Cespedes is on fire !!

Best regards

I told you so. I like this guy. And he can run and throw too. He's not just a bat.

Last season it really disappointed me that the A's traded Cespedes to the hated Red Sox. I posted that the Sox had just acqured a potential superstar. I also posted that he'd one day become a mega-star hitting at hitter-friendly Fenway Park.

And then, a shocker for me: the Red Sox traded him to Detroit during the off-season. I couldn't believe it, but i was happy they did it for obvious reasons. But i also wondered if i hadn't totally misread Cespedes. I mean, how could the Red Sox give up on him so quickly? Was it all about finding a spot to justify the head-shaking signing of Rusney Castillo?

Now i realize how correct i was and how wrong Boston was in regards to Cespedes.

p.s. But i do understand why Detroit traded him to NY.

The Blue Jays will face the Red Sox at the Big O on April 1st and 2nd.

Should be a great atmosphere once again and likely many Red Sox fans will attend the game.

I boycotted the game over the past two years, but may make an exception this time around.

They should have the Yankees take on the Jays instead, much more interest and likely will sell out quicker and frankly the Jays/Yanks are now a rivalry meanwhile the hosers biggest accomplishment the rest of the season is to reach .500, of course that means nothing since they are playing loose and winning meaningless games at the end of the season, when in reality they are a mess for the next several years minus a miracle like 2 seasons ago aka the Lucky season when no injuries to them but to every other team happened and career years were had by most.

HOW ABOUT THEM METS !!!!!!!!

And how about those Blue Jays! They clinched a playoff spot last night and tonight will be tied with KC for #1 in the American League. In a couple of days or so, they'll clinch the AL East pennant! Go Jays!

You do know the world series has been won by a wild card team many times, dont you guys?

Jays and Yanks both make the playoffs = Fantastic! Rouge Hosers end up in the basement, again = Priceless!

Have the hosers clinced the worst record in the AL East yet? Worst to first to worst to worst???

On the bright side they have one hell of a farm system, at least that's what the so called experts have been saying forever, just look at all of the great players that have come from that great farm system.

The Jays win again! Oh-so-close to clinching the AL East!

Walk-off homerun by likely AL MVP Josh "The Rainmaker" Donalsdson!

The Jays lead the Yankees by 4 games and also have the best record in the American League!

Go Blue Jays! :thumb:

I've always kind of looked at him as a nutbar!

But considering his career peaked in Boston at the time PHD's were rumoured to be rampant on that team (Manny, Damon, Ortiz, etc) when they started winning their championships, then i'm not totally surprised at his behaviour. Curt Schilling is another former Red Sox player whom i've had questions about. And then there was Pedro Martinez assaulting old Don Zimmer, etc.

It wasn't just the beer & chicken that was rampant around the clubhouse back in those days. Just saying.

Harper is the future of Washington..he should have run the ball out

Papelbon was right to call him out on it

Run the ball out? He wasn't exactly walking, plus 90% of the players would have done the same thing he did and do. And on top of that, Washington's season is basically over. And finally, you just don't call players out in front of the whole team. If you have a problem with their attitude, you meet with them personally. You don't try showing them off in front of the whole team. '

Papelbon was suspended by the team today and will never pitch for them again. He's an asshole and it's understandable why almost no other team wants him.

Disaster in Washington

by Jeff Blair, Sportsnet

The Blue Jays were very much one of the teams sniffing around Jonathan Papelbon at the trade deadline, but each time disparate voices in the room would say the same thing: “Yeah … but ….”

We saw why on Sunday when Papelbon attacked Washington Nationals teammate Bryce Harper, putting his hands around his neck after he ostensibly called out Harper for failing to run out a ball. Papelbon has become a disgrace; and while the Nationals are the biggest flop of the major league season alongside the Seattle Mariners, Harper is one of the faces of the game and as his team has foundered he has flirted with .400 in the month of September. (He also has 123 walks, tied with Ken Singleton for the most in a single season in franchise history, set in 1973, and any time you can get Ken Singleton’s name in your column is a good day, no?)

Nationals manager Matt Williams pulled Harper out of the game but Papelbon still pitched — getting roasted, appropriately. There will be big changes in personnel this off-season (the Blue Jays will make a play for Doug Fister, I’m told) and a new manager will be hired. This will be quite a job, and it will take somebody of, say, Terry Francona’s pedigree to pull it off.

Old school guys will probably admire Papelbon. The Washington media will surely side with Harper. But one thing everyone agrees with: Williams has been an unmitigated disaster as manager. Washington Post columnist Tom Boswell, one of our best, struck an appropriate tone after the incident: “As preseason World Series favourites who now won’t even make the playoffs, they have been cut slack for injuries, a shattered bullpen and novice managing. But for four consecutive years, they have also been accused of choking, sometimes by other teams, after each season ended in tatters. Now, photos for that caption.”

He also dropped this nugget, when the over-his-head Williams suggested the only response was to go out and win the next game: “Would the captain of the Titanic say: ‘We have to put that iceberg behind us and get ready for tomorrow?’”

What a joke.

The Jays came back and beat the Orioles tonight! The Red Sox did the Jays a favor by creaming the Yankees tonight! Jays lead the Yankees by 5 games! Magic number down to only 2 games! Go Jays Go!

On top of that, the Royals lost 1-0 in extra innings! The Jays are now all alone in the AL lead! :thumb:
