Vaccination: Quebec's strategy hailed around the world.

While elsewhere, we advocated the administration of two injections as quickly as possible, Quebec has instead opted for as many people as possible to receive a first inoculation, even if it means delaying the second dose somewhat.
A bet that was initially criticized by many, but which seems to be paying off.

They could see that basically we had good protection after a first dose and we could afford to postpone the second.

In the end, this strategy initiated in Quebec was even adopted by the federal public health authorities.

High praise from a leading American cardiologist. American cardiologist and geneticist Eric Topol praised the Quebec and Canadian approach on Wednesday.
On Twitter, the scientist posted two graphics illustrating the success of this approach.

Anti-vaccine Pastor learns the hard way about science.

I love how these people as soon as they actually get sick they abandon prayer and go right to the scientist for help.
If you have set you mind on not listening to the experts, then there is nothing any of us can do. You need to start with an open mind base for meaningful discussion to take place. That is the problem with the MAGA crowd.

Texas Hospital Workers Suspended Over Mandatory Vaccine Policy

Jesus Jiménez and Niraj Chokshi
Wed., June 9, 2021, 8:13 a.m.·3 min read

Nearly 200 staff members at a Houston-area hospital were suspended for not following a policy that requires employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Their suspensions followed a protest by dozens of workers Monday night against the policy.

The hospital, Houston Methodist, had told employees that they had to be vaccinated by Monday or face suspension. Last month, 117 Houston Methodist employees filed a lawsuit against their employer over the vaccine policy.

While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends health care workers get a flu shot, and some hospital systems require it, few companies have required COVID-19 shots, despite federal government guidance that says employers can mandate vaccines for on-site workers.

After reading this twice I still didn't see how the 4 people died. Was it COVID related?

Four patients treated in the oncology unit of CHUS Hôpital Fleurimont in Sherbrooke have died since May 20, not of cancer, but of COVID-19.

Healthcare workers could be the cause of the outbreak, which affected 16 patients and 7 employees.
Five of them were not vaccinated, according to the head of the hematology-oncology service of the CHUS, Dr Michel Pavic.

Today, Trudeau visited the Pfizer plant in Belgium and said thank you to Europe for saving our bacon during the pandemic.

The side effects is not what concerns me what concerns me the most is the cases of anaphylactic shock which is life threathening and very serious it can send you to the ICU with tracheal intubation. Very scary stuff. The worst part is they got no idea what in the vaccine is causing these severe reactions and it happens more to younger people. Older people suffer much less reactions and side effects.

You have the right to be afraid, but to date 2.5 billion doses have been administered in the world, many have not been afraid.

With covid it's much more serious it can send you to the ICU with tracheal intubation.

I am not too sure about that... I am divided on the issue. I rather wait a bit till there is more data on anaphylactic shock.

Maybe you should ask advice to the families of the 600,000 deaths in USA...

You have a right to have concerns about this stuff. The vaccines have only been approved for emergency use, so there's plenty that we don't know. Waiting until you get vaccinated, or not, is something you and you alone will decide. Personally, when I had the opportunity to get vaccinated back in February I jumped all over it. Not because I trusted the science, the media, or the politicians, I trusted my gut and wanted to finally be free of the fear of dying. That's exactly what I got from my vaccination and I have never looked back or regretted my decision. Nor should you.

600k deaths in the US is an accurate count. But, by the time the US really started rolling out the vaccines in January and February there were already 400,000 dead. Now as less people are dying from Covid in the states and as the US get's closer to magic 70% one shot vaccinated number more people are going to reevaluate if they want to get a vaccine at all. Plenty of people from all walks of life that are anti vaccer's and they should be able to chose their own path out of this pandemic.
The problem is that those people not willing to be vaccinated put at risk a lot of people. Remember the protection for fully vaccinated people is around 90%, not 100%, and we don't know if any variant will lower this.

As june 15th in USA: https://usafacts.org/visualizations/covid-vaccine-tracker-states/

At least 174,674,144 people or 53% of the population have received at least one dose.

Overall, 145,768,367 people or 44% of the population have been fully vaccinated.

With roughly 33% of Americans hesitating or not wanting the vaccination, it's hard to share your optimism to the magic 75%. Even if you lower it to 70%, the road is still long to go. Deaths are on a plateau, not really going down and organizing lottery, giving hotdogs don't do much to convince people on something being still a political issue rather than an health issue. Too many leaders, as Ron de Santis in Florida forbidding mandatory vaccination proof to get access to a cruise ship. I truly hope USA will get to this 75% fully vaccinated but the sooner will be the better and I can't see it in a near future even if this country has a huge production capability.
