Well said bro!

Did you see Greg Mckegg got screwed out of being on the Jr team today? He is 5th in scoring in the OHL with 40 points already.

Whether it's on the money or not, it's still not the proper thread to post it in & he's been warned (and suspended) way too many times about this kind of stuff.

What disappoints me mostly is that there are always the same group of guys who post in these threads simply to stir up shit & cause problems. They never post anything positive or constructive. It's always negative stuff & sarcasm and/or they pretend to play dumb. My aim in creating this thread was to finally have a sports thread without all this nonsense going on. Basically, as my rules clearly stated in post #1, if you can't post anything positive about the Leafs, just go elsewhere. People who don't want to respect those simple rules are not wanted here. The free-for-all thread was created specifically for them.

It's obvious they keep coming back here because they miss me (or another die-hard Leafs fan) in the other hockey threads. Well, if they can't respect me for my choice of teams & can't cope with the fact i'm not interested in joining their threads & waste everyone's time with insults & sarcasm, well.....fuck them all! There are way too many threads available for them to post their usual nonsense. They shouldn't even be coming here with the sole mission of poisoning this thread. Period.

of course, you always get that in any sport or business, THATS BUSINESS, but you also have those who say let the man have time to finish the job, and with the youngest team in the entire NHL, i'd say only a few points out of a playoff spot with about 60 games to go is not to shabby
There are many who believe Burke has already achieved his vision.

Leafs Most Valuable Again.

http://www.torontosun.com/blogs/leafsnow/2010/12/01/16394086.html

Sale or no pending sale, the Toronto Maple Leafs have never been more valuable than they are right now. And if there ends up being a bidding war for the parent company, Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, the following numbers may already be obsolete on the low side.

Forbes Magazine released its annual valuations of the 30 NHL teams on Wednesday and once again the Leafs are ranked at the top.

According to the Forbes figures, the Leafs are worth $505 million US, a nice eight per cent gain over last year. Those totals are based on revenues of $187 million and an operating income of $82.5 million.

The New York Rangers, at a current value of $461 million, are ranked second, up 11 per cent from last year followed by the Montreal Canadiens who saw a 20 per cent increase and are valued at $408 million.

The Leafs have enjoyed steady growth since Forbes began its valuations since 1998 when the team was said to be worth $119 million. Last year, the value was $470 million up from $48 million in 2008.
As a private company, the Leafs have never commented on the Forbes listings.

MLSE has denied receiving an offer from Rogers, while Rogers also denies making one. Which, of course, means that indeed, they've been having talks. It's well known among the sports world that the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan would like to sell its stake in MLSE. There likely could be several suitors. Personally, i wish the buyer would be an individual and not a conglomerate. Especially not Rogers Communications. They've pissed off a lot of people with their handling of the Blue Jays, same with the Bills in Toronto series, and you can bet the Leafs would never be on HNIC (CBC) if Rogers ever owned the team. They'd have the Leafs playing on their own tv network (Rogers Sportsnet).

I'd like to have a Jim Balsilie as the owner. A Mark Cuban. Someone! Most people don't even know who the CEO of Rogers Communications is. The Toronto sports fans need an owner with the passion to win, not someone with the passion to simply make money.

Best news in a LONG LONG Time! Lets hope he is ready to play like he did his first 3 years in the NHL.... if so, Look Out !

It'll likely take him a few games to get adjusted to the NHL's speed & skill level. However, he certainly can't do worse than some of his highly-paid fellow defencemen. Currently, by far, the Leafs' best defenceman has been Tomas Kaberle. Luke Schenn has improved his game, but still has miles to go before he reaches Kaberle's skill level. Beauchemin is a very reliable defenceman when he's not playing as many minutes as he does now, and when he's playing within his limitations. One of the leaders on the team according to most of his fellow Leafs, his game will get better with Phaneuf's return. The two kids, Gunnerson & Aulie, have looked very good over the past few games, Aulie playing over 20 minutes a game. Lebda's been awful & likely won't play much.......and Komisarek should improve once he's expected to play at the most 15 minutes a game & down a notch as a member of the team's 3rd defensive pair.

Phaneuf, Kaberle, Schenn, Beauchemin, Komisarek, Aulie & Gunnerson. These are the 7 defencemen you should expect to see in most games, with Lebda subbing for Aulie & Gunnerson once in a while. Baring injuries, of course.

Jiggy out with groin injury

James Reimer is back with the big club since J-S Gigure has once again tweaked his groin. I wouldn't be surprised if the re-injury occurred during the shootout.

Dion was cleared to travel and skate with the team on the current road trip as of yesterday. great news. Aulie is gonna be a Stud for the Leafs for many years, and is another coming of Chara, wait and see... Schenn and Aulie for the next 10 years would be nice to see

Leafs 5, Capitals 4...... OT Shootout Victory

I just got done watching the most incredible comeback by this young Leafs team against one of the elite teams in all of the NHL. Leafs down 4-1 and never say die attitude ended up in a 5-4 hard fought and deserved OT Leafs Victory. The Monster was HUGE in the shootout stopping 3 out of 3 shots, and 30 plus shots in the game to earn Gusto the 1st star of the game... in the last 2 games the Leafs have played, 2 shootout wins, (The bruins 2 nights ago) something a team can surely build on to gain the confidence a YOUNG and HUNGRY team needs to take them to the next level....

PS Doc, not to bust your balls, (ok a little, lol) but I think these guys dont hate Wilson like you like to believe sometimes. GREAT WIN! its games like this that remind me why i am a FAN of Hockey in general, but more important, a fanatic of Canada's REAL TEAM!

Doc, not to bust your balls, (ok a little, lol) but I think these guys dont hate Wilson like you like to believe sometimes. GREAT WIN! its games like this that remind me why i am a FAN of Hockey in general, but more important, a fanatic of Canada's REAL TEAM!

My only problem with Wilson is that he's been there for nearly 3 years & his special teams keep getting worse. For the past 2 seasons, they blamed poor PK on poor goaltending & personnel. Last season, they signed Mike Komisarek, traded for JS Giguere, Dion Phaneuf & Freddie Sjostrom. They've since added Kris Versteeg & Tim Brent, with hopes these players would greatly improve the penalty killing.

This season, one of the only bright spots on the team has been goaltending, which is often stated as a team's best defense or penalty killing. They now have brand new PK personnel who've succeeded elsewhere in this department. They sometimes made changes to the PK strategies. To what benefit?

The Leafs are once again near the bottom of the PK stats in 29th place. The blame absolutely has to fall on Wilson & his coaching staff. You can't blame the personnel anymore. It pisses me off that Mtl is #1 in PK, but i attribute it to very good coaching. Say whatever you want to say about Jacques Martin, but the guy CAN coach. He rarely gets outcoached & his team can beat any team on any given night. You honestly can't say that on paper, that they have a good defence. It's actually very average. However, they're one of the top defensive teams in the league. People have been bitching about the habs lack of success on the powerplay, however, looking at the stats, they're still considerably ahead of the Leafs in that department.

Yes indeed, the players are playing hard for Ron Wilson. But at what cost? Playing hard for a coach doesn't mean that he still deserves to hang onto his job, considering he's coached one of the most inept special teams every since his arrival nearly 3 years ago, year after year with not much signs of improvement. I honestly cannot think of worse special teams on a Leafs team in the past 20 years. Special teams win games. Special teams lead teams to playoffs. Special teams win playoff series, and eventually the team winning the Cup will always have great special teams. Needless to say, as much as i hate to admit it, things are not looking good for the Leafs unless they dramatically improve their special teams. I'm not holding my breath that they will.

Great win by the Leafs last night, in a game they were clearly outplayed in the first two periods. It was clearly a steal on the part of the Leafs, but they've had it happen to them so many times that it was bound to finally happen to them. Tough games against Pittsburgh, Philly & Mtl coming up. I'll be overjoyed if they can manage to get 3 pts out of 6.

Go Leafs Go! :D
