Close, though. Only missed by 28. This rates a perfect 10 on the "If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle scale."

-Meanwhile this years comeback player of the year award winner Carl Pavano(my prediction)WRONG pitches against the Reds today, i just might take the day off work to watch him pitch the lights out.:)

This is fabulous, Joe. Most predictions I've seen set the over/under on Pavano at 8 starts, with the smart money on the under.
Smart money won this one, easy. While the Comeback Player of the Year award hasn't yet been bestowed, should Pavano win it, he'd be the first player in history to win it having made 2 appearances at a 4.76 ERA. Fortunately, Pavano only has one year left on his contract. Care to make a prediction on how long an extension Cashman will offer him?

This rates a 10 on the fucking moron scale. Nice job getting 2 of 3 right in the RBI column.
1. Yankees-Too much fire power, Jeter(Batting title?),WRONG, Arod(40 plus hr?) No credit, too easy, Cano(Batting title?) WRONG, Abrehu, Giambi, Matsui(over 100 rbi?), Wang(CY Young ?) WRONG, Rivera(best reliever of all time?), Clemens(in pinstripes?) all realistic possibilities, need i go on?

2. Blue Jays(Frank Thomas is my MVP pick if he stays healthy, i look for him to club close to 50 hr with well over 100 rbi, also look for them to make some major pitching aquisitions during the season as Rogers has given Riccardi his cheque book)WRONG

3. Red Sox(Boy it sure took a loooooooooonnng time to get that Drew contract signed, what could possibly have been the hold up:rolleyes: , injuries and lack of depth will do them in again and look for big Papi to regress this year which is the likely scenario after someone signs a huge contract which he did last year)WRONG

One more prediction, Igawa will win more games then D-MatWRONGWRONG, care to make some bold predictions Reggy my boy or is your tail still stuck between your legs?:)
and maybe even Rookie of the year

Hello Rumples,

Geeeeez....was Josey trying to be WRONG so many times. Sometimes I think that is the object of his predictions with it happening so frequently. Did I say frequently...lol. He's damn near perfect at it.

Wow Josey,

Sox Clinch.

Hello all,

Hey, hey, hey...Gagne had his second inning in a row without giving up a run or a hit...and while the team was behind by 1 run too. Hallelujah...it's a miracle.

Well, the Sox have clinched. Now do we continue to work hard for the division or nurse the players for the playoffs? The smart move is to rest the players. But I sure hate those %#@*&#$!@ Yankers. One thing for sure, if we just give the division tittle to them as a gift so we can rest our players Joe. t won't be able to understand the difference and he will be kissing Hench's ass as if the boob actually knows anything...lol. If anything is "predictable" it's my sweet pal Josey...lol.

Geeeez Josey, the Yankers used 10 pitchers today. DAMN! Your next starter better be good tomorrow because you wont' have much of a bullpen.

Cheerio,

Korbel

Sadily, Korbel, the Yanks will be reduced to using the corpse of Mike Mussina toady.

What we saw yesterday was one of the most pitiful pitching displays I've ever seen. The Blue Jays ran out their "C" lineup: no Vernon Wells, Frank Thomas removed after two plate appearances, no Lyle Overbay, no Greg Zaun (until the 8th), and no Troy Glaus. Yet 10, count 'em, 10 Yankee pitchers couldn't keep them in single digits. Unbefuckinglievable.

By the way, when Eric Gagne uses his change-up, he's still quite a good pitcher.

Matsuzaka looked fabulous as usual last night against the worst team in baseball, looks like he along with Gagne are peaking at the right momment and will be one hell of a combo in the playoffs, bawhahahahahahahahaha!!!!!:p
Actually, Mr. Fucking Moron, the Devil Rays are the top scoring team in the American League over the last month. I guess that explains in part why they've beaten the overpaid, underwinning Yankees 7 out of 15. By the time the Spankees leave St. Pete on Wednesday, you can expect a 9-9 split of the season series.

Hello Josey,

Do you ever talk straight (tell the truth)? Matsuzaka did okay last night, and Gagne (I'm no fan of his) did his job exactly like he is supposed to, giving up no hits or runs. So get a grip on yourself...other than choking the chicken...lol.

Bronx cheers,

Matsuzaka yesterday: 6.2 innings, 5 earned runs, 115 pitches. If you think that is "okay", then perhaps there has been a major shift downwards in expectations for this guy. To me, he looks like he is wearing down. His ERA in the 6th inning is atrocious, a sign that he is not a durable pitcher as everyone had been led to believe. It is not suprprising to me, because physically Matsuzaka is not very big like the far more durable Wang who can pitch into the 7th and 8th innings without taking a beating or enduring these kinds of pitch counts. Wang has retained the title of best Asian pitcher in the major leagues despite Matsuzaka's challenge to that title.

Hello EB,

Yes, I am very well aware that Matsuzaka got charged with two runners on base when he left the game. But he didn't throw the ball that Pena put into orbit to put those runners across the plate. Obviously, he needs strengthening or something to get him through the 6th and 7th innings. I was not comparing him to anyone and I agree with you about his shortcomings. But overall he was okay...certainly nothing like Josey the king of hyperbole and delusion suggested.

Cheers,

Korbel

Must agree with the Beaver, Korbel. Through 5, Matsuzaka, allowing 3 earned, was slightly less than mediocre. After quickly retiring two in the sixth, he walked two before leaving. Regardless of the fact that he left before they scored, they were charged to him.

At this point, Matsuzaka has an ERA of 4.48, exactly league average. I regard that as a disappointment. My sense, however, is that with a year to adjust to the MLB workload, he will only improve next year.

The Sox are being much more cautious with the workload of the 23 year old Buchholz than are the Spankees with that of 20 year old Hughes or 21 year old Kennedy. I only hope that the Sox give Buchholz a significant role in the post-season, the time of year when A-Rod turns into Mario Mendoza.

How is the playoff seeding decided? if Boston wins the division and the Yankees take the wild card - which seems likely - do they meet in the first round?

No, they would not meet in the first round. In the case of your scenario the Yankees would play the team with the better record between Cleveland and the LAA. The Sox would play the other team.

Looks like the AL Playoffs are pretty well set:
Red Sox, with home field advantage, takes on LA
Cleveland, with homefield advantage, takes on the Spankees

Two things remain to be decided:
1. Whether the Red Sox or Cleveland get to choose their preferred schedule.
2. Who will pitch for the Yankees after Wang and Pettitte.
