Huh? The Oil beat the Wings? As the great John McEnroe would have said: "You can't be serious!" What was the final score?

Obviously - as I've previously stated quite recently - the Oilers are a team with a great future.

Just compare their great performance against the Wings ( a 3-1 victory) to the pathetic 4-0 shellacking the Leafs received when Blashill taught Babs more than a few things about the fine art of coaching.

The Oilers are back on the way up :thumb: , the Wings are headed for their 24th consecutive season in the playoffs, and the eternally crappy Leafs are headed for their 49th straight year of complete and utter failure, as Babcock's legacy gets increasingly tarnished. The Leafs under Babs have a truly pathetic ONE win in SIX games. (Bring back Horachek? Bring back Kessel? Nah - NOTHING will ever help this sad sack franchise.)

To further shine a light on just how inept this team is, just consider that their ONE single solitary win was against the Blue Jackets - who at 0 and 8 lose to EVERYBODY.

It's obviously been tough for a few years but the Oilers have a very bright future...as well as FIVE Cups not that long ago. In fact, they have more Cups in the post-expansion era than any team except the Habs. (They even have one more than the Wings!). And, needless to say, they have FIVE more than some "NHL" teams that we all know!

As I stated on October 19:smile:

3-1. Yup, the surging Oilers had one more goal against the Wings than Buffalo did in its 2-1 conquering of the Leafs.

Moral: Edmonton will be quite good very soon, Buffalo will be decent in the future but not that soon, the Wings need to be a bit more consistent, and the Leafs...well the Leafs just flat-out suck, as usual.

"The Best Coach in the World (since May 20, 2015 - previously referred to as "The Cock" or "The Big Cock")"

Note: The title expresses the publicly stated opinions of some Leaf fans and does not refer to my opinion of Mike Babcock - either before or after May 20, 2015.

Here is a recap of Dr. Babcock's NHL career (regular season win stats):

With Anaheim: 69 wins in 164 regular season games - won 42% of the regular season games he coached with the Ducks

With Detroit: 458 wins in 786 regular season games - won 58.2% of the regular season games he coached with the Wings

With Toronto: 1 win in 7 regular season games - won 14.2% of the regular season games he coached with the Leafs

Positives for the Leafs:

1. In their latest loss (the 6th in 7 games played so far this season) they only gave up one shorthanded goal.:thumb:

2. Dion's stupid penalty very possibly cost them the game - but hey, it's only ONE game.:thumb:

3. Mitch Marner, the 4th overall pick, could be one of the NHL's top rookies this year (along with # 1 McDavid, # 2 Eichel, and # FIFTEEN Dylan Larkin) - oops, SORRY - have to take it back, since Marner (the top Leaf draft pick, at number FOUR!) - isn't even playing in the NHL this year. Sorry Leaf fans, I guess you only have the TWO positives listed above - but hey, at least you're paying your coach a mere $6.25 million for his SINGLE win this year.:thumb:

The Leafs now have ONE win in EIGHT games.

They are very, very lucky that they have "the world's best coach (since May 20)" guiding them. With anyone else behind the bench it is very unlikely that they would have notched that ONE win.

Mind you, some credit for that ONE win should also go to Shanny, to Lou, to Mitch Marner (even though the 4th overall pick is not playing in the NHL), and to the trade of Kessel to the Pens. And let's not forget that FANTASTIC trade for Nathan Horton:thumb: The rebuild is clearly proceeding as expected:thumb: And undoubtedly Toronto's many fans are already envisioning a Cup in the near future. Isn't faith a wonderful thing?

But whatever happens, let us NEVER forget the awesome contributions of the great Peter Horachek.

The Red Wings lost both games against the Oilers and the Flames. I read an article yesterday which stated that the Red Wings are already guaranteed to miss the playoffs. They are also among the league worse in puck-possession teams, which used to be one of their trademarks. It's only a matter of time until the fans start calling the coach 'Blatshit'. :D

Please feel free to post in the future if any of these wild speculations and dream-like scenarios ever actually turn into facts.

For your reference, here are a few examples of "facts": 1. The Leafs have zero Cups since 1967 (in fact, zero appearances even in the Finals), whereas the Wings have 4 in the last couple of decades. 2. The Leafs have one win this entire season - and that was against the last-place Blue Jackets. 3. Mike Babcock has coached 3 NHL teams - he has a winning percentage ONLY with the Wings. 4. The Leafs have made the playoffs exactly once in the past decade, whereas the Wings have made them for 24 consecutive seasons. More facts available on request. Glad to help:smile:

In TOR, the season is going according as planned, play well for the most part, be in most games, show effort but come up short for Auston Matthews or another top 3 pick so LEAFS Fans understand this and even tho you always want to see your team win, there is the bigger picture ahead. Babs will likely be grey by seasons end though as much as he hates to loose but that is what hair coloring is for.

Was Calgary a fluke last year? Could be but it is still early. Look at the Kings who i thought at the beginning of the season will win the cup. They started very bad and have now won i think 5 in a row and looking very strong in the process. Will the Montreal Canadians go 82-0? They will come back to reality soon and Lord forbid price ever gets injured long term.

If the Leafs had a true #1 goalie, they'd have a few more wins right now. Bernier and Reimer are not true #1 goalies. They are pretenders. They both make a bunch of nice saves, but tend to always let in one or two soft goals per game. The only consistency they have is in letting in soft goals which often demoralizes the rest of the team.

But it's a problem many teams are facing, especially the Calgary Flames. With no consistent quality goaltending, teams can't expect to win many games.

I have no confidence in minor league goalies. There's a reason why they're still in the minors. I know Bibeau well. He wasn't even the #1 goalie on his last junior team. The Leafs should try to get Bobrovski from Columbus. They should also call up Nylander and Kapanen. If Max Domi can star in the league with a lousy team like the Coyotes, so can Nylander. Fans won't pay $400 a ticket very long to attend a Leafs game if they keep on losing games at a regular pace.

MISTER Holliday,

This is the year for Babs to see what he wants to keep and what he does not want anywhere near him moving forwad. You can;t have it both ways my friend as we know how Babs does things as in leaving the kids in the minors until they are 100% ready and Nylander will benefit from playing the whole season and getting playoff experience as well with the Marlies who have a chance at the Calder this year, again. Marner was clearly not ready to be rushed and will dominate in junior again and then be ready for the AHL next season where he should do well on his way to the NHL. Just look at the Oliers as an example of rushing their kids and how it took away from their developement. Remember Luke Schenn? Same thing with him. Babs is not the best coach in the world by accident. Leafs fans have wanted a true rebuild for years so embrace it because Shanny and Babs and Lou all have so the fans might as well.

With that said,

GO LEAFS GO!
