Who said that this sport is boring? Watch the ongoing game: Klose received a red card and now Germany is playing with 10 men on the field. Few minutes later Serbia scored. It's 1-0. This game is far from being boring.

This morning, I read in the news paper that there's a new sport gaining popularity in the USA: Beer-Pong.

Wow!!!!! Now try to sell me the idea that Americans love sports with a lot of action!!!!!

Speaking of booze, I have an idea for the Canadian soccer team. Why they don't draft Carey Price as a goaler? Isn't he good at going from bars to bars??????

Hey our friends German discovered that it is not as easy playing against a real soccer team such as Serbia...

Playing Australia would have been piece of cake for any good team since Australia is a weak team (such as swiss for example, ...) but instead of refusing to play (such as swiss lol) Australia tried to play very open against Germany... That's the only reason why Australia has been punished so baddly....

The US-Slovenia game this morning had to be one of the most exciting soccer matches i've ever seen in recent memory. It almost reminded me of a hockey game! Lots of action, controversy, lousy refereeing, etc. The US got robbed of a win when that 3rd goal they scored should have counted. That referee sucked pretty much during the whole game, to be honest. It seemed like both teams were exasperated with his decisions. It was his very first world cup match ever & i doubt he'll see another one, since his performance will be reviewed by FIFA.

The England-Algeria match was terribly boring & the English looked terrible in tying the Algerians. Their tie was good news to the Americans. After this morning's match, i've now jumped on the USA bandwagon. Go USA!!!

Argentina still best team so far despite the bad defense because they have 4-5 best strikers in the world, they can score 3-4 goals every game.

That horrible referee may have done his last match:

The worst thing is being repeatedly asked to explain his decision by the USA players and refusing to do so. It would not surprise me if the FIFA investigation reveals a large cash deposit going into his bank account in the days before this match. We are seeing the ugly pimples of soccer and they all have to do with how the games are being officiated, yellow cards, red cards, disallowed goals etc. It has to be stopped. BTW all 3 goals by the USA were amazing goals!

What I do not understand is why FIFA let this fucking rookie ref the USA-Slovenia game. He should have been reffing some crap game between crap teams. They should have had very seasoned refs working this game.

The ref is under no obligation to explain his decision during matches. However, he does have to file a report to FIFA after the games where he also has to indicate his decisions. It also seemed that he couldn't understand what the players were saying. It's possible that his english is extremely poor. I guess since he's not obligated to speak to the players/coaches during matches, it's no unusual that referees don't speak the languages of the teams whose games they're officiating.

There has been a lot of corruption, including fixed matches, in international soccer, including even past world cups. It would be surprising that the same thing isn't happening now. Matches where it's been proven that were fixed usually had a few goals scored very early in the game, and the rest of the game was played semi-intensively between the teams in order to make them look legit. In 1982, a match involving Germany & Austria was fixed in order to prevent Algeria from advancing.

There's a great book out there (now in paperback) for those that may be interested in reading more. It's called "The Fix: Soccer and Organized Crime", written by Declan Hill.

Video or not video

What's up Doc??
Pour quelqu'un qui n'aimait pas le football avant le début de la Coupe du Monde je te trouve trés bien renseigné. J'ai même appris que tu avais osé regarder des matchs, il n'y avait pas d'émission de pêche a la TV ;)? Of course I'm just kidding.

If we talk about corruption in soccer we cannot forget the defeat of Brazil against France in 1998 while the WC was precisely in France!!!!! What happened to Ronaldo that day is still a mystery.

Well I'm glad EB that you are watching the games !
Hope you saw Ghana vs. Australia with Lee Ady at the very end down with blood spurting from his nose and mouth. They had to get the stretcher and the game was stopped for a while...

It sounds like a loud fart. Not sure why anyone would pay for it.

"ELIZABETH JACKSON: Well, still on the subject of the World Cup and the famous vuvuzela is already a household name and set to become a permanent fixture in international soccer. "
"EILON ARAD: I guess the global amount of vuvuzela sold is around a few millions... All around the world we sell… we've seen buyers from US, UK, Iran, Iraq, and you know… all around the world; it's crazy worldwide."

See... I knew people love to paaaaaarrrrrrtttyyyyy ! :)
