I'll be there too but I'll watch most of the games from São Paulo. The distance between São Paulo and Rio is not considerable (350 km or 250 miles) but it's quite easy to travel between the two cities with local airlines companies (like TAM or GOL0 which offer several daily flight - sometimes at each hours - at a very low price).

Argentina is so far the best team of the WC.

Greece was boring and I liked the Korean team.

I have no hopes for France (with Italy they are the teams I like to hate). I was also impressed by Uruguay. They have good forwards players.

Diego Maradona is looking good....I hope he will behave properly too.

Greece looked slow against the Koreans, who were predicted to be semi-dangerous in this tournament.

Maradona has actually promised that he will not behave properly if Argentina wins. He has vowed to walk down the streets of Buenos Aires, nude, if Argentina wins, and they actually have a decent shot at winning. So the Maradona promise of improper behavior may very well come true.

Mexico should have lost.

France vs Uruguay was a total bore.

Greece was an embarassment.

Argentina is playing beautiful soccer.

i was listening to espn radio yesterday and there was an announcer just slamming soccer, and saying the reason it will never be big in the States is because there are just to many 1-0 or 1-1 games, and if they somehow changed the rules to allow for more scoring then "possibly" it would catch on more there... could you imagine the uproar if soccer actually did this? people would riot like no tommorrow... crazy stuff.

I have a question...I remember 40 years ago soccer was just starting to be introduced in school systems...now flash forward and it still does not seem to have gained much traction in the US. Why do we feel that is? Too many other sports that are more prevalent and well entrenched? Just curious...

its hard in America to compete with the top 4, (Baseball, Hockey,Football, and Basketball) not to mention Nascar/auto racing, tennis, and since tiger woods, the explosion of Golf....... soccer will never be big in the US.

The only thing that will drive the popularity of soccer in the USA is the large immigrant populations in certain states. In Connecticut Rentschler Field sold out for a meaningless game against Czech Republic.......the people who were at that game were mostly illegal aliens who work in the restaurant and landscaping businesses in CT. The future of soccer in the USA is in their hands. This is why I believe that any illegal alien who tries out for and makes the USA team should be granted citizenship..........giving immunity to all others who try out.

For the natives, I think soccer is close to maxed out in popularity. North Americans demand more violence and action in their sports, which is why hockey and American football are ideal North American sports. That being said, I like watching the World Cup every 4 years.
