How to archive private messages

Is it possible for me to archive private messages or do I have to delete old ones as the maximum of 50 messages approaches?

I tried the 3 options to transfer text to my hard disc but none of them worked. I have a mac with os 10.3.9 using firefox 2.0.....

Sorry - my mistake - 40 is the max.

Ok - I finally found the file on my desktop - downloaded files tend to remain hidden unless I click on the desktop a few times after.
