Goodness, gracious, Colton Orr, 5 minutes for attempted murder!!!.

I remember that knockout, by i didn't realize he was fighting Colton Orr. That knockout was an embarrassment to the Flyers & it was pretty much the end of Todd Fedoruk's career with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Yup, Colton pound for pound is the best fighter in the game today and also has improved his skating by shedding 20 lbs and also working with Barb Underhill and now has a career in the NHL again when it looked like he was all but done last year. Great guy off the ice as well it seems, a gentle giant i am told and always makes time for the fans. One of the best hires Brian Burke made was Underhill, and Phaneuf thanks you Mr. Burke..... oh yea, the second best hire, Randy Carlyle.
The moral of the story is don't fuck with Colton Orr or risk the same fate.

And we got Colton for nothing ( waivers ), from the Bruins

The training staff of Tom Renney worked him into game shape

He always was a great fighter..he was just a defensive liability when the Rangers first got him

He improved enough to take a regular shift as the games went on...

Best Regards

Congrats to Ben Scrivens on his first NHL shut out of his career tonight against that "other" team from Ontario! He played amazing and stole the game for the TML's.

The former #1 college goalie of the year and AHL goalie of the year as well looks to be a keeper! (told ya Doc!) :)

"Only serious & positive posts will be tolerated."

Amen,

Congrats to the Leafs on a dominating game, earning a points tie with the BRUINS, and on surging in the standings just one point behind the division leader. With goalies like Scrivens the Leafs have a great shot at getting beyond another early season high mark and staying around to compete with the best of the NHL all season long. So far it looks like all the tools are there to make the playoffs.

Bravo Leafs, :thumb:

Leafs sell out ACC for Saturday 'road' game against Ottawa

The Air Canada Centre should be jumping on Saturday, and it’s too bad the Maple Leafs won’t be there to hear the noise.

The Leafs are in Ottawa for Round 2 of the Battle of Ontario.

But the game will be televised on the big screen at the Air Canada Centre and it’s a sellout, according to MLSE officials.

There will be free food, giveaways and several Leaf alumni will also be on hand.

Goalie Ben Scrivens earned his first NHL shutout last Saturday when the Leafs beat the Senators 3-0, but since then the injury-depleted Senators have won two straight and are now tied with the Leafs in the Northeast Division.

Didn't I say that the Leafs have the best fans on the planet?

Winter Classic: Leafs-Red Wings game back on

It’s all still very hush-hush, but the Maple Leafs and Red Wings will indeed play next January in the NHL’s next instalment of the Winter Classic.

This year’s game, scheduled for New Year’s Day, was cancelled due to the lockout. It was expected to draw 110,000 fans.

But the Star has learned that the NHL is closing in on final talks with officials at the University of Michigan for use of its football stadium, and with the Detroit Tigers for use of Comerica Park in what would be a weeklong festival of hockey capped of by the NHL game.

“My guess is we will officially announce plans in early spring,” a source told the Star.

This will be the Leafs’ first appearance in the Winter Classic. The Red Wings have been part of it before.

Leafs Nation is expected to turn out in droves to help the NHL set a record for the highest single-game attendance in its history.

When the 2013 version of the game was cancelled, it was widely expected the Leafs and Wings would simply delay the game a year.

The 2014 game is expected to have all the bells and whistles of the one that was cancelled, which included AHL, OHL and university games at Comerica Park in the week leading up to the Winter Classic.

It will undoubtedly be a treat for Leaf fans - and indeed for all hockey fans - to observe the magnificent talents of Pavel Datsyuk, the most skilled hockey player in the world.

Be positive Leafs fans,

Scrivens collapse last night was nothing more than a fluke after two great shutout victories in a row, even if he didn't finish the game. The Leafs are in fine position to make the playoffs. With two games coming up against the BRUINS soon the Leafs will have a golden opportunity to make a big move and catch up to MONTREAL.

Go TEAM Go,

I agree that Datsyuk is one of the world's most skilled players, among others. But i feel bad for the guy, stuck on a rebuilding team which likely won't make the playoffs not only this season, but possibly for the next few years to come.

The loss of Nick Lidstrom to retirement has proven to be a great blow to the Red Wings' chances of making the playoffs. But is this the only reason for their current struggles? There must be other reasons.

As for the Leafs, they were among two of the league's youngest teams last season and the dividends are finally starting to show. They're now only one win away from the first spot and it's remarkable that they've kept on rolling while three of their best players have been out to month-long injuries.

A lot of credit belongs to head coach Randy Carlyle, a former Stanley Cup winner. But this is Brian Burke's team, in and out. This is the type of team Burke always wanted, leading the league in physical altercations. It's a very tough team to play against, big, fast & skilled. A coach's dream. Watching those Leafs on any given night is a Leafs Nation member's dream. Go Leafs Go!

Yes, losing the second greatest defenceman of all time is, not surprisingly, a huge blow.

Add Brad Stuart and Thomas Holmstrom - the best in the world at what he did - and the Wings have suffered MAJOR player losses.

Luckily, they still have Datsyuk (the most skilled hockey player in the world) and Zetterberg (the player most respected and admired by Wayne Gretzky during the past decade) for starters.

They also have the best owner bar none in the NHL, the best management team, the second best GM of all time, and one of the top coaches in the game today.

This is a team that not too long ago managed to survive the retirement of the great Steve Yzerman - along with the departure of many other present and soon-to-be Hall of Famers - and has still remained among the very elite of the NHL. This is a team that will continue to thrive even as the re-build occurs. This is a team to make ANY hockey fan proud. This is a team that is the absolute beacon of class and dignity. This is a team universally respected...even by fans of OTHER franchises.

Even though they've had to deal with their share of serious injuries to several of their key players, the Leafs just keep on rolling along and find themselves among the league's elite.

Last night, the Leafs played a hard-fought game against the Philadelphia Flyers & wound up leaving Philly with a 4-2 win under their belt. Ben Scrivens was great between the pipes & rookie Nazem Kadri was nothing short of spectacular!

Next up: the lowly Montreal Canadiens at the ACC on Wednesday evening. Go Leafs Go!! :thumb:
