Dunno. Could be that Schilling had his head so deep in his bible that he didn't know what was going on around him.

Who's that guy on the mound for Toronto and what has he done with Halladay?
With Ryan on the shelf for at least a year and questions about Hallladay's health, the Jays could well be fucked.

I've also heard, and perhaps Doc could speak to this, that the players really hat John Gibbons, want him fired, and will turn it on to the best of their ability when he's gone. Doc?

So who would you vote for for Cy Young if the season ended today? Tim Wakefield with his league leading 1.79 ERA or Josh Beckett with his 7 wins?

Looks like Wake is more proof that the knuckleballer's prime years begin at 40.

The Yankees really do have a might offense. After all, they have scored as many runs as the Red Sox, 192. They also have the distinct disadvantage of not getting to fatten up on Yankee pitching.

Too bad about these sites not having English versions. Do you know if this league uses the field at Parc LaFontaine? I've seen games there, but have no idea what kind of talent or what level of play is being played there.

Triple Crown

Best winning percentage = .703
Most runs scored = 205
Least runs allowed = 126

And an 8.5 game lead over the second place team, whoever they are. A masterful job by Daisuke Matuzaka in winning his fifth game of the season.

While the Sox numbers above may be astonishing, here's a number that's even more shocking. Nearly a quarter of the way into the season, no Yankee pitcher has more than 2 wins.

All Point Bulletin: Missing Person

As the $200 M behemoth fades in the rear view mirror, Joe.T seems to have mysteriously vanished. Is he hiding from us or his bookie? Has he squandered his hobbying budget on the failing Bronx Bummers and is no longer reading the boards?

10 back and starting minor leaguers against the mighty Mets today and tomorrow. How low can they go?

Did you actually see it Joe? He gave up a home run in the first inning and was missing his target the entire time he was in there. In other words he looked like shit against a little league team. Someone of his caliber should not be allowing any hits to a Single A ballclub.

I wonder, since the Stinkees will likely be 15 games out by the time Roger "Too Little, Too Late, See You Next Week" Clemens is ready to pitch, if they'll try to buy him out of the deal and save a few mil.

This just moved on the AP wire:

The Hendricks brothers have a history of inserting unusual clauses in
Roger Clemens' contracts, and this time they've come up with one that
might prove a corker. Word from the Clemens camp is that if the Yankees
fall further than 15 games behind the Red Sox before The Rocket is
scheduled to pitch his first game, he can switch teams.

"It's no secret that I want to be with a winner," Clemens said as he
stepped out of the Yankees' workout facility in Tampa. "If George and
Joe are now going to be big-time losers, why would I want to play for
them?"

The unusual clause gives Clemens the chance to select a team of his
choice and work for them, right up to the last week of the season.
"Roger can pitch for a team or two on a strictly rental basis, and then
when it's pretty clear which team has the best chance to win it all, he
can make the jump," said a Clemens confidant who chose to remain
anonymous. The secret clause was confirmed by a second source in Katy,
Texas who added that Clemens had confided in him, "I want to be with a
winning team, no matter what. I don't really want to have to travel
with them. Of course not. But if the schedule works out nicely that I
can pitch here and there and end up on the team that wins it all, that
would be good. I'm a good teammate, no matter what they say. I just
don't want to have to spend any more time that necessary associating
with the other players, but I'm sure they will admire my work ethic and
maybe a little bit of it will rub off on them and give them an extra
boost. I'll say this, whoever's on my team at the end of the year, no
matter what team that may be, will get a lifetime pass offering them 50%
off on visits during regularly scheduled hours to the Roger Clemens
Museum that we plan to build after I retire."

Glum New York Yankees broadcaster Suzyn Waldman had no comment on rumors
that she was seeking a position as a roving broadcaster, hired to work
Clemens games wherever they might be.

The pride of Japan Dice-K's record now stands at 6-2. Can he reach 20 wins?
His current pace gives him 23. Can he? Sure. Will he? It will require health, continued effectiveness, good run support, and good bullpen support. Winning 20 in these days of 5 man rotations and 34 start seasons is a lot tougher than it used to be. I'd give him slightly less than a 50/50 chance.

If Mike "6.52" Mussina can't dial it up any higher than 85, it's gonna be a long summer for him. Hosed by Julian Tavarez tonight. Imagine the indignity.

The mighty Yankee offense, most frightening lineup in baseball history, are now on pace to score a pedestrian 868 runs. They are 4th in the AL in scoring behind the Sox, Tigers, and Tribe.

They are tied for sixth in the wild card hunt, 7 games behind Detroit. As Yogi said, it gets late early out there.

Joe.T still is nowhere to be found.
