Daniil Medvedev became the first player to beat each of the men who were Nos. 1-3 in the ATP Finals, knocking off Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem.

He has to be the new number 1 now, after this performance. He went 5-0 in this tournament which is against the top 8 in the world, and he beat all of the top 3.

2020 in retrospect.---since august---dans les circonstances was interesting......big big thanks to all players---male and female---who in tough conditions, empty stadium et en respectant règles sanitaires--confinement gave their best cause they LOVE the game....thanks to all.

So ATP ranking.....top 5.....DJOKO---NADAL--THIEM--MEDVEDEV---FEDERER.......for me the best was of course MEDVEDEV followed by RUBLEV now #8...what a year he had......and Italian BERRETTINI #10 was also impressive.
Nos CANADIENS.....SHAPO 12----MILOS 14 and FÉLIX 21.....MILOS was the best.....SHAPO et FÉLIX ont eu une difficile fin de saison....POSPISIL m'a davantage impressionné.

WTA ranking.....top5...BARTY---HALEP--OSAKA---KENIN---SVITOLINA.......ANDREESCU---without playing is still #7.......SERENA #11and her sister --hum--#78........SABALENKA 10 for me was the most impressive.
COCO GAUFF 48 and LEYLAH FERNANDEZ 88 were always fun to watch...more to come.

Well it's over...can't wait for 2021.

To me, 2020 belongs to Thiem. He was very close in Melbourne and finally had his breakthrough in New York. Medvedev had two good last tournaments (Paris-Bercy and London), but before that he did not make a single final, so it wasn't his best year.. And the main takeaway from London is that both Thiem and Medvedev managed to beat Nadal and Djokovic each. I hope 2021 will be the year when the generation change finally happens, and maybe Thiem will at last succeed in beating Nadal in Paris.

On the women's side the most impressive figure was Iga Świątek, and her demolition of Halep was probably the best women's match of the year. I hope she won't end up a flash in the pan and we will see her again. Sonia was good too, probably the runner-up.

Let's face it, Federer's body is shot and he is not winning another major. He was a great player for a long time, but Nadal and Djoker could overtake him for career major wins.
