Anti-Gun Nuts had the asses handed to them in a recall election. Of course the standard Liberal BS about Voter Suppression where in some counties the Democrats were the dominant party. It's interesting that Chicago Illinois has some of the toughest gun laws in the USA while also having one of the worst violent crime rates of any major city in the US. Then you look at New York City (also with tough gun laws) that city has a relatively low violent crime rate. Thus there's little, if any, correlation between stricter gun laws and crime. In fact when Australia outlawed guns their crime rate shot through the roof. Now they're rethinking it.

Criminals will always find it easy to obtain weapons: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...crat-for-blaming-recall-on-voter-suppression/

Rump lets start with CNN: owned by Ted Turner , x-husband of Jane Fonda , not what I would would call right wingers.
Yes, Ted Turner owns a lot of stock in Time-Warner, but he hardly has a controlling interest. So Jane Fonda once had left-leaning politics and may still. Are you suggesting that her husband follows her lead? I suppose then that Mary Matalin is a staunch Democrat as well.

Now NBC: yes a division of GE led by CEO Jeff Immelt who is not only a personal friend and supporter of Obama but also head of Obama's economic advisory board.
Immelt, as a businessman, has one responsibility: to his stockholders and their wealth.

Corporations exist only to produce wealth for their shareholders. Their politics follow suit. You can take your head out of the sand any time you choose.

Yeah, the same liberal media that played along with Clinton's bogus impeachment. You nutblog suckers make me laugh.

Ally...Ally.. Ally, you're so uninformed. This is the Bengazi Cover-up investigation that Obama is stonewalling. Do get a clue before spewing that crap.
Jesus H. Christ. You're still on Benghazi? Um, how about the guy who ignored the 9/11 warnings. Get your head out of your ass, Marty.

Good for you, Marty. You found another new source of all "head up the ass" nutblogism. When are you finally moving to Idaho.

Hey and what about Waco and that cover-up.

Rump your belong with the cast of "Trailer Park Boys". Flithy talk , insults, and very seldom any intelligent words to add to the conversation.

Want you don't know about corporations is comical.

Oh, you know how much I know about corporations?

Excuse me, your holiness, I didn't know we were to watch our language on an escort review board. But, sorry, Guido, I don't suffer fools gladly.

Rumps I know enough about the stock markets to made some good coin, and that's the real test, as opposed to Economics 101 theory.

A person that is properly brought up, should be able to converse with others, regardless of where the discussion takes place. Manners, respect, and a little intelligent thought would cost you nothing and enhance your credibility.

FYI not all people on the escort review board have to be ho's & whore mongers. You could learn a lot from someone like Sidney ,and many of the other escorts ,that you may under estimate as to being intelligent and able to contribute without all the trash talk.

Remember that there is a potential wealth of knowledge and information available on this board.

I've noticed that. He'd rather badmouth the messenger than address the content. Why? Because he's either scared or incompetent to rationally respond. It's sad, but his responses are still quite Pavlovian.

Yes people do invest in corporations, and most people own a piece of that corporation in their 401K's, mutual funds, retirement plans, etc. Funny how certain people complain about corporate wealth, but they're cool with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen or anyone in the Hollywood set being multi-millionaires. Somehow their greed for money is condoned.

Corporations aren't perfect, but they built America and have employed millions of its citizens and continue to provide post-employment pension income.

Wealth may be evil to you ... but I never had a poor man offer me a job!

No, I have no problem with wealth. I do have a problem with dopes who buy the Limbaugh line that the media is liberal hook line and sinker. Were they liberal when they lined up behind GW Bush when he attacked an unarmed Iraq? Were the liberal when the bought into the Clinton impeachment charade?

So Merlot & Rumps, I challenge you to read the entire book. Not just dismiss it because it comes from a conservative.
I can read a url, Marty. foxnoise.com. Bill O'Lielly, the house bully? No thanks.

Rumps sounds like you have a case of Limbaughphobia because he challanges the Emperior. So instead of an intelligent conversation you slag "dopes" to anyone who isn't intimidated by your rhetoric and bully style of debating.

The commie , extreme left, thinks that business is evil because that is the view of the cummunity organizer occuping the WH. Corporations are bad but bring on more & more entitlements , that's good. Debt ceiling , no problem, we'll just have to print more FIAT currency.

People may be gullible ,but their is a limit ,to how much more of the Obama lies that they will tolerate before he is challenged by both the right and the left .

Merlot unlike your hero BO, I'm not a lame duck, and when I get attacked simply because I don't share either Rumbs or your political views, I will respond in kind. If you decided to drop all of your BS, and personal attacks ,then I would be gentle with you.

When challanged by an alternate point of view you try to deflect. Your just not able to use all of those grey cells are you? Lots of dribble and no substance to your wacky post.

You probably believe that "occupy wall street" was just another love in.

If you can't stand the heat then get the heck out of the kitchen.

Merlot other than insults and stupidity you are have very little to offer.

Our dispute has to do with you insulting me without any provocation . I really don't care what you think about Twitter (which came out today with their ipo) nor do I concern myself about your childish name calling. My intent was to take a poke at the schoolyard bully and let him know that there are consequences to nasty behaviour.

Bill O'Rilley also considers himself to be a "moderate" in the no spin zone. Go figure !

It's also curious how you & rumps work as a tag team ,almost connected at the hips ?

Gotta say, Merlot, you hit a lot of nails right on the head. Not much to add to that.

Bill O'Lielly a moderate. And I'm Wilson Pickett.

Oh better yet your twin Merlot calling himself a moderate. How weird is that?

That was the point but Merlot was too busy nick picking to grasp the contraction.

Contraction? What were you contracting? My sense, from what you've been "writing," is that you've contracted cranial leprosy. What, pray tell, is your first language?

As I have said, my dispute is not with the speed of twitter to inform everyone something has happened in the Middle East or anywhere. On that you are right. My dispute is with the ability to transmit what has happened accurately/truthfully. Who is sending the information? An Arab unhappy with the regime or one trying to support it? Is it an American diplomat required to support the administration or a tourist? Or is it a Russian, Al Qaeda, or someone else with a narrow agenda?

Merlot,

Twitter is a snappy content delivery platform (others might have used the term real time). Therefore twitter is what you want it to be. If you follow JoeTheSandwichEater or FatRobertTwitterConnectedBalance all you are going to get are stats on how often and when Joe eats a sandwitch and on how efficient fat Robert's diet is.On the other hand, if you carefully select your Twitter friends, then your timeline will get more interesting. Actually, the word carefully does not even apply here. Selecting and discovering new friends is an iterative process, a trial and error thing. Over some time, you will ultimately converge towards a pool of "friends" that you consider reliable and/or informative.

When you login to Twitter, the first thing you see is your timeline, this implies that the recommended use-case of Twitter is actually to build a circle of Twitter "friends" and follow their tweets. Many journalists tweet now, so as I said, a few lines above, Twitter is a malleable platform and can be what you want it to be.

PS. I have discovered this discussion about the value of social networks by chance, since it is burried in the "I hate Obama" thread. It would be a good idea to move it to its own thread. At least it is more interesting than "The shower or not to shower" thread.

HFE.

I was on Twitter one night and #manifencours ("demonstration in process") started trending. I followed the hashtag and found that it was referring to a huge demonstration downtown Montreal. The first one at night. Around Concordia. I went to my regular news sources - nothing. Strange.

When I first heard of Twitter, I was as skeptical as Merlot seems to be today. Then, I started my first Twitter account 6 years ago, because I read on a now-defunct-blog that it was cool to be on Twitter and that it was cool to be among the early adopters. Twitter allowed me to find out of some major events on this planet. Like the PRISM scandal or the Lac Megantic accident that was tweeted by Amber McArthur, a tech journalist that I follow.

Twitter is the ennemy of some dictatorships. It has been blocked in Egypt and in Iran in the past because these respective governments wanted to prevent the population from using this site for coordination purposes.

Finally. I read bad things about Twitter as an IT company. Though, the site is still useful when you want to get some real time information. Very useful for earthquakes too. A few years ago, the soil was trembling below my feet and I finally resorted to Twitter to find out that this was actually an earthquake and not just my neighbor doing his usual handy work.

PS. I do not work for Twitter and will never do.
