the run away inflation happening? All caused by covid mandates and government giving away so much social benefits. Collective rights (Socialism) substantially outweigh the interest of individual rights (Democracy) is the new reality as democracy died with barely a whimper in Canada.

The last thing you said really wow! Vaccines free??? Are you serious? You almost sound like Trudeau when he said "Forgive me if you will, I don't think about monetary policy". In what delusional world do you live in? Would you work for free?? The vaccines are not free, government paid for them and there are two ways they get the money, one is to tax people more or to print more bills (which causes inflation and that is a hidden tax). One of the reasons there is so much inflation. I am surprise you do not understand that basic part of economics.

Of course, nothing is free. But it was freely available by everybody, poor or rich. By the way, Influenza Vaccine is also free for all Quebecer., paid by the government of course. At the end it will help the population as more vaccination and less people in the hospital emergencies.

It is more than just the cost of something that is supposedly free.

Our Beloved Governments who used tax dollars and increased borrowings to buy the vaccines then decided the order in which they would be distributed.

For those of us who wanted the vaccine, that was an incredible source of frustration. 80 years and up was first. Not still producing any widgets at 80. No problem according to the government.

Oh wait, there was a group that got the vaccines in the early days when only senior citizens were getting them. Members of government. There was never anything more deliciously ironic than watching bartender AOC, who has been arguing for Equality forever, lining up to get her shot before everyone else under the Continuity of Government Act. They said it was to encourage others to do so. I saw only All Animals are Equal, but Some are More Equal than Others.

You allocate scarce resources based on money in the hands of people, not based on the decisions of politicians. The former works much better than the latter.
It is exactly like that, a different set of rules for politicians and another for the rest. Politicians act like royalty. Even during the lockdowns politicians freely traveled and not wear masks. Many had parties too. Only thing is they do it till they are caught and exposed to the media and all they need to do is publicly apologize. No consequences.

The far-left nonsense being pushed by AOC, Sanders, and Trudeau is all a scam. See even Fidel Castro who was a true Marxist, while everyone lived in poverty he was a millionaire, his net worth was estimated at $900 million, not very Socialist at all. Trudeau does the same, pushes carbon taxes and forces electric while he zips around in his private jet. Keep in mind before Castro took over Cuba, it was under a right-wing government and the country was rich for Latin America. Socialism makes everyone poor while Capitalism makes many rich.

This is the problem, Collectivism. No one had the choice, government dictated who got the vaccine first.

Yes I know about the government paying for the flu vaccines, this should help, but this is just a symptom of deeper problems within the healthcare system that has plagued it for over 25 years. The system needs to be completely overhauled. The problems are all over Canada btw.

Most of her constituents were the first ones to fill up the freezer trucks after the morgues ran out of room. Hard working people with minimal medical benefits that had to commute to work everyday during the pandemic because they couldn't work from home or collect unemployment. And yet they still re elected her to a second term.

The assumption that hybrid immunity — vaccines combined with infections — would end COVID’s relentless evolution has fed the pandemic, not starved it.

If getting infected, vaxxed, or vaxxed-plus-infected actually made us safe as COVID circulates, Canada wouldn’t be recording its highest death rate of nearly 20,000 this year.

Yes, COVID has vanquished more Canadians this year than in 2020 or 2021. And the virus has sent more Canadians to the hospital this year than in previous ones, too.

Only a few months ago, the Liberals and the “experts” were saying travel restrictions and ArriveCan were necessary to prevent the spread of the virus. Now they are saying restrictions are not effective and absurd! FOLLOW THE SCIENCE! (I should say follow Political Science). It was always about control.
