Look behind you.
Agree with cloudsurf that Islamaphobia exists in Québec .

Quebecers are not used to the immigrants that the rest of Canada is used to, travel through Canada and you will see mixed races all over the place, of course in big cities but small communities also. Staying in Drummondville and going to small community events around there a person does notice that there are no visible minorities ( at the events ), Drummondville poutine festival and St.Jean Baptiste day I did not see one visible minority, going to Sherbrook or other small communities for racing events with my son, no visible minorities. One of my ex wife's sister and husband lives in Lac St.Jean, bigots and proud of it.

...agree with you Halloween Mike....j'ai le même terrible sentiment et crainte lorsque maintenant je vais dans un Shopping Center ou dans un resto très fréquenté.....dommage... notre sécurité n'est plus assurée nulle part but we have still to enjoy life.

Totally true STN. Immigrants stay in Montreal. Mainly it's a language issue I suppose. It's out west that I once met someone that told me we were racist in Quebec. At first I got offended but then he explained to me pretty much the same as you just did and had to admit he was right. Sadly things did not change over the years. As a quebecer I am ashamed of that. Good thing we have other qualities ;)

Cheers,

This guy is a crackpot. I don't think you should generalize. The victims are decent people who were respected and befriended by their neighbours and colleagues. Quebeckers are saddened. I don't see why you make such accusations of racism.

It's not an accusation nounours. It's more like a statement about the situation in rural Quebec. There is indeed a lot of racism in those regions. Much less present in other canadian provinces. But there, you will get a few remarks sometimes when they hear your french accent, but that is another story ;)

Yes we are saddened. Any kind of violence makes me sick.

Cheers,

Tout à fait d'accord avec toi.

They are making unsubstantiated broad generalizations. Point final.

Never ever mentioned a general grouping just pointing out an observation and my ex-wifes sisters family. Can not paint all with the same brush but the stroke could be wider.

CNN is reporting one of the shooters is a Laval University student who is now banned from the campus. What the hell are they teaching there anyway?

EB there is no real relation with that great university who has educated many internationally renowned physicians, among others. I just read about the shooter. Typical guy who has been bullied all his childhood who turned nuts. Really sad.

Guys, the point I was trying to make is, is this guy a born killer with some screw loose in his head? Did his parents raise him to be a killer? Did he develop radical views on campus which led him to make some bizarre statement with random violence? I was thinking out loud. What causes someone to randomly shoot total strangers?

Was this murder or a "terrorist act"?

Look behind you.
At first a few witnesses claimed two masked gunmen, can see that because of the trama one or two can make a mistake but a few. Guessing the police are certain there was only one.
Calgary had some university student, also a quite guy kill a few students at a party a few years ago, I think he was a police officers son.

RDI a dit ce matin qu'Alexandre Bissonnette aimait les armes et qu'il avait de la sympathie pour Marine Le Pen et Donald Trump.

I think he got into some hate sites that exists around. The internet has pros and cons like anything else. Sadly some nut case get influenced by these hate sites end up committing the most regrettable thing in their lives. He will be in jail thinking for a long time and hopefully come out rehabilitated. One thing that cannot be brought back is the lost lives. Will he regret ? Yes, I do believe after spending time inside and be prevented from freedom as he reaches the wisdom age .... .

Mental health problems is skyrocketing at an alarming rate around the world. It takes just one to go to that extreme and damage is done. We, as parents and good citizens should be vigilant in alarming authorities or the person's parents if we see slight signal of hate towards others before it's too late. Or perhaps report those hate sites and investigate their supporters closely. It's an isolated case really, but sad.

I went to the vigile yesterday to conjure my ow pain. I heard a member of the muslim community say a very touching thing yesterday. I've been here for 30 years. Québec is my city and I cry as much as a citizen (of Québec City) as I do as a muslim. The killer was one of ours.

For those who know little about the Québec muslim community they are a perfect model of intégration. They are highly educated, they speak better french than the average Québécois, they are highly motivated and they interact very fluidly with their neighbours. No one deserves such a killing by I'm tempted to say especially them.
