Yea , they did get alot smaller today didnt they? seems there going one direction and the Leafs another, and we both no which is the better direction:D
Doc Holliday said:
A smurf, yes. But what i don't get is how a diminutive 20 goal scorer can obtain a $5 per year salary.

Other smurfs acquired today:

Mike Cammalleri
Scott Gomez

(Teams will love playing against Montreal)

yea, but its a OLDER big Hal Gill......... pfffffft
Doc Holliday said:
Let's not forget that the Habs did in fact obtain Big Hal Gill today, though. The team's size average immediately climbs up with him alone! :D

i see my job as puppet master is working just fine, now back to pulling your strings Hockey Adonis :D

(when YOU actually get some Knowledge of Hockey, then i will pull the string that moves your fingers,so you may type some actual hockey facts/news/ heck even make something up that makes sense, until then, no dice amigo)

Hey I wish you no harm Iggy. In fact I sincerely hope that whatever caused the damage was limited to your head and did not affect the rest of your body. Stay positive, keep trying. One day in the distant future you might find things starting to improve. Continued best wishes to you!

Wanna bet!

Does anyone know of an online sportsbook which is offering odds on the Canadiens making the playoffs next year? I wish to make a sizeable (for my means) bet against.

If all the players on all their competitors' teams and farm teams succumb to the Bubonic Plague or they otherwise somehow qualify, I can always make it up by going into business selling crack to Gainey.

Unless someone can suggest a mechanism to ensure that bets are paid, (particularly after having been welched upon by Joe Tennie) it doesn't make sense to me to bet with (anonymous) merb members.

The guy Burke really wants is Rick Nash, who'll be an unrestricted free agent after next season.

Not happening – Nash locked up long term by the CBJ

Besides, if Nash did become a UFA next summer, it’s unlikely he would sign with a perennial loser team like Toronto. Established first line players don’t want to go to a dead end, sad sack franchise like the Laffs – especially now with that clown Burke running the circus.

Looking at what the Maple Losers have at forward, I can’t see any more than 100 goals total next season but a parade to the penalty box with a line up of goons (Orr, Exelby …etc …). Enjoy missing the playoffs for a fifth straight season! :D

Toronto never would have given him that kind of money,

Yeah right - thats exactly the type of money Burke would have thrown at Nash. Burke has you gullible; sap Laff fans reeled in – hook, line and sinker. Burke had to rely on Brian Murray to put the pieces in place for him in Anaheim and he left the Ducks in a mess. And twice during his time with Vancouver, Burke was a complete bust on draft day. Burke's made 18 picks over two drafts in 2000 and 2002 and came up with exactly zero players who proved to be legitimate prospects. Those 18 players went on to combine for a mere 31 NHL games over their careers. Burke is the most over rated g.m. in the league and won't bring the Maple Losers any closer to a cup!

Who knows, maybe your favorite Habs player will wind up playing for Brian Burke in Toronto & then you can come & cheer him on when the Leafs will be in town! :D

Unless Smilin' Brian can use his great charisma and charming personality to convince Chris Nilan to come out of retirement that ain't gonna happen with me.

”Soon to make its debut in Montreal: The Smurf Line -- the most overpriced, undersized line in NHL history featuring $18 million in salary annually courtesy of Scott Gomez, Mike Cammalleri and Brian Gionta.” ------Eric Francis (Sun Media)

In the CFL, Pinball Clemens was able to use his diminutive size to advantage. Defensive players had to stretch downwards to reach him. Even if they did touch him, tackling bringing him down was difficult due to his low center of gravity.

The Smurfs will be tough to bodycheck as they will be lower than the shoulders of the defensemen. Maybe they can skate between Chara's legs. As a bonus, if they are hit, they will draw penalties for blows to the head.

With Pascal Leclerc, Kovalev, and whatever they get for Heatly, it's Ottawa that will make the playoffs not Toronto. :)

As for the Leafs, with their defense being the NHL's worst they could only go in one direction  and if they do end up unloading Kaberle there sure won't be much offence coming from the blue line. :D

I love the Leafs defence right now....big!!!!!!!!

Kaberle-Komisarek-Beauchemin-Schenn-Finger-Van Ryn-Exelby

Spares: Frogren-Oreskovic-Stralman-White

p.s. Now i wonder if this means that Kaberle will be shipped out. Maybe to Boston for Phil Kessel?

Useless! You can't win games if you can't score goals - the Maple Losers will miss the playoffs and have the lowest goals for in the league next season.

the Leafs also are in pursuit of the team's captain, centre Rickard Wallin.

Start planning the parade route! A second string goalie and a third line centre from the Swedish league - all part of Blowhard Burke's master plan to keep the Laffs a perpetual mediocre team.

I'm so happy that the rumors having him come to the Rangers ( AGAIN ) are now over...

Thank you God
