Sure beats giving up 2 first rounders for a smallish cancer that nobody wants to play with.

Don't be so hard on Scott Gomez. By the way, to be more precise, Boring Bob Gainey gave the Rangers Christopher Higgins, Pavel Valentenko & Ryan McDonagh & Doug Janik for Gomez. Hey, he's only making $8 million a year! Plus, look on the bright side, if he keeps up his string, he's on pace to score 15 goals this season! LOL!!!!

What you should be more concerned about is the fact Boring Bob (and his sidekick clown Pete Gauthier) gave the Flames a first and a second round pick for Alex Tanguay......then they let him go for nothing! LOL!!!

Hillarious!!!

Habs lose again! Habs dominated by Philly and lose 3-2 after late rally

PHILADELPHIA -- Jeff Carter scored his 25th and 26th goals and Michael Leighton made 31 saves in the Philadelphia Flyers' 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night.

After Carter scored late in the first period and early in the second, Matt Carle made it 3-0 at 3:17 of the second. Carle's shot from the blue line deflected off Montreal defenseman Ryan O'Byrne and past goalie Carey Price.

HABS REALLY SUCK !!!

what a stupid move, a 2nd round pic for a 4th liner? AND A free agent after the seasons over, AND another smallish forward.. might as well of kept gainey in office, LOL!

I also had to rub my eyes when i saw this on ESPN this afternoon. A second-round pick for Dominic Moore?? WTF??? They could have had this marginal player for the minimum salary at the start of the season. Even the Leafs didn't want him!! LOL!!! A 2nd-rounder?? Wow!! What's Alex Ponikarovski worth? A top 10 first-rounder?? They'll also lose Moore to free agency once the season's over. Wow!! I never thought any GM in the league could be worse than Boring Bob Gainey, but it appears that Zombie Pete Gauthier just beat him for worse NHL GM!!!! LOL!!!!

Leafs have no incentive to win....they know they won't make the playoffs this year.....they're a team with a great future ahead of them and it's time to play the kids & give them some much-needed NHL experience. Look out next season!!!

Jonathan Cheechoo was just waived by the Ottawa Senators, who picked up Matt Cullen from Carolina. Maybe the pathetic Habs will pick up Cheechoo to give them some scoring punch?

Exactly what Leaf fans have been saying for the last 43 years.

Even the french media now says that the Leafs have more hope for the future than the sad-sack Scabbies. Total Leafs lovefest after the San Jose game on the part of the french Mtl media!! Unbelievable!!

(But they're absolutely correct!)

HABS REALLY SUCK !!!..............'ZOMBIE' PETE GAUTHIER SUCKS EVEN MORE !!!!!! :D :D

The future, my friend. The future! Never look back......never, ever look back! :D

I see a day in the near future where current Habs fans will be trading away their ugly jerseys in exchange for a Leafs jersey.....to be part of a great Canadian tradition, and forever ashamed of a sinking ship (a.k.a. Titanic) at the Bell Center. Be proud, Leafs fans.....be proud to wear the blue & white maple leaf!

THE HABS REALLY SUCK!!!
THE LEAFS SUCK SOMEWHAT........DUE TO BAD LUCK......
BUT WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR.....
THE LEAFS WILL SHOW FLASHES OF GREATNESS!!
THE HABS WILL CONTINUE TO SUCK!!!
THE LEAFS WILL ONCE AGAIN BE GREAT!!!!
THE HABS WILL SUCK FOR YEARS TO COME UNTIL THEy FIRE PETE 'THE ZOMBIE' GAUTHIER......Oops!! Make him an adviser to the GM....
LONG LIVE THE LEAFS.....LONG LIVE THE LEAFS......LONG LIVE THE LEAFS !!!

THE LEAFS WILL SHOW FLASHES OF GREATNESS!!

With a lowly, pathetic and embarrassing 19 wins in 61 games, “ FLASHES OF GREATNESS!!” for your sad sack Leaf franchise have been few and far between.

a night out at brutopia after another habs loss

here we see our resident punching bags (ballsonchin, Mrs. Cairo, and GoScabsGo) drowning their sorrows after yet another loss by Les SCABITANTS, the boys are slowly starting to realise the scabs only hope at a cup run for years to come is this season,(yes, even they know thats not happening either lol). thanks to dumb and dumbers 2, ala gainey/clouthier, o well boys, maybe ms. cairo can talk the other 2 village idiots into watching his "favorite" past time, mens figure skating!:eek::eek:...

PS, in case your not sure who is who, it goes from left to right, ballschin/ms.C/gSg.
GSG seems to be looking into his drink for a glimpse of the future and is not happy with what he sees coming from LES SCABITANTS for the next several years, meanwhile ms.C is remembering the last triple , double, quadruple jump his favorite male skater last made, and ballsychin, well, he is just wondering what the hell he is even doing there

You just cut your own throat.

Hey GHG

and when was the last time the Leafs were "GREAT"? A: 1967 - when there was only 6 teams in the league! :D

LOL...gotta comment on this suicidal post.

How did the NHL help the Montreal Canadiens build a dynasty?

http://proicehockey.about.com/od/history/f/canadiens_right.htm

Prior to the 1960s, there was no amateur draft. The recruitment of NHL players was simply a matter of first come, first served. The Montreal Canadiens ensured they were first served by establishing perhaps the greatest farm system in sports history, with junior and senior teams on the prairies, minor pro teams in the U.S. and entire leagues in Quebec. The Leafs operated a similar network in Ontario and beyond.

The Leafs and Canadiens held a further advantage as well. Each NHL franchise had exclusive rights to players within its 50-mile territorial limits. So the Leafs and Canadiens could browse the neighbourhood rinks near Toronto and Montreal at their leisure, while the Rangers had a lock on the next great goalie from Hoboken.

Most of these advantages disappeared in 1963 with the introduction of the amateur draft. But the Leafs and Canadiens continued to benefit from players developed under the old system well into the 1970s.

So basically the Canadiens had a monopoly on all talent in one of the key population zones that produce hockey players and there were only 6 teams between 1942-1967...less before. A monopoly on talent and only 5 other teams to compete against, and 4 of them had poor access to the top talent. You call that a "dynasty"...LOL! That's laughable!

After the effects of the monopoly passed in the 70s and access to talent became fair, with a much expanded number of teams, the Canadiens have won only 2 titles in 31 years once they had to play others on the same level without being able to have so much control on much of North American ( beyond Canada) hockey talent. Now that's the reality of your so-called dynasty era...little more than a monopoly...ish.

Cheers,

Merlot

PS

Not a Leafs fan or much of a hockey fan. Just tired of seeing Canadiens fans puffing themselves up over what was practically a farce.

So how are the Habs this year. Just 1 damn point ahead of the much and often injured Bruins. WOW!
