Just remember, this is not a " you will not get the virus " vaccine, it will be just like the flu vaccine with a 70% success rate I assume. Will 30% of the population even get infected.

I would take it even if it was only 50% effective just like I have been taking the flu vaccine for the past 5 years even though I cannot even remember when I had the flu last, must have been at least. 15 -20years.

First I am not right or left I just simply hate all politicians.
When it comes to Fauci he is regarded as one of the leading experts on contagious diseases in the world, are you really trying to say he didn't succumb to pressure from above or he just happened to learn now that masks actually do prohibit the spread of airborne vIruses.
Why do they wear masks in all operating rooms why were they wearing masks during the Ebola virus.
Why was the whole of China practically wearing masks.
Science didn’t just suddenly evolve and doctors throughout the world magically just now discover that masks prevent the spreading of airborne viruses.
Fauci bowed to pressure like our own Canadian leading specialist and many throughout the world to protect the ass of scumbag politicians who were caught with their pants down and did not have enough PPE on hand to protect their front line workers and wanted to preserve everything available for them.

Plain and simple Fauci lied. He later admitted it.
Was it a good lie or a bad lie ? That is debatable.
There was no easy solution. The US didn`t have nearly enough spare masks for front liners let alone the general public.
Panic buying and hoarding by the public would have destroyed the supply for health care workers and first responders.
Either way the situation could have been ....should have been, better handled by the White House and senior health officials.
Thousands of lives were needlessly lost.

Science evolves, our top scientist figured a mask was not required for a virus, even watching TV you see masks on every time any airborne virus is around. To come out and say not necessary is against most theories about not catching a deadly virus.

He was standing less than 2 feet away and his mask was not covering his nose. I told him to step 3 feet back and to fix his mask. He stepped back a bit but his nose was still uncovered. I told him that the nose was the major entry point for the virus. He said that there was no virus. WTF ??? I told him to visit a hospital and he replied by telling me that the hospitals were empty. I can`t believe that we are sharing this planet with idiots like him.
There are sub- humanoids thinking like this guy who will make sure the virus stays around for a long time. A few are leading countries like Russia, Brazil and the US.

It's not a question of defending Trump. It's a question of what is a President's duty in a time of a public crisis. The duty is to not create a public panic. One can certainly question how to handle a situation like this, made much more difficult by the fact that the media was selling a ton of fear and negativity at the outset of the pandemic. It's kind of the same reason why it's against the law to yell "fire" in a crowded movie theater. You don't want to create a stampede that is going to cause lots of injuries. Similarly a President has a duty to react to a crisis in a manner that is consistent with not creating a public panic.

Nobody here has suggested what would be the proper course of action, because nobody here really knows what that would have been. Wilson completely ignored the pandemic. Trump minimized it. Are we suggesting that he should have overstated it? I think doing so would have had much more dire consequences for the public. I think the panic to get things would have been much worse and the supply chain disruptions would have been greater. Fistfights in supermarket aisles might have been the least of the problems.

The other things seems to be this notion that there was a "correct" way to handle the pandemic given the wildly conflicting medical opinions even after the pandemic started because nobody fully understood the virus. There was no such thing. All of this is to simply say that there was no blueprint to follow except for a general Presidential blueprint to not create a public panic.
