yeah, it really sucks to have good goaltending  which is something Toronto doesn't have!

Yeah, but Toronto does have Andrew Raycroft and that's gotta be worth something. Raycroft's goaltending may not be effective but it sure is funny!

The Leafs ran into a bit of bad luck, that's all. They're still learning to play together as a group & getting over their rash of injuries. The season is still in its infancy & there's a lot of hockey to be played yet! I'm a bit down on the Leafs, but i know for a fact it's only a matter of time that they start racking up the wins & surpass the Habs in the standings.

Aw shit, Doc - looks like the Leafs were unlucky again on Saturday in their 5-1 humiliation loss to the Coyotes. Oh well, at least no one can say Toronto choked in this one...since they were never in the freakin game!

What a hopeless and pathetic bunch of losers, but - to be fair, they're very aptly carrying on the 40 year tradition of ineptitude that all Hogtown hockey teams have established.

Good move by Maurice in pulling Raycroft, not that it mattered (not that it's likely ever to matter with this national embarrassment of a "team").

Looks like the fairy tale is also ending for the Habs as reality sets in. They're just not a good team but at least they aren't as insufferable as the Leafs.

Both these squads have "loser" written all over them but the Habs are likeable losers.

At least Montreal is in 5th place, while the Toronto Make Beliefs are 14th :D tied with the last place Caps with a league low 8 wins

The Make-Me-Laughs might end up with a top 5 pick, but they'll probably trade it away for another third string goalie :D

Doc I'm glad to discover that you have finally seen the light and are admitting the truth. In fact I think you're being hard on Maurice - as I've said before he and Sundin are the only two worthwhile elements of the team. The poor coach can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit!

Face it: neither team is very good but a goaltender is part of the team. If the Leafs as a team (including the goaltender) "dominated" the Habs as a team (including the goaltender), they would have been winners -not losers again. And, like them or not, shootouts are now part of the game. In a battle of two bad teams, the Leafs lost.

Wings assistant G.M. on Toronto: "Why would I want to go there"

Can't blame him, who would want anything to do with that loser organization :D

Excellent article gohabs. Also, rumours are circulating that the Leafs have approached inmates in all Canadian prisons offering a full pardon if they would become the new Leafs GM. The response was unanimous: everyone said they would rather serve their complete sentence, possibly with additional time tacked on.

Motto: Toronto, it sure ain't pretty - in fact it's damned ugly!

The Leafs easily beat Atlanta tonight. The whole team played great. Doc is back on their bandwagon. Golf Leafs Golf!! :D

a lucky win against a bad and struggling Atlanta team  - don't get too comfortable on the Maple Loaf bandwagon - you'll be jumping off after Pittsburgh beats Toronto tomorrow night! :D

Say what?? Atlanta's been one of the hottest teams in the NHL since they fired their coach over 10 games ago or so. Kovalchuk's also found his scoring touch & is one of the league's best, along with Marian Hossa.

Hey Doc, maybe Atlanta was just unlucky. (Isn't that the excuse some people use whenever their team loses?)

Can't argue with you Doc. Like I've been saying for years, the Leafs and the Habs don't belong in the NHL. They're both damn lucky there are no longer only six teams.

In fact, of the hallowed Original Six, only the Red Wings have been consistently good over the past decade...and I have to admit that even the Wings had some bad times before the arrival of Stevie Y. Like the great organization they are, however, they rebounded...unlike Toronto (mired in four decades of uselessness) and Montreal.

So what do you make of the 90's? They played great hockey once Cliff Fletcher & Ken Dryden took charge & were led by Doug Gilmour. What about the 70's when they played very good hockey for the most part (great coach behind the bench...Roger Neilson) and knocked off the Islanders in the quarter-finals when Lanny McDonald scored in OT in the 7th game?? I'll admit the 80's sucked until that ol' fuck Ballard finally kicked the can!

The 90's? At least the Habs won a Stanley Cup in the 1990's! How many Stanley Cups did the Maple Laffs win in the 90's? ... yeah, that's what I thought ... ZERO

The Maple Losers must have at least made the Stanley Cup finals? at least once in the 90's when "They played great hockey once Cliff Fletcher & Ken Dryden took charge & were led by Doug Gilmour." ? nope ... not a sniff of the finals :D

The 70's? WOW!!! The Maple Losers actually won a playoff series in the 70's!!! meanwhile, the Habs won 6 Stanley Cups in the 70's! :D

A lucky win for the Laffs against a tired Pittsburgh team that played the night before and didn't seem to have much energy, so even a bottom feeding team like the Maple Losers can come away with a fortunate win. The Habs (who also played the previous night) were simply the victims of a few unlucky bounces!
