Around the corner
Trump is an ass when It comes to the pandemic and mishandled it like many leaders throughout the world especially in the beginning.
Lets not forget that as Quebecers we were and still are the New York of Canada.

Why give all the credit to Trump though, how about all those governors and mayors who can’t agree on shit that are suing each other for issuing a mask mandate.
We can give a lot of credit to Governor Cuomo for how well he handled the senior homes in New York.
How about all the people that gather in large crowds without any distancing or wearing of masks to this very day.
Why don’t we give some credit to all the medical so called experts throughout the world not just in the US who were telling us well into the end of March that the wearing of masks would actually be worse as they would lull us into a sense of safety and masks actually don’t provide any protection.

It is very convenient to have the big Orange idiot who everybody can dump on and blame entirely for all this.

Again, you keep mentioning the mask thing. This is false. I’m China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia masks were promoted. I even remember seeing some shit on cnn international where some Chinese dude said wearing masks is beneficial. There is a culture of mask wearing in that part of the world. If you have ever been to any airports like Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore you will always see people wearing masks. This was pre covid as well.

Of course I keep mentioning the mask, why because now everybody is wearing one not just the Asian populations.
Funny why US and Canadian medical experts thought it was not necessary did they think all of China was wearing it just because of air pollution.

Now can you imagine if this shit virus would have originated from the US what the news media would do to Trump.

WOW, there were no masks dude. I kid you not. Even now. I’m working. I can honestly say that precovid if I was called to casualty to see a patient and they were like this dude has tested positive for flu btw, there would be N-95’s outside room. Not surgical masks, n-95’s. You would see patient and chuck it. If there was another flu patient you would get another one. Now you have to keep it for whole day. Back in March and April my colleagues would have to keep one for weeks and have to actually show a beat up worn out mask to their supervisors to get a new one.

These masks were being hoarded like toilet paper. @ a time where there was no clue how rampant the infection rate was, if there was asymptomatic spread, what the modes of transmission were, info was given which some of you are calling lies, lol?? Wtf,get over yourselfs. There are people who needed them then more than you did. It’s that simple of a concept

There’s still not enough masks

In America they should be cranking out n-95’s left and right since half the country won’t wear anything

I went to my local gym in NYC that was recently opened after being closed for several months because of the pandemic. I wear neck gaiters (masks) all the time when riding my Harley, so when the mask rules came into play I had no problem wearing them. So I walk into my gym and they checked my temperature and then asked if I had a different mask that attaches around the ear. When asked why, I was told it was company policy. I'm guessing that they feel it's more secure on the face and the one I was wearing could easily slide down off my face. I've driven 100 mph on my Harley and my inferior mask never budged. I have no problem complying with the rules, but unless your wearing a fitted N95 mask that will truly protect you, a mask is a mask IMHO. Curious to hear if anyone has had the same issue.

Here there is no issue with masks anymore, you can by thousands if you want at Cosco, Walmart or every pharmacy.
No issue with buying hand sanitizer or protective gloves either. I bought a couple of KN95 masks ( made in China) at Walmart $6.90 each.
The only item still hard to come by is Clorox wipes. Managed to pick up two 80per canisters at my local Pharmacy last week.
Other than that grocery stores are full you can get pretty much anything you want like before, prices on some items have increased slightly.
People here seem to be abiding by the rules and wearing masks inside all public buildings, so that is good news.

I don’t think K-95’s are same as n-95’s?

The only mask that an individual who wants to protect themselves from assholes is a N-95. That’s my understanding. Some person wanting protection from people who think covid is a cold and a mask is not needed will not be served by a surgical mask. Not with a cloth covering.

I can tell you in UK we have to keep N-95 for a day, longer if possible. Like they tell us if it’s not soiled after a day wear it another. They are tough to find at a chemists/pharmacy. Amazon will deliver a month out, again, these are n-95 masks. If your vulnerable a surgical
Mask or face cloth won’t do shit unless the other person your with is wearing one. And if your in a country where people think covid is made up bullshit, well? Here in U.K. it’s not a political thing about wearing masks. It’s an asshole/Karen thing. My family in the states can’t get N-95 readily. My colleagues have to use them sparingly in the states. I would defer to my Canadian colleagues to weigh in on what N-95’s are in CHUM or the Jewish hospital for example. I know @ CHUS you can get them, but not as readily as pre covid.

No surprise is right. The US is still number 1 in the world in cases and deaths.
Some countries are planning or even implementing a second total shut down. Are they in a second wave ?
Israel is a good example of what happens when a government lets their guard down. From less than a hundred cases a day in June to 4000 a day in September.
Winter will be bad . The world is close to a million deaths and since countries in Asia and South America are under reporting deaths....who really knows.
The flu , colds and covid19 combining for a 3 punch in a couple of months.
How effective will the covid19 vax be and when will it be distributed to the general population ?
The only solution I have is what science is telling us. Stay away from crowds, sanitize and wash hands, and wear a mask.
Speaking for myself.....I`m bending my own rules, and I`m not a hermit completely.

Not for long, India will pass the US in another week or two. The coronavirus hasn't mutated so a second wave doesn't look like its's going to happen. A second shutdown is not a second wave. Winter might not be as bad as we think. I'm not a doctor, but right now many people are cleaning hands, wearing masks, social distancing and taking the yearly flu vaccine so hopefully that will limit the amount of influenza this year. And with the coronavirus vaccine expected in the next few months we might have a reasonable chance for normalcy by the summer. Science is definitely the way to go, cleaning hands, masks, social distancing, I can totally agree with you there.

NEW YORK — The coronavirus outbreak could kill 100,000 to 200,000 Americans, the U.S. government’s top infectious-disease expert warned on Sunday as smoldering hot spots in nursing homes and a growing list of stricken cities heightened the sense of dread across the country.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, made the dire prediction of fatalities on CNN, adding that millions in the U.S. could become infected.

It was March 29, and we're almost at 200,000

Increase production of N-95’s, not K-95’s, but the real deals. Not by a little, but a shit load. Not just for health care workers, but make available for general population.

U can issue a mask mandate like Biden says, but not sure half the country would follow. For the half of the population that do want to be protected I guess make sure they have the proper masks that would protect them.

It’s highly likely that even after vaccine some will need masks

Not sure what’s involved in making a shit load of these?

My guess would be the ecmo and heparin likely no? Maybe you know more than me my merry friend? But my experience is that covid causes more clotting issues, not sure about the tendency to cause bleeding. Could be wrong though

Dance, almost no mask, many meetings, alcohol served after midnight. More than 200 people appeared to be completely unaware of the threat of COVID-19 during a party night at a Laval restaurant on Saturday night, Lordia.

The problem is alcohol. This is the reason why I drink alcohol right at home, because with my friends, my inhibitions, my rationality, disappear.
