Utley got a 2 game suspension. To me that is not enough.

Had the Mets player not suffered a broken fibula, we wouldnt be talking about anymore. Mike Napoli did a similar slide into Ryan Goins of the Jays the other day and barely anyone noticed. I've seen similar plays throughout the season and nothing was done about it. Actually, those plays were treated like a big joke on the news broadcasts when the highlights were shown.

What bothered me was the fact the umpires and the replay officials rewarded him for that take-down by telling him to come out of the dugout and go back to 2nd base, even though the replay clearly showed he never came close to touching 2nd base. Had he been called out like he should have, the Mets may have just won that game.

By the way, i've watched that replay over and over and i still cant figure out what the replay officials saw that made them reverse the call. They must have absolute evidence that the 2nd baseman never touched the bag. I've yet to see an angle which showed this.

Doc

I rememember a 2 seasons ago when the Tigers 2nd basemen Omar Infante was taken out during a Blue Jays game in a very similar manner. We lost him for a few months and we had to put an automatic out in his place. I can't rmemeber who did it but I would have thrown at his head if I were the Tigers pitcher. It was a cheap shot...very similar to undercutting a basketball player or clipping a football player or cross checking/high sticking a hockey player. I can't believe that a fellow millionaire would do this to another. They are both sucking from the same tit. I hope someone throws at Utley's head or takes him out the rat-bastard.

Utley started his slide at the base. True, if Tejada wasn't hurt we would not hear about it but the fact was he was hurt. What does this do to the Mets chances now? I'm not a Mets fan but I feel bad for a team where a guy is injured during a dirty play. The Dodgers gain by a dirty play.

I find it ironic that in the day in age you cannot touch the catcher and you cannot block the plate (both are ridiculous) you can do something like this to a middle infielder? Utley should be out for as long as the player he injured.

Great series so far. I'm happy to say that the Chicago "In Theo We Trust" Cubs surprisingly knocked out the team with the best record in baseball, the St Louis Cardinals. As for the Mets , they're now headed for game 5. Maybe Chase Utley knocked them out of the playoffs in game 2.

In the AL, the Astros may have just blown it by blowing a big lead the other day. Game 5 is today. And later today, my Blue Jays are at home against Cole Hammels and the Texas Rangers in game 5. Go Blue Jays! :thumb:

This is probably the best baseball game i've ever seen in my entire life!!!!!! :thumb:

Has anyone seen such a crazy play as the one at the top of the 7th?? I've been watching MLB for nearly 46 years, and i don't recall ever seeing such a crazy play!

p.s. Of course, it helps that the Jays wound up winning the game.

What a game in TO, emotions were flying and it was really exciting to watch with crazy twists and turns, I would have loved to have been there, Elvis Andrus is either the worst fielder in Baseball or the fix was in to get TO to the next round, he was involved in all three errors in the 7th inning, two badly missed balls that my dog would have made and a third play that should have also been made by him despite the bad throw by the first baseman, end result is that TO advances which is great to see for Baseball in Canada.

SNL couldn't have written this one better about the Rangers. But the Torontocatcher hitting the opponents bat while throwing back to the mound and the guy on third scoring off that was amazing. This game was the Halley's Comet of all sports.

BTW: Go Cubs.

I agree!

Even though the Jays would have had an easier time with the Astros, having KC as their opponent is a dream matchup considering the rivalry they've had this season. It'll be a very tight series. Same with the Mets/Cubs series. Maybe both series will go seven games. Estrada and Price will pitch games 1 and 2. We're not sure if Stroman or Dickey will pitch game 3. Maybe Stroman will go in game 3 in order to bring him back for game 7 if needed to.

If I can't have the Cubs, GO KC! I thought that dumb late error by Hosmer would give the game to the Mets. Awesome to see the better team rally to win.

And how about that first pitch of the game inside the park HR. Beeeeeutiful. :D
