So what you guys are saying basically is that Hutchinson is a suck-ass backup goalie? Well, at least Toronto signed him cheap- $700,000 on a one year deal. The Leafs could probably do better for a backup goalie, but when you have a couple of star players signed to huge contracts, on the back-end of the roster you have to have some cheap, suck-ass scrubs to whom you can pay peanuts. That is how it has worked in salary capped sports from the beginning of time.
Speaking of backup goalies, did anyone note the 31 save, .969 save % performance of Georgiev in Ottawa last year? I figure that Georgiev could play around 30 games for the Rangers this year and he looks up to the task, unlike Hutchinson, who is a classic scrub, scrap heap backup goalie.
