I looked at the hotel pictures and of course they all give the impression of a nice hotel and its certainly nicer than the Chablis. However, see the attached daytime picture from the parking entrance view and not quite as glamorous - really a converted 2-story motel. Quite possible her room was at the far-end for privacy purposes.

I know what you mean. Some years ago I traveled to Key West and stayed at the Almond Tree Inn, which at that time was the #1 rated hotel on Key West on Trip Advisor. The website photos (I posted the website below) show what looks like an amazing property. In fact it is a remodeled motel, but it's at least a 4 star property and the rooms are really nice. I stayed there for a week, would stay there again in a heartbeat, but it's truthfully more of a real high end motel than a hotel. Certainly the nicest motel I have stayed at, or seen, in my life, and just Google the reviews and you will see why it's so high rated:
