Let's see...booted out of the playoffs in the first round four times, choked in the World Series twice, achieved the greatest CHOKE in sports history during the ALCS in 2004.
Another way to explain the above-mentioned Yankees unsuccessful playoffs runs would be that their opponents rose to the occasion.

How about (one of) the greatest COMEBACK in sports history during the ALCS 2004?

Who appointed you the voice of reason? Read again, sir, the convolutions of Doktor Herr Ombudshole. Nobody ever wins anything against the Yankees, they only lose.

The Red Sox have won fuck all!!! you can toot your horn when the Red Sox actually win something of value like maybe the World Series something that should happen in the year 2090.........

Like I said before Rockies in 6, the Red Sox will be lucky to win two games because after Beckett the Sox don't have a starting pitcher that scares anybody.

First of all, it's my Aunt Beatrice. Second of all, do you take special drugs that actually make you believe some of the shit you say?

So the obvious conclusion is that the Red Sox never won anything on their own merit. The only way that they can achieve success is when others fail.
Sad to see that you have such a low opinion of your team
Hello all,

You've heard of the Peppermint Twist, well the EE Twist is even more fun. Just take anything someone else said and twist, twist, twist... twist again into your own slant as the only possible meaning. EE you closet Yankers fan, keep on twisting.

Hello Ziggy,

True, but one team rising to the occasion and the other choking can go hand in hand like cause and effect.

The 2004 ALCS was THE Greatest Comeback/Choke. When one team battles such tremendous odds against so-called Yankee Pride, all those stars, and all that money, and four chances to win, while the hugely advantaged team "couldn't possibly miss"...then you have Comeback and Choke. They are not mutually exclusive. They are cause and the effect.

Cheers,

Korbel

Boras on SERIOUS Drugs.

Hello all,

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7363914

"Boras is seeking a 12-year contract for the 32-year-old third baseman, but the Post said that the Yankees are not expected to make an offer that large."

Holy crap. Boras must either be on crack all day, or he is calculating from a padded cell. Or he has found a fool-proof way of juicing April-Rod throughout his career. Even the Yankers probably aren't this crazy. The Sox definitely aren't. Five to Seven years...if the total price isn't too high. After that he can go about ripping off teams year by year like Clemens.

Yankers...keep him,

Im voting for the whole team to choke, Rockies in 6 maybe even 5.:)
Tell me, Joe, how many Rockies did Hench, Mr. Jack of All Trades Master of None, tab as potential goats?

And howcum you don't seem to be offering wagers on this team you've picked to win in 6?

All writers like Hench are interested in is exposure in the local media. The local Boston, east coast media and fans are more than happy to help him along.

Not a ripple if he wrote about Colorado.

What is this meaningless clutter supposed to be about? At least Joe is entertaining. Did you even take a look at Hench's article?

A) Hench did not write this in any local media, but on Fox Sports website, quite as viewable in Tora Bora as in Boston.
B) Hench did not write exclusively about the Red Sox, but mentioned 10 possible goats in the WS, 5 from each team. Joe, being a fucking moron, chose to only mention those from the hose.

Can you please, please, please, just once, only once, pretty please say something intelligent?

Time to make predictions. Ooops, none from me. I don't predict short series. Anything can happen and the best team doesn't always win. (see: Orta, Jorge.)

The Sox do seem to have one huge thing in their favor: The Curse of the Fucking Moron seems poised to strike the Rockies down in short order. Thanks, pal of mine.

Yes - even read it before posting. You will get more hits from the Boston area than from Colorado or from Tora Bora.

That you and Joe both initially focused on just the Boston angle makes my point.:D You never counter-balanced the post by Joe until now.

Hello Eastender,

Uh EE...I have to withdraw my comment about you living in a state of perfection. Wow...did you even look at the article by St(H)ench that Josey boy put in his post. How did you possibly miss the 5 Rockies players mentioned as possible goats? Geeeeez, now that's underachieving! I am shocked that a guy like you who worships detail seems to have ignored the link completely. Maybe some silly impulsive young teenager stole your handle. Give that very bad kid a spanking. It's quite deserved. Either you didn't read this article, or your statement above makes no sense at all.

Hello Joe.t,

Before I read the article, unlike EE, I thought St(H)ench was becoming a Red Sox hater. Now I see it was only your amazing tunnel vision. Geeeeez Josey, protect your credibility. When you post a link competent people are going to actually read it to see if what you say makes any sense.

Now can you tell me where the Yankers are playing in this year's World Series which St(H)ench predicted they would win? Yeah yeah, I know. You don't care if he has no credibility, you just are so damn desperate to use anything that is negative about the American League Champion Red Sox. Well, that's the Josey we all...LUV!

Toodles,

Korbel

The usual Korbel nonsense and mis -direction. Rest assured I read the article before posting.

Two of the Red Sox listed - Lopez and Gagne are marginal players but red button issues that will get re-action.The Red Sox have depth in their bullpen so these two may be spotted and their weaknesses mitigated.

Hench overlooks a number of central issues. Rockies have a bit of team speed and steal bases. Will they use it? It is possible to run on the Red Sox. How will the Red Sox pitching staff adapt to this situation? How will Varitek perform?

How will the loss of Wakefield impact the Red Sox especially the starters? Will juggling the rotation and changing roles play a part? Will this put a greater workload on relievers?

The Rockies have a bit of an edge at first base with Todd Helton and their outfield is versitile, young and under-rated. Will Helton and the Colorado outfielders step-up and out-perform their counterparts?

Hallelujah!!! At last, a cogent response from EE!! (However, for this person to accuse anyone of mis-direction is laughable at best.)

Hench is really quite silly, as EE points out. Gagne and Lopez are, indeed, marginal and neither is likely to pitch in a situation high-leverage enough to be the goat. Quite tough to be the goat when you're down 6 runs when you enter the game.

He mentions Lugo. The only way Lugo can be the goat is with his glove as his offensive expectations are as low as low can be.

The Rockies don't really have much speed. They were pretty much league average, with 2/3 of their SB by 2 players.

The loss of Wakefield is marginal. He wasn't likely to start in the playoffs anyway as knuckleballers have fared poorly in Denver's altitude. The switch to Lester should be pretty seamless.
