Congrats to Garrett Sparks on his first start ever in THEE NHL being a shutout :thumb:

Yes congrats to Sparks.

Let's hope this latest savior has the amazing success that previous saviors had. Who WERE the previous saviors? Let's see: Brian Burke, Dave Nonis, Randy Carlyle, the great Peter Horachek, David Freakin' Clarkson, Phil "the Stick" Kessel, Tim Connolly, Tie Game (or as some uninformed people called him "Big Game" ha ha) Bernier, "captain" Dion the most overrated player in the league as voted by his fellow players, The Monster, Mitch "4th overall pick but not in the NHL" Marner, William "would have got along great with the Burkes" Nylander, and on and on and on...all the way back to Laurie Boschman.

So you want us to believe that you don't cheer for a particular team? Wtf? Then you'll claim that you're not even a hockey fan....

Joffrey Lupul missed the Leafs-Oilers game and has been retroactively (to November 28) been put on Injured Reserve with a "lower body injury" (ha ha).

Is there anyone on the planet who did not see this coming? Lupul has always been one of the most fragile players in the league - perhaps THE most fragile.

My sources tell me the Leafs continue to be a lousy "team". My sources say the "rebuild" is nothing more than a marketing ploy to keep the suckers paying for impossible dreams.

Congrats to Garrett Sparks on his first start ever in THEE NHL being a shutout :thumb:

And in his second start....he allowed 6 goals on 35 shots for an .829 save percentage.

Maybe he's NOT the next savior after all?

Sorry TO fans but it's back to the reality of hockey in Hogtown...and that reality is not a pretty sight.

Leading by Example:

In the latest Leaf loss (6-1), "Captain" Dion was a MINUS FOUR.

(Nazem Kadri, in contrast, was "only" a MINUS ONE. How else did Kadri perform? Well: zero shots, zero goals, zero assists, zero points, zero hits, zero takeaways, TWO GIVEAWAYS, and a faceoff percentage of 25%.)

Gosh, I wonder why the Leafs lost?

Jonathan Bernier

In these hockey threads, he has been called Tie Game Bernier and he has been called Big Game Bernier.

Maybe he really should have been called MINOR Game Bernier, since he has been sent down (WAY down) to the Marlies.

No problem for the Leafs however, as his replacement Garret Sparks turned in a very Bernier-like performance with his .829 save percentage in the 6-1 thrashing the Leafs received.

Congrats on some of those VERY juicy rebounds you served up, Sparksy.

Looks like Babcock still hasn't told the Leafs that you can't win if you don't score.

Shut out again in a 1-0 loss.

Symmetry: Cool: The Leafs have played 26 games and are in 26th place (with 21 points), exactly ONE point ahead of each of the 4 teams tied right below them with 20.

At a miserable 8-13-5 the Leafs are still in the proud position of having NO other team with fewer wins.

Bring back the great Peter Horachek!

Brian Burke tidbit:

The last 4 teams Burke has been involved with (Calgary, Toronto, Anaheim, Vancouver) are all currently in the bottom third of the standings. The highest of the 4 is Vancouver in 21st position.
