Wow, watching the Yanks / Mariners on MLB.TV and what a horrendous bottom 5th the Yanks pitching staff is having, this is almost laughable. Too bad their bats will probably bail them out but it is entertaining watching them fall apart.

In the last 3+ innings, Yankee pitching (may I call it pitching) has recorded 9 outs, allowed 12 runs.

Looks like Pavano is finished as a Yankee

This is actually very good news as it surely guarantee's the arrival of a pitcher with the initials of RC to the bronx, i also wouldnt be surprised if Cashman is working on some deals to bring in some quality pitching as the middle relief of the Yankees suck the big one also, you cant depend on ARod and the boys to bail you out every night.

Even though the Yankees have been riddled by injuries, I am really surprised at how bad their pitching has been. Last night was just awful.

Wang, Pettite and Mussina in the rotation is still a good start, and if they add Clemens and Hughes comes back in mid-June, I feel that will be the rotation second half of the season. And it is a very good potential rotation. None of the other guys they have used as a starter has really impressed.

The middle relief will be better once the rotation can be stabilized.

Joe. I don't see how this guarantees Ramon Cortez' arrival in the Bronx. As for Cashman working on deals, what do you expect the Yankees to part with to acquire quality middle relief? They aren't parting with their prospects and other teams ain't giving it away.

IF, if, if, if, if they add Clemens. I'm sure glad my team isn't banking on someone they've got a roughly 30 chance of acquiring two months from now. As for Hughes, given the way they've (wisely) nursed him, I wouldn't expect to see him in the bigs before the All Star break.

As for the middle relief, by the time the rotation is stabilized, if ever, the middle relief will be burnt out beyond repair.

Also, do you really believe that Wang, Pettitte, and Mussina will all be healthy at one time for more than a week or two. They've all long injury histories.

I was actually rooting for him too, the only thing that would've been better though is if he lost the perfect game in the 9th on an Arod error. Lol.
I wonder how long before Joe.T starts touting 1 game winner Wang for the Cy. Right now it's looking like a battle between Beckett and Wakefield.

More like a battle between Beckett, Wakefield and my arse!!

Splendid performance by CY Wang today who looks like he is healthy, i expect him to go on a tear and i would like to reiterate my earlier prediction that Wang will win the CY Young.

Clemens A Yankee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roger Clemens just announced from George Steinbrenner's box to the Yankee Stadium crowd that he is coming back............................to the Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As he stood up, Elton John's classic tune "Rocket Man" was played over the PA! Grand theater at Yankee Stadium! Wish I was there!

Likely Yankees Rotation as of July 1, if not earlier:

Cy Wang
Pettite
Mussina
Clemens
Hughes

Clemens should be in the rotation in 30 days. He will be the perfect mentor for Hughes.

I can't wait for Roger's return to Fenway where the Sox will launch the Rocket right over the Green Monster! Mark my words Beav...You're getting a washed up 44 year old dinasour.

No, the Yankees are getting the best pitcher in the modern era of baseball who still has it just like Nolan Ryan did into his late 40s!

I'd have to agree with EB on this one. Clemens is indeed the best pitcher in the modern era. After all, besides the Yanks, weren't the Red Sox also bidding for his services this year?

Clemens: I am ready by June 1 Red Sox series

Clemens just advised the Yankees audience listening on YES network that he should be ready to go by June 1 - which is when the Yankees are in Boston. He said he has been throwing BP and is ahead of schedule.

Clemens said Jeter was instrumental in getting him, as he was constantly calling and emailing Roger and asking him to come back.

Nobody on the Yankees knew this announcement was coming, including Pettite, according to Clemens.

Not only the best pitcher in the modern era, but the best pitcher in the history of the game. That said, the last thing the Yankees need is another 5 inning pitcher, which is what Clemens has become. He is 45 and, while his numbers in the pitiful NL Central have been dominant the last three years, back at the tender age of 42, when last in the AL East, he was little better than a league average pitcher.

Considering that Clemens won't join the team until mid-June, that Hughes isn't expected back until the All Star break, that one of Pettitte-Wang-Mussina is likely to be on the DL at any given time, that the bullpen, which, by the way, sucks, is already torched, Clemens at somewhere in the $25 M range, will likely be too little, too late.

The Boston Globe is reporting that the Sox declined to make Clemens an offer. With three starting pitchers vieing for the Cy Young award, the Sox figure they're all set.

The Yankees are paying Clemens at the rate of $28 M per year, pro-rated from his activation date. This makes him the highest paid player in baseball history.

This takes the Yankees just under $209 M in total, making them not only the most expensive failure in sports history, but the most expensive team of any kind in sports history, exceeding the 2005 Yankees, also a failure, by just over $1 M in total salary.

This sounds like so much wishful thinking to me. Do you have a view into a crystal ball that guarantees the Yankees starting pitchers will be on the DL and the Sox starters will be off of it? If so I would like to peek into this crystal ball.:p
