Everyone thought Kovy was a rental player for NJ I was surprised when they offered him 17 years.

I wasn't, since it was the only way they could re-sign him. The last few years of the contract were bullshit & wasn't a reflection of the 'true' lenght of the contract....which is the main reason why the arbitrator agreed with the NHL & allowed the NHL's decision to stand.

It must be August ..... the Leaf blowhards are out and telling us how great their team is going to be by signing a sixth round draft pick and poaching some undrafted Euro from the German league. At this time last year, our two resident village idiots were boasting the Leafs would make the playoffs and potentially cause a surprise or two. Sounds like a similar refrain a year later, but noticeably a bit more subdued – that wouldn’t have anything to do with finishing in 29th place? One spot removed from the NHL crapper.

Seriously, why isnt Price signed yet? Seriously??????? They slap Halak in the face and then refuse to pay their Starter, "Starters Money"???? who is running the show there, Mickey or Minnie, cause mini bob sure doesnt seem to have a clue

That "Swiss" backup could be playing for the Habs today.....and be a local favorite! So, how about that Carey Price, eh? :D

Care to venture a guess as to which of the two resident Leaf blowhards "Manics" is ?

http://my.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?user_id=51444&post_id=10072

I was thrilled for the opportunity to be around this group of finely tuned young guys.

My eyes go wide as I gaze upon finely chiseled pecs and abs.

My head is spinning and I just want to get my hands on some guys and get to work.

I say, "you'll enjoy this". I squirt a large amount of K-Y warming body massage on his back and he gasps slightly from the sensation.

sounds like you have a gay fixation to deal with, not judging however, you do what you need to do to keep yourself happy but please dont make it so obvious to everyone here, ,,,, and this has to do with the title of this thread how?

Keeping with the thread title, when is mini Bob signing head case Carey Price anyways? lol, it would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny if Price holds out for 4 mil per...maybe you can get the dust off Kenny Dryden to be your goalie, heh heh...the "Curse of Halak" could haunt you for a long long time my silly habby friend.

Here's what Leaf village idiot #1 had to say a year ago ...

I remember a year or two ago when some Habs fans were making fun of the Leafs being an old & slow team. No more!!! The Leafs are young, fast, tough, skilled & will scrap with anyone other teams throw at them. No one will dare push around their smaller, skilled players, knowing full well Ron Wilson will send out an army of tough guys to take care of business if that every happens! The Leafs have one top player who could be considered up there in age, and that's Jason Blake. But Blakie is still one of the fastest players on the team & can still score. He'll be relied upon for his leadership more than ever now. Watch out folks, the Leafs mean business & not a single team will take them lightly this season. Habs fans, be afraid! Be very afraid!!

Habs & Bolts swap goalies

The Montreal Canadiens dealt minor-league goaltender Cedrick Desjardins to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday for netminder Karri Ramo.

In 90 career games with Montreal's AHL affiliate in Hamilton, Desjardins was 49-27-5 with 2.34 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.

The native of Edmunston, N.B., was an AHL all-star last season while going 29-9-2.

Ramo, who has spent parts of three seasons with Tampa Bay, played for Omsk Avangard of the Kontinental Hockey League in 2009-10 and posted a 21-17-4 with a 2.11 GAA and .913 save percentage. He's expected to spend this upcoming season in the KHL.

Good article? You meant to say "great article". Thanks! :D

Well Doc, I wouldn't say it's a great article, mainly because he comes to the wrong conclusion when he makes the mistake of thinking the Leafs will be good next season, when most intelligent hockey people realize the Leafs are still crap.

I must give him credit for quite a few excellent observations however. To save people the trouble of reading the entire misguided article, I will quote the key points:

"The Leafs have not made the playoffs in five seasons. They've never had a playoff series post-lockout. Even the damn Phoenix Coyotes have seen the playoffs, and they're in the middle of the damn desert!" (By the way, contrast this history of constant ineptitude to the magnificent record of the great Detroit Red Wings, who have made the playoffs for an astounding 19!!! consecutive seasons!)

"Phil Kessel's fat face is 23 years old." Kessel is a "Philip Seymour Hoffman look-a-like".

Phaneuf "looks like he's pushing 40". "Maybe it's his cro-magnan brow."

Gunnarsson is "23 and has never known the touch of a woman."

So, there ARE several valid and excellent observations, which I have quoted. Unfortunately, the rest of the article lacks the quality of these quotes.

Canucks sign free-agent prospect Billy Sweatt

The Leafs acquired Sweatt's right in a summer trade that brought them Kris Versteeg from the Blackhawks. They let Sweatt hit the market on Monday amid acrimony between GM Brian Burke and Sweatt's handler.

HockeysFuture.com provides this analysis of Sweatt:

"Sweatt’s remarkable speed, along with his talent to remain in control at top flight, is what stands out the most. He also possesses good decision-making skills, sharp vision and supple hands, all of which make him a quality playmaker. Sweatt knows how to play in his own end as well, as he has improved his defensive awareness and has become an effective penalty killer."

Classic move by Blowhard Burke and his giant ego.

Burke specifically wanted Sweatt in the Versteeg deal, then when the player decides not to sign with the 2nd worst team in the league and explore free agency, Burke implies the kid is greedy and his agent is not very smart. Burke's style of dealing with prospects -- unflexible, impatient and no respect. Who would want to sign in Toronto for an idiot like Burke.
