they started off the season doing great on the PK, the first few weeks, but then took a step backwards, and it doesnt help with Mike Brown out 4-6 weeks. With Colby Armstrong back things should get better, lets hope anyways.

My only problem with Wilson is that he's been there for nearly 3 years & his special teams keep getting worse. For the past 2 seasons, they blamed poor PK on poor goaltending & personnel. Last season, they signed Mike Komisarek, traded for JS Giguere, Dion Phaneuf & Freddie Sjostrom. They've since added Kris Versteeg & Tim Brent, with hopes these players would greatly improve the penalty killing.

This season, one of the only bright spots on the team has been goaltending, which is often stated as a team's best defense or penalty killing. They now have brand new PK personnel who've succeeded elsewhere in this department. They sometimes made changes to the PK strategies. To what benefit?

! :D

Phaneuf likely back for Saturday's game against Montreal

Leafs have reported that captain Dion Phaneuf should be back in the lineup this Saturday against the rival Habs. Should be a great game!

Shaaaaaaaaaaaaa-WEET!... We really missed Dion since he has been out, hopefully he is 100% and not rushing things to get back.

At the point I praised Doc, his post was indeed # 201. Subsequently, a prior post was deleted, affecting all subsequent numbering.

Don't worry lg: if you ever post anything honest and accurate, I will be sure to praise you also.

Again brother, i thank you. But you still haven't answered my question. How about attending one of the games together in the near future? How about Toronto/Detroit?

Sorry Doc. I'd love to, but I plan to buy a dog and I'll be busy walking it at that time. Enjoy the game!

It's just been confirmed that Captain Dion Phaneuf will make his return to the ice tonight against the Flyers. That's great news! :D

Boucher will get the start for the Flyers, while Jiggy is expected to get the call for the Leafs.

good stuff Doc... lets hope Captain Dion can light a flame under his fellow youngsters... they showed alot of heart last night cutting a 4-0 deficit to 4-2, but the Pens are just so tough, easily the best team in hockey. When the Leafs started this 5 game swing (bruins, caps, pens, flyers, and habs) i said if they can manage 5/6 points i would be satisfied as it would be something the youngest team in the league could build on, well they have 4 points out of 6 possible, with 2 games to go in that stretch of 5 i mentioned above. Flyers tonight should be a tougher challenge than the habs on sat night.

GO LEAFS GO!

The quality of your posts & your insights are absolutely astounding. A non-hockey fan could learn a lot just by regular reading your hockey posts. I totally agree with you that the Flyers should be a tougher test than the lucky habs. The very young Leafs came back in style against Washington, and nearly pulled another surprise last night against the Pens. Man, did they play great in the third period or what?

Is Gunner going to sit out tonight's contest or will it be Komi? My guess is that Komi will play in case the game gets physical. Dion's return is quite welcome & will allow Wilson to rest Kaberle, who's played way too many minutes over the past few weeks since Captain Dion's absence. I predict that Colby will once again be a force, like he's been since his return from injury.

Go Leafs Go!!!!!!! :D

Well thanks for the compliments bro, your quite the writer yourself!

at one point the shots in the 3rd period against the pens were 15-1 in the Leafs favor.

With Alex Kovalev pissed off at his coach in Ottawa & the Leafs in desperate need of some offense, i wonder if it wouldn't make sense for both teams to get together & make a trade. How about the Leafs offer Jeff Finger & John Mitchell for Kovalev? Or how about Mike Komisarek & Mitchell for Kovalev & Foligno? I'd make those trades in a second!

Speaking of Komisarek....if he doesn't start playing sound defence soon & stop taking his stupid penalties, Brian Burke might pull a Glen Sather & bury him in the minors just like his counterpart did with Wade Redden. Hey, now that i'm thinking about....how about Komisarek for Redden straight up?

You're right again Doc: Komisarek for ANYONE would instantly make the Leafs better.

I agree Komi needs to start playing better or he wont be playing much at all.... Is Keith Aulie gonna be a monster for years to come or what? He has been very good so far. Burke insisted he get Aulie in the Dion Phaneuf trade, nice job Mr. Burke!

Leafs/Habs tonight; Jiggy to start

I was hoping for the Monster to start tonight, since i prefer him over Jiggy, but Wilson believes in Jiggy & will go with him because he's french-canadian. Too bad Monster's full name isn't Jean Gustave:

To give the Leafs some extra zip, Wilson will be going with J-S Giguere (6-6-2, 2.90 GAA) in net again, hoping the French Canadian will be fired up to play the Habs.

"Jiggy is going to start, that's an easy decision for me," Wilson said. "He'll be particularly motivated ... playing Montreal is a big deal for Jiggy and because of his French Canadian heritage, he'll be all jacked up."

Tough loss for the habs last night in Detroit, a game they could have won had they not taken so many stupid penalties in the first period. I predict Carey Price will get the nod in the net. :D
