Habs acquire Robert Lang, give up on Sundin

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/259714.html

... I think it's going to be a great situation. It's a great hockey town."

An excellent pick up by Bob! Can't wait to see him reunited with AK27! :D

btw, what have the shitty Toronto Maple Turds done this off season? not much, just trade away their best d-man - looks like another year out of the playoffs, that makes 43 straight seasons without so much as a sniff of the Stanley Cup finals! :D

Right! And even Ancient Cliff Fletcher the "interim" (ha ha) GM was quoted as saying that TO has only one (!!!!!) top 6 forward. To make matters even worse, he said that their one(!!!!!) top 6 forward is - wait for it - Nic Freakin' Antropov! This laughingstock of a team couldn't beat the 6 year olds who play ball hockey on my street!

I don't recall ever posting that.

The only prediction i'm making is that the Leafs won't finish in 1st place this year, and neither will the Habs. And neither will they finish in last.

It is really trading Lang for Grabowski. I think it is a good trade as now Habs have a better chance in making the playoffs and moving forward in the playoffs. Now they have 3 centers that they can count on.

Exactly - its the 2010 second rounder we got for Grabovski and it gives us some great depth down the middle to go along with Saku and Pleks. Good job Bob!

Still a lot of money to pay for a 37-year old journeyman (whose heart & passion has been questionned numerous times during his career) whom many didn't even know was still playing in the NHL.

Saku's still playing hockey?

He's been invisible the past couple of seasons.

Good point Doc - he hasn't been dominating the NHL scoring race for the last several years like all those Maple Leaf winners of the Art Ross Trophy!

You know Doc, right after typing that, I realized that the words "Maple Leaf" make Canadians think of 2 things: 1. the listeriosis epidemic and 2. really shitty hockey....but at least the listeriosis epidemic hasn't lasted for 41 freakin years!

It's amazing how Habs fans are so obsessed with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Shouldn't they instead be talking about their own team instead of worrying about other teams?

It's true that the Leafs are the greatest franchise in hockey history, and Canada's team. But still......

oh really?

Leaf fans jump off bandwagon: survey

http://www.thestar.com/Hockey/NHL/article/497899

"Our fan base has certainly been getting disenchanted, and losing three years in a row after the lockout will do that for you," said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. "The Leaf fan is aging and is being replaced."

Meanwhile, Montreal's fan base keeps growing as evidenced by the number of sell outs @ the Bell Centre and all the kids you see wearing the Red, White & Blue. Hockey fans in Toronto are too embarassed to put on a Maple Loser jersey  and have started cheering for the Habs! :D

Smaller arena in Mtl. Also, you see kids wearing that crappy-looking sweater & this is proof that the fan base is growing? Say what?
