Haunted Hotel ?

I had the pleasure of meeting Amanda this weekend ....

Here is the interesting thing that happened on friday nite : the room that i was in was a bit spooky or wierd since when i checked in, I sensed that there is something or some presence in the room. I ignored it but when amanda entered and we went into the bedroom she told me that she is sensing some funny thing in the room as well so we left the bedroom and went back to the living room. (note, it was a suite so the bedroom was separate than the living room). That said, we had our session on the couch and it was very nice, although she told me that she was seeing things in the bedroom. I think the spirits were excited to see her naked so they were hanging around. I agree with her that there was some spooky stuff since i thought i saw somethng moving as well. Anyway a bit wierd nite but at the end I had to leave the room since I did not want to be alone there ! The next nite she visited me and it was excellent again since the room was normal since I had changed rooms, and we had a wonderful time. I will miss her when I go back to my home. Oh yes, she smokes but I don't mind that since I find it sexy watching a women smoke.

Nick, check out the movie "1408" based on the short story by Stephen King. You will see that John Cusack had a very similar experience to you in terms of the room. However, I am not sure I would recommend to you what Cusack ended up doing at the end of the movie, as you could be arrested.

You did the right thing. It is the hotel's obligation to provide you with a non-haunted room. If the room is possessed by spirits you should change rooms (as you did) and leave the burden of exorcism to the hotel. It is not your problem.

I am getting hard as I write this review !

And I got hard reading it and remembering Amanda.......too bad I can only get to Montreal so often.

Up to now, only one room gave me the creep...it was a very humid and somber one at Hilton Bonaventure

She saw things in the bedroom? You switched rooms because you were scared staying in that room by yourself? Come on, people! You've been watching too many scary movies lately & your imaginations are getting the best of you!

Sorry for the late response guys i got busy at work (had to work extra since i spent too much money on sp's last weekend)but it was 10th floor rm in sq phillips hotel. i always stay there since my company sends me to mont for work. anyway its a very nice hotel but bldg dates back to 1919 (i chked) so who knows?

Some of the older hotels or hotels in older buildings have had murders and/or suspicious and unexplained deaths, and may be prone to having rooms possessed by spirits in some cases. Again, refer to the movie "1408" where this topic is probed more deeply. The next time you go to that hotel ask the manager if the hotel maintains records of unexplained deaths at the hotel, or in the building since 1919. This is the research that was done by the Cusack character in "1408." If you are ruthless enough in your research, I am willing to bet good money that some time between 1919 and now, there was an unexplained death in the room you stayed in, or in the building. The hotels will not usually tell you this shit, but this shit does happen, and it's a question of talking to the right manager and perhaps giving him some money to get these records.

By the ways, has anyone noticed that the Omni has no 13th floor? Does anyone know the reason for this?

I noticed this as well. Its not that uncommon. I am told that a few airports in Europe don't have gates with the number 13 (Geneva was mentioned to me but I have never been there).

Many, many hotels don't have a 13th floor. I was actually surprised to see that the Intercontinental does have one. Technically though, they all have a 13th floor it's just renamed 14th.

Seems to be a Montreal thing - superstition only - many office buildings downtown don't have a 13th floor.

On my first of two stays at the Intercontinental in February, I was given a room on the 13th floor. I didn't think much about it at the time, and the room was fine (no presences or spirits that bothered me). However, I stayed there from a Thursday to a Sunday, and the whole time I was there I saw maybe 2 other people on the floor. The floor was dead quiet 99.9% of the time, except when the maids came around. Afterwards, I attributed this to it being the dead time of year for hotels (February). In retrospect, however, I am not sure if that was the only reason.

Probably all of this discussion on haunted rooms/hotels should be moved to another thread if the Mods can do that. While it's interesting to discuss, this thread is supposed to be about Amanda.

Beave, '1408' was just a movie. It wasn't based on a true story. All fiction.

Not believing in ghosts & a bunch of momojumbo has nothing to do with being spiritual or not. When i was a child, i believed in ghosts & that Dracula & the Wolfman existed. Hell, the Creature from the Black Lagoon scared the hell out of me at one time. But i can't believe that there are grown-ups on this board who still believe in this nonsense. Do they think of werewolves everytime there's a full moon? Do they still think of vampires everytime they see blood? It's total nonsense!

But one thing about Mr. Doc, though....he certainly is karismatic!

I'm with you Doc. I have a feeling a bit of hysteria and two people bouncing it off each other may have fueled the fire. Also I thought a lot of the comments here were made tongue in cheek, dark humour, and I was cracking right up. Now I'm not so sure......

This topic however is far more "sensible". We all know that there is no real vampires with teeth sucking blood out of your body, however there are people sucking up you energy, thats the modern vampire ! The result is almost the same The wolfman is more difficult to put into a modern picture, we all know that the moon influences the gravity on earth, especially visible with the tide phenomena. We are made 70% of water so the moon creates our own tides in our bodies. Some people can get very agressive during full moon like a wolf.... Ghosts are modernly explained with remaining frequencies of dead people, other explanations exist....
The creature of the Black Lagoon I have never heard of....can you tell the story, Doc ?

You guys have basically pronounced Nick and Amanda as liars, yet you were not in the suite they were in and don't know what they experienced. I am not prepared to make that pronouncement. I am open minded as to supernatural phenomena and I believe the story that Nick has related. Also, it is not Nick's problem when he pays for a suite (and presumably a lot of money), that he should be greeted by a supernatural presence of some kind. Whether there may be some rational explanation for what Nick experienced, we also don't know. But we have two different people who have reported the same experience in the same room. I have not had the same experience but I know others who have at different lodgings, and the fact that Nick relates his experience may be important to anyone who might stay on the 10th floor at the Hotel Square Phillips. If it was well accepted that this was "mumbo jumbo" and nonsense, then the whole genre that exists of horror in fact would not exist because it would be predetermined as unbelievable and unworthy of attention. That is obviously not the case, and if we look at the incredible gross revenue of certain recent horror films, a lot of people obviously do believe that this phenomena does exist.

I've been in a few haunted hotel rooms. It's always the same when it happens. A woman's pants fly off, $170 or so of my money disappears, and I never see the woman again.

I don't know if i should agree with this statement or not. However, i must admit that whenever there's a full moon, it seems that the nutbars roam the street more & act nuttier than ever!
