The Nhl is becoming younger and younger. This is why it is important to play a quick transition game focused on speed. This tendancy will likely continue with guys like Jack Hughes and Alexis Lafreniere set to join the big show in years to come

Lots of very young puppies in the NHL. It’s become a young man’s game. That’s why a guy like Patrick Marleau, a 39 year old warhorse, struggles to keep up. If you put a 25 year old stallion in the Kentucky Derby do you really think it would be able to run with the 3 year olds?

Laine is Finnish so he was fired up playing in front of his home country. I heard the media also stoked him asking if he had read that poll in which 90% of Toronto Leafs fans thought that the American Auston Matthews was a better player. Those Finns know how to push each other's buttons.

Look behind you.
GEO won ( Chaisson looks good ), Flames won and the Habs won...
:eek::eek::whoo::whoo::cheer2::cheer2:

News clip.

But two games into his Oilers career the six-foot-seven Finn came just as advertised — a menacing figure in the net capable of making the big stops under pressure, delivering a win on a night the Oilers were outshot 40-29.

Koskinen was all over the highlight reel. There was the glove save on Chris*Kunitz in the first period, there was a blocker save on Brandon Saad, then Jonathan Toews on a breakaway, then moments later a two-on-one to keep the Oilers ahead while they were being outshot 31-17 at the second intermission.

Yep great win for Oilers ans Flames,,,wow...5 goals in 3th period....impressionnant. Leafs lost again 2-1----perhaps the absence of Matthews is not a big deal--as mentionned by Doc....but i think they really miss him.....the others talented players where are they????

Colorado played their backup goalie who allowed all 7 goals.

Rookie Elias Petterson - a 19 year old Swede- had 5 points in this game for Vancouver and now has 15 on the season. Another puppy! The league is being dominated by young talent that is ready made for NHL competition.

Doc could be correct. My theory of the GEO's bad playing last year could be to Draisaitl's high contract, he was over paid by a huge amount, other players near as good as him were not even close in the wages, could be the reason most did not put in an effort. Now with TO having to throw millions at a chosen few as the rest are not as lucky. If I had a coworker who was just a little better ( as if that was possible  ) and getting 3 times my rate I would not be working 100%.
Just a theory.

NHL Awards Watch

Two 21 year olds- McDavid and Aho - are seen as early contenders for the Hart Trophy, and this is not to mention a 3rd, Mikko Rantanen, who is leading the NHL in scoring:

Buffalo scored 9 goals on Ottawa last night!!!! Pominville looks like he has become a main man player for the Sabres. I thought Eichel would be the main man but Pominville is DA MAN!

I watched that game yesterday afternoon...Pominville played very well and he is showing the way to Eichel----3 passes and 17 pts---who is only 22 and very talented player. Skinner also with 2 goals 1 pass---16 pts----is a good addition to the Sabres..... a promising team....and it's about time.

In PACIFIC division it's the first time since 2009 that 3 Canadian teams are leading....CALGARY 19 PTS---VAN 18 and EDM 17 with only 13 games played......very surprising and very pleasant to watch them playing.

Not surprising the Kings fired their coach. They were expected to be much better than they are considering the kind of money they're paying Drew Doughty and Ilya Kovalchuk.

Next coach to be fired with either be Guy Boucher or Mike Yeo. My money's on Boucher. Todd McLellan maybe? I think he'll last the season.

This was the preseason odds by NBC on which Coaches were on the hottest seats. Note that Stevens, who was the 1st coach axed, was not even on the board with odds:

Todd McLellan, Edmonton Oilers: 11/5.
Guy Boucher, Ottawa Senators: 12/5.
Joel Quenneville, Chicago Blackhawks: 11/4.
Jeff Blashill, Detroit Red Wings: 19/2.
Randy Carlyle, Anaheim Ducks: 19/2.
Bob Boughner, Florida Panthers: 20/1.
Dave Hakstol, Philadelphia Flyers: 30/1.
Mike Yeo, St. Louis Blues: 30/1.

Of this group, Boucher, Hakstol and Yeo might be occupying the hottest seats at the moment. Yeo's status as NHL head coach is being tracked on a website, IsMikeYeoStillCoach.com:

https://ismikeyeostillcoach.com/

https://thesportsdaily.com/2018/11/...racking-mike-yeos-status-with-the-blues-f1n1/

Hakstol coaches in Philadelphia, which has one of the more unforgiving fan bases in North America and the fan blogs are not happy with Dave:

https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2...here-why-does-god-hate-us-what-is-life-crying

The latter blog theorizes that Hakstol will NOT be fired so as to improve Philadelphia's chances to win the Jack Hughes Sweepstakes. The same thinking may also save Yeo's ass!
